The 2018 Koenigsegg Agera RSN only has 6,900 miles on it and is being sold at a cool £ 4,020,000 with VAT included. Oh, that's a mere $ 5,041,270 if you're interested. Take note that this is a right-hand drive vehicle, so that shuts down any chance of importation to the US for public road use. To be honest, if you happen to have the cash for this, then you probably have a vacation home in the UK to drive it to, anyway.

If you have Egg money, you can just send it back to Sweden to have them convert it to LHD

A V70R, like the 2004 model for sale on Bring a Trailer here, is a splendid sport wagon that’s full of fun surprises. For starters, it has a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder under the hood that’s good for 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. In this silver one’s case, that’s paired with all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual operated by the forever-cool "spaceball" shifter (a five-speed auto was available). It has upsized brakes from Brembo, and it also came standard with an adjustable suspension developed with the help of Ohlins — you change the stiffness via three different buttons on the dash. Sure, there's the potential for it to be an electronic nightmare waiting to break, but it’s also extremely cool for a car from 2004.

The performance is certainly better than a standard V70, but it’s no racecar. The 0-60 mph time is just under 6 seconds, and you’ll look good on the way there. Those subtle styling changes for the R really make all the difference in this Swedish wagon. More aggressive bumpers, a spoiler, big wheels and “R” logos all lend it a spicier look. Then on the inside, this particular example has blue leather and blue carpeting to match the blue instrument cluster backing. We approve.

This car won’t be selling for stupid money, either. There’s still three days on the clock, and it’s well under $10,000. At 99,000 miles on the odometer, this one still has plenty of life left in it, too. Perhaps you’re going to be in need of a baby hauler soon? It’s hard to argue with Volvo’s reputation for safety, and this one even has the rearward-facing third row that never fails to be a good time for all.

For sure.

Or, hell, if you have that amount of money...have your people call around and buy a RHD of the same version. Keep 1 in Europe for when you vacation in the UK or fly it over to Japan, and then keep another in USA.

Love it. These attainable cars are great and puts accessibly joy in the avg Joe enthusiast.

Always been intrigued by the S60/V70 R. Never had a chance to drive one, but remember checking them out at the auto show when they debuted.

For car lovers interested in buying—or simply staring at—the coolest vehicles ever made, there’s one site all of us have bookmarked: Bring a Trailer. From vintage off-roaders to rare supercars to everything in between, BaT’s selection of rides has kept Autoweek editors enthralled for more than a decade. Now, we’re delighted to welcome them to the family!

“I’m very excited to continue to lead Bring a Trailer as we partner with Hearst Autos,” says Randy Nonnenberg, BaT’s co-founder and CEO. “We can now keep all of the best parts of the business intact while enhancing our capabilities to address our huge product demand and user traffic growth.”

Adds Matt Sanchez, Hearst Autos CEO: “Bring a Trailer has set the bar for building a community around a passion point. What Randy and (co-founder) Gentry (Underwood) have developed is truly special, and what they deliver to their audience is so much more than transactional. They’ve built a family, developed trust and have become an invaluable part of the automotive landscape.”

See the full press release below.
NEW YORK, NY (June 25, 2020)—Hearst Autos today announced the acquisition of Bring a Trailer, a digital auction platform and auto enthusiast community. The announcement was made by Hearst Magazines President Troy Young, Hearst Autos CEO Matt Sanchez, and Bring a Trailer Co-founders Randy Nonnenberg and Gentry Underwood.

Bring a Trailer curates classic, collector, and enthusiast vehicles submitted by its audience for auction. This knowledgeable community of more than 415,000 users and more than 175,000 registered bidders vets each vehicle, giving confidence to potential buyers. The name of the platform is a reference to the familiar shorthand in classified listings urging buyers to “Bring a trailer!” for non-operational projects, race cars and Concours show vehicles.

“Bring a Trailer represents another step in the evolution of Hearst Magazines, one that connects passion points to content and now, marketplaces,” Young said. “At its core, Bring a Trailer is about curation, which is what our brands have always been about.”

“Bring a Trailer has set the bar for building a community around a passion point,” Sanchez said. “What Randy and Gentry have developed is truly special, and what they deliver to their audiences so much more than transactional. They’ve built a family, developed trust, and have become an invaluable part of the automotive landscape. We’re excited to welcome Bring a Trailer into Hearst Autos and develop the resources, tools, technology and partnerships to support and grow this iconic business.”

