I've always been a fan of the 944, so I put it ahead of the 928. Would take a clean 914 (especially a 914/6) over a 928 too.

This 1963 Volvo P1800 was acquired by the seller seven years ago, reportedly after 26 years with its previous owner, and has since been fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-liter General Motors LNF Ecotec inline-four paired with an Aisin five-speed manual transmission. The car has been repainted in red and also features a Miata-based independent rear suspension, a 7.5″ Ford Trac-Loc differential, electric power steering, updated front brakes, 16″ steel wheels, body and interior modifications, remote keyless entry, aftermarket gauges and audio gear, and a retrofitted air conditioning system. This modified early Swedish-production P1800 is offered with older service records, related literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

One on the right for me
^ - I bet it goes for over 13k. I was outbid a few years ago on a similar TL on BAT. And this one doesn't yet have a cracked dash and the seats are in great condition.
I'd bid on this one if I wasn't trying to unload (seriously this time) my mustang to finally have some garage space. My 04 at some point will need to be replaced...eventually.

My pops told me, back in the late 80's he originally wanted a 911, but the salesman sold him on a front-engine Porsche b/c dad said he had never driven a 911 before & the sales guy thought he might have been happier with his first Porsche being front-engine.
Dad said he considered a 928 b/c of the V8, but he wasn't sold on the looks and went with a 944 Turbo instead.

+ best friend growing up eventually bought two 928's (83 and 86 with the four valve heads). He sold the 83 and still owns the 86. They are hard cars to maintain, I've worked on both and there are certain components are very difficult to get to.
But they are a blast to drive, different than a 944 but very solid GT car of car.

That TL needs the rear bumper resprayed. Also needs paint work by the tail light, couple scuffs on the rocker by driver door. Dash looks like it is about to split. As much as I loved my Type-S, I wouldn't pay these ridiculous prices for another one knowing the issues they have and maintenance they need. Granted it is not much, just better cars out there for the money.

Got the keys to a '86 (IIRC) 944 Turbo when I lived in Austin. The boost lag caught me off guard on a 270* exit. Bit of a moment, but enjoyed the car.

Are you one of the many Formula 1 fans still saddened by the news that Kimi Räikkönen plans to retire at the end of the current season? Well, you can give yourself a much-needed boost by buying one of his old racecars.
Later this month, a McLaren MP4 17D once piloted by the Iceman and teammate David Coulthard will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s. The coveted speed machine was driven by the Finn early on in his career and helped cement him as one of the most beloved racers of the past two decades.
The formidable MP4 17D was rolled out for the 2002 season; this was Räikkönen’s second F1 Championship, but his first time competing for McLaren. The four-wheeler raced seven times during this campaign and five more times the following year. In 12 races, it totaled no less than six podium finishes, including first place at the 2003 Australian Grand Prix.
This particular example, chassis number MP4-17A-06, was the marque’s sixth racer to wear the West McLaren Mercedes livery that was introduced at the 1997 Australian Grand Prix. The car actually sported different badging during its second season, but, thankfully, it’s been restored back to its original finish. Under the hood, it’s powered by an Ilmore-designed Mercedes-Benz 3.0-liter V-10 mated to a McLaren-designed seven-speed automatic sequential gearbox. The svelte road rocket is capable of generating a gutsy 845 hp at 18,500 rpm. Other technical features include front and rear double-wishbone suspension, an inboard torsion bar and a McLaren and Penske-manufactured damper system.
So, what exactly does one do with an old F1 car that hasn’t raced in nearly 20 years? That’s unclear, but it’s hard to think of a better keepsake for Räikkönen’s biggest supporters. Be prepared to pay a lot for this automotive relic, though: RM Sotheby’s expects it to sell $2.1 million to $2.7 million at its St. Moritz auction on September 17. Still, when you consider the $6.6 million that Lewis Hamilton’s 2010 MP4-25A racecar sold for earlier this summer, it sounds like a bargain.
Check out more images of Räikkönen’s MP4 17D below:

What's interesting is the rear suspension with the longitudinal torsion springs, has a heave damper but I don't see any heave spring which seems unusual

Absolutely insane. Part of the crazy used car market I guess. The chip shortage and new car production issues will be here to stay for likely at least 2 more years IMO...so indeed it is a seller's market right now. For how long will be anyone's guess.

The S was just so much more special than the regular Turbo. The one engine thing common to both 944 Turbo's was the ceramic exhaust ports on the cylinder head, which was the same technology in the Porsche/TAG F1 engine to keep the exhaust gases more insulated from the aluminum heads. Pretty neat to see that F1 tech at that time used on production cars.
While rambling on about 944 Turbo's, in the mid-90's I was at University of Illinois campus visiting and saw a 924GTS which was the homogeneous version of the 924 Turbo race cars that ran at LeMans.
The 924GTS was sorta the template for the 944 styling with the fender flairs. Phenomenal condition with all the various factory race tech incorporated including roll cage, wanted to talk to the owner and inquire how they got it into the country.
They are extremely rare, one sold on BaT earlier this year for $261K

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, continued at full throttle during the Inaugural Houston Auction at NRG Center in Houston, Texas, September 16-18, 2021, with $37.5 million in total sales. Strong prices for collectible vehicles combined with tremendous turnout led to many world auction records and a rising demand for American-made Resto-Mods, quality customs and vehicles with celebrity provenance. On Saturday, the auction arena was electric when a stellar group of vehicles crossed the block led by a 1979 Porsche 928 (Lot#749) driven by Tom Cruise in the film “Risky Business” that sold for $1.98 million, becoming the world record auction sale of any Porsche 928 from any year.

