Yea, probably won't be able to get it.

The only cameras that are able to AFAIK are the 1 series and cameras using digic III.

One last thing you could try is uploading a unprocessed image to a certain website that could possibly pull the shutter count. I used that for my 1DmkIIn.

Can't remember the link right now.

Not sure if I want to spend money but if a Nikon 135mm f/2.0 were to show up, I'd crack open my wallet. So hard to find...

I have a similar feeling about the Canon offering.... but I think it's easy to find.

I was reading how the big brands severely under-rate the shutter expectancy just so people feel they "need" something new a few years down the road, once they "feel" the shutter is probably at its maximum.. all I know is, I'm probably close to if not over 200k on mine..

The design them to withstand certain uses. Though they'll go out within a week or almost never.

there isn't really a set number. It all varies with how you used the camera and other unseen factors, IMO

The wait is over!!! Sony NEX-3 and NEX-5. They stuffed an APS-C sized sensor into a compact cam with interchangeable lenses! THIS is what I've been waiting for. So glad I held off on the other compacts. The NEX-5 has 1080 video!

at the price. I was expecting to cost around 1k with lens. Nex5 goes for around 700 Inc the 18-55 lens. WIN.

Once again though Sony ties you into there system. You have to use their equipment, you can't use other 4/3rds lenses and such. I wouldn't touch this until it's out for awhile. If you have to have it look at Oly or Panny.

I won't mind buying a couple of Sony specific lenses for this camera.

And, the others don't do 1080 video. and the Panny costs north of 1k with lens, I think.

(btw this Sony is not a 4/3 camera.)

I know it's not a 4/3 camera, that's what I'm saying, other companies are going with what works. You can use lenses that have been out for years with Oly and Panny 4/3. Sony once again is tying people hands with going their own route. Go to Engadet and watch the video and look at that UI...

I'll wait to see sample pics. If they look good, I'll probably buy it. I don't really care about the proprietary lenses or UI or whatever, as long as the pics look good. (I did see the UI, I liked it lol). Even if I got a 4/3 camera, I wouldn't have built up a lens collection for it - so if I got this and 2 or 3 lenses for it, I'd be happy.

I find it really funny that Sony has been touting IS in the body with the A series cameras, now with this body, they're putting it into the lenses.

Is it using their proprietary flash shoe?

This guy at a workshop I went too had to use an adaptor so he could use the pocket wizard to sync with the flash units.

Let's just say that adaptor was a pos and would come loose and not fire consistently.

I have a tv and dvd player with their name on it, even an older P&S. but lets leave your issue with Apple out of this.

Doing my first wedding this weekend for a co-worker. Have to admit I'm a little nervous, but everything will be fine I'm sure. Using a 2 camera setup and a cotton carrier belt holster with an insert on both so I can just switch cameras instead of fumbling with changing lenses. Will also have the sigma 18-50 on me just in case I need it.

my camera setups:
Camera A: 7D, 85L, 580exii
Camera B: 7D, 24L, 580exii

This evening is going to be spend practicing switching cameras

Yeah I was thinking that too. I'll take the 70-200 and have my wife sit at an aisle seat with it.

I'm not too nervous about the final image quality or composition. I'm going to shoot photos at the rehearsal so I know where the good spots are that I'll need to be taking the photos from.

I'm more nervous about missing the cotton carrier holster and introducing one of my lenses to the concrete in front of everyone.