Bring a Trailer will continue to run as an independent business, led by Nonnenberg and his team. No personnel changes are planned, and operations will continue from the existing San Francisco, CA, headquarters.

“I’m very excited to continue to lead Bring a Trailer as we partner with Hearst Autos,” Nonnenberg said. “We can now keep all of the best parts of the business intact while enhancing our capabilities to address our huge product demand and user traffic growth. I had Road & Track magazine pages hung on my walls as a kid and they helped shape my automotive passion. This is really an amazing next step in the Bring a Trailer journey, and it will allow us to solidify our tech foundation so that we can add new features and better serve the automotive enthusiast community.”

Hearst Autos will expand and support Bring a Trailer’s offerings, community and transactions through investments in robust technology and new products and features. In addition, Hearst Autos’ iconic brands Car and Driver, Road & Track and Autoweek will add collaborative benefits to Bring a Trailer, including editorial content and insights as well as business and sponsorship opportunities.

A rare 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STi has appeared for sale in the UK with near-delivery mileage and an eye-watering price tag.

In recent years, Japanese performance cars from the latest 1990s and early 2000s have started to soar in value and, as one of the rarest cars of its kind, the Impreza 22B STi is quickly gathering momentum as one of the most expensive. Just how expensive? Well, this example has an asking price of £295,000 ($370,600).

The car has been listed up for sale from Appreciating Classics in Norfolk and is said to be a one-owner car. Thankfully it sports no mods and comes with original floor mats, original plastic over the rear seats, original kick plate protection and original paintwork.

I think it's being well over-valued, personally.

Silverstone Auctions sold a 2,500 mile example back in 2016 for around $95,000 I believe. They have another example, 30K miles, predicting $80K-$100K next weekend. 4 Star Classics in the UK had a 25K mile example originally listed at $145,000 but sold it around $100,000 months later. And Contempo Hong Kong had a 34 miles, 1 of 3 #0/400 Prototypes with no price given, but was expected around $200K-$400K based on the time a Rally Prototype example sold for over $224,000.

It's a cool car & their values have nowhere to go but up, but I don't think it's at the point it can command practically $400,000 right off the bat. Arguably, 2 of the biggest icons of that era, the NSX & R34 GT-R don't command that much money, even in their most desired forms.

If a Z-Tune came up for sale, I think it could easily command over $500,000 USD.

Some stories of past ones going up for sale for that neighborhood of dollars....but not sure if there are publically confirmed sold prices. I would imagine it can cross the 500k mark....

F&F movie lovers are now in their 30s-40s...and some may have enough dough to swing it. And then the popularity of the R34s is much increased following those movies and the memes and Paul Walker and all that.

Not to mention the YouTubers who are going to do whatever they can so they can post a video with the title "I BOUGHT THE FIRST STREET LEGAL R34 GTR IN THE USA!!!"

Seller: So...uhh.....whats the market for R34s in the USA gonna be like?

Buyers: Yes.

Edit: Looks like 4 more years? 1999 + 25 = 2024

There's a pretty large importer near me, and I've heard rumors that they've been stocking up on R34s for the past few years. Once they can bring them into the states legally, there will be a bunch. I expect them to cost over $50k for a GTR, easily. $70k is probably not out of the question.

Ooooh yeah.

If I was in that business and I had a way to access and store and maintain R34s over-seas....I would certainly been stashing them. This meme car will sell like hot cakes.

I think 50k is gonna be easily the price for run of the mill GT-Rs....100k or more may not be that rare and all the youtubers will be wanting one as well for that sweet Adsense revenue

The benefit the Z-Tune that went for over $500,000 was being #001. As the Top Gear link says, the other known sale registered around $440,000. A Z-Tune could probably cross the $500,000 mark in any condition now-a-days, but with only 20 built & incredibly rare to see on the market, I didn't factor it much into my statement.

Probably going to result in $100,000 examples of any condition that people will buy b/c there won't be any other examples available worth more/less. Likely going to end up with importers trying to get in more basic R34 models & ask silly prices b/c people see a R34 & nothing more. I remember seeing R32s in their first year, regardless of model, wanting over $25K just b/c "Skyline!".

Often heralded as the first modern supercar, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing has no doubt secured a prestigious position among vintage mid-century classics, and now Gooding & Company is offering one for auction.