Had multiple people last week asking me if I was going to the 'car show' over the weekend.
Had to look it up, didn't realize BJ was here in Houston. Admission was $50 at the door for Saturday, with $15 parking.
We had a birthday party over the weekend, so didn't make it down there.

TVR’s never had it easy. The British carmaker, celebrated for its wild sports cars, is still working to bounce back from its collapse in the mid-2000s while under the leadership of Russian banker Nikolay Smolensky. That episode left a number of projects on the cutting room floor, one of which being this 2003 TVR T440R. It was put up for sale this week by Autolounge via Pistonheads, and it’s the only one of its kind ever made.
Strap yourself in, because this is way more confusing than it ever should’ve been. To keep things relatively short, the T440R was originally called the TuscanR and was intended as a roadgoing, homologation version of what was to be TVR’s Tuscan-based GT1-class challenger. Then branding changed for whatever reason, and TVR ultimately sold two examples of this car — one called the T400R, with a 4-liter straight-six, and another called the T440R, with a 4.2-liter version of the same engine. The latter is the car up for sale now.
That duo morphed into the Typhon — a supercharged version with even more power. TVR built and sold just three of those according to Dyler, right around the same time the company itself was purchased by Smolensky. The change in ownership plunged the model’s future into a limbo it never saw its way out of, and no more Typhons ever left TVR’s factory.
That leaves this T440R as the only car of its spec ever made; a race car molded for road use that, in typical TVR fashion, never had its sharpest edges sanded down. That’s made abundantly clear reading some of the finer details of the car’s construction.
TVR repurposed many engine components from the T440R race car for its road counterpart, though output was reduced to 440 horsepower as I’m sure you already guessed. The floor’s flat, just like a GT car’s. The chassis was made from a mixture of carbon fiber and aluminum, with a separate carbon fiber tub within that and yet more carbon fiber comprising the bodywork. Much of that carbon fiber can be seen from within the cabin where you’ll also find two small backseats, believe it or not. Yes, for all its ripsnorting TVR pedigree, this homologation special is technically a 2+2.
The T440R — the operative word being “the” — has 25,000 miles on it, which is more than one might expect for a pseudo-production car that never got a proper run. It’s priced at £192,990, or about $265,000. With the new Griffith still not quite real yet, this is an unexpectedly great opportunity to own one of the last TVRs ever made. Or never made, depending on how you look at it.

I remember seeing a Tuscan Speed Six in London in 2003, in that color shift blue/green.
Was just parked on the street near our hotel. At the time, wasn't even aware that TVR was a real company, just a car I remembered from Gran Turismo

He traded it for a C4 Corvette because he wanted to see what it was about. He ended up hating it, but only because a family member would come over & joy-ride it when he was out of town causing it to have problem after problem. He dropped out of sports cars for a long time after that.

A Koenigsegg Agera S unlike any other is currently up for auction in Hong Kong and is certainly one of the most striking cars ever built by the Swedish automaker.
Koenigsegg introduced the Agera S back in 2012 for markets without the E85 ethanol that it likes to use for the Agera R. Making this example stand out is the unique green carbon-fiber bodykit that glistens under the sun and is complemented by ordinary swathes of carbon fiber and green painted accents. While the listing doesn’t mention how much the car’s original owner paid for this exterior finish, it would have been a six-figure option.
...
With just over three days left in the auction, bidding had exceeded £700,000 ($957,000).

Genius Garage has a late 90s/early 00s Indycar (Reynard chassis I believe) and apart from being non-running, I recall him saying that you'd effectively need racing experience to operate it in it's race configuration. Similar with their 'C4' IMSA Corvette.
They're currently repowering it with a K24, so the students can actually drive it without risk of injury.

The Porsche 911 Strassenversion is a pretty rare beast since only approximately 20 units were built to homologate the GT1-spec racecar. A pristine example of the street-legal exotic with extra-low mileage is currently offered for sale in Japan, for an eye-watering price of €10,550,000 ($12,263,584) before taxes.
The 1998 Porsche GT1 Strassenversion in question is painted in Fern White combined with a black interior. It has 996-style headlights and taillights and features an ultra-wide body with extreme aero components and huge intakes. While it is not as rare as the even more lightweight GT1-98 Straßenversion, this example is still amazingly cool and most Porsche collectors would do anything to own one.
The twin-turbo 3.2-liter water-cooled flat-six engine is tuned to produce around 700 hp (522 kW / 710 PS), which is a significant increase over the stock model’s 537 hp (400 kW / 544 PS. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox. The factory spec model accelerated from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and had a top speed of 310 km/h (192 mph). The amazing thing is that it only has 787 km (489 miles) on the odometer, making it even more desirable.
The car is listed for sale at James Edition through BTC Auction Cars. Mind you, even if it sells at $10.55 million, the GT1 Straßenversion won’t be the most expensive Porsche ever. This title belongs to a 1971 917K racecar that was sold for over $14 million to a private collector.
The most expensive recorded sale of a 911 GT1 Strassenversion happened in 2017 at the Gooding & Company’s Amelia Island auction when a 4,900-mile (7,900 km) example sold for $5.665 million.