Originally released in 1955, this particular Gullwing is extremely rare due to its completely unrestored condition. Built as a special order US-export model, the classic car boasts a race-ready Fire Engine Red paint job coupled with a gray leather interior. It also carries highly-coveted Rudge wheels, making this particular iteration even rarer. Since ‘55, the car only recorded five owners, all within California, with one single-family ownership lasting more than four decades before selling it to the current owner.

With his family also previously owning this Gullwing, Garth Hammers — a specialist at Gooding & Company — shared his experience with the Mercedes. “Riding along to gatherings and rallies as a child is really what solidified the Gullwing as my all-time favorite car,” says Hammers. “My family owned this Gullwing when I was 13 years old and it was the only one we ever had with Rudge knock-off wheels. I was still too young to drive it at the time, but this car made a huge impression on me.”

Saw one of these at a museum/dealer (basically the collection was for sale). A 300SL gullwing was fetching around $1M plus. Red leather interior too. I'll try to dig up my pics.

The Red/Tan '57 I got to take a ride in was supposedly closer to $2M (back in around '08). Plates were LAS ONE, or something like that, supposedly the last (not sure if last '57, or last US-spec '57) ever made.

Found the pics. I think the price was ASK. Ha. Well over the 1M Euro mark. Big picture dump below. But the dealer has a website in English, so take a look at some of their classics for sale:

It's a little sacrilegious but I like it.

Not crazy about that raw fiberglass look, it looks like reaaaally faded plastic. I guess they were going for a theme.

1986 Porsche 962 IMSA GTP

I've seen a few 956/962's at the Amelia Island Concours and they are pretty special Porsches.
Basically the 917's of the 80's, won alot of races. In good condition they would bring ~$200-300k just ~6 years ago.
Now many are 7 figure cars.

Not all that long ago, Volkswagen made an attempt to eschew the whole “people’s car” schtick and sidle its product line up-market. The result was cars like today’s Nice Price or No Dice W8 Passat, which is the fanciest Passat there ever was. Let’s see if that makes its price a fancy feast.

We should start out our discussion with a bit of acknowledgment that this car would not have existed were it not for one man—Volkswagen Group Chair, Ferdinand Piëch. The grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, Piëch was the driving force behind such pie in the sky cars as the Volkswagen Phaeton and Bugatti Veyron. It was his vision that in order to grow and profit, Volkswagen needed to expand its market presence upward. This resulted in cars like the Phaeton, the fancy off-roader Touareg, and the most expensive Passat anyone had ever laid eyes on.

The Passat story begins years before that, with the car debuting in 1973 as a fastback doppelgänger to Audi’s model 80 saloon and coupé. Both models shared the same estate body style with brand separation handled by the fitting of different grilles and lights.

That would all change in late 2001 with the introduction of the W8 engine in the newly restyled Passat. Alarmingly described as a ‘test bed’ for later W12 and W16 engines that would make their way into much more expensive cars, the 271 horsepower dub’ya-eight would be slotted into the Passat as part of an effort to make a shorter leap between it and the upcoming Phaeton. In effect, the engine was two VR6 motors, each with two cylinders lopped off and then wedded together in unholy fashion.

This ‘04 wagon represents the holy grail of W8 Passat obtainment. It features not only the standard 4Motion AWD but also a six-speed stick and the capacious and handsome estate body.

The ad notes that the car has 134,000 miles on the clock and that it “Runs and drives great.” The interior is described as “8/10” while the exterior gets no similar numeric value. The timing guides—a known weak point on the W8—are said to have been replaced and the car is claimed to have done vacation house duty for the past decade. Oops, I guess we’re back to complaining about rich people again.

This is a unique and most likely rewarding car to drive what with its smooth and torquey W8 and a rare six-speed stick. It’s also an incredibly complicated car from an era when VW wasn’t making the most durable products it could. The Passat badge on the hatch doesn’t really do it any favors either as that’s not something people generally get impressed by.

Still, if you are unfazed by such notions and love the novelty of this rare wagon, we’re only left to address the price. The asking is $6,800, and that gets you the car and a clean Rhode Island (which is a bald-faced lie because it’s totally not an island) title.

Providence, RI Craigslist, or go here if the ad disappears.

My younger brother actually had a W8 Passat Wagon 6MT; maintenance nightmare!

If I recall correctly, he told me there were only something like 8 6MT W8 Wagons sold here in the States.
