I can totally relate to this. I've even had my gf tell me to leave the camera alone. I don't think I seem "distant" or out of touch with what's going on or not sharing in the moment with other people. But I can see how others would think that.
During the Disney trip she was surprised that I was going to bring the camera along during the park outings. I said that telling me to leave it behind would be like telling a fisherman he could go out on the bass boat but leave the poles behind.
I try and stay very conscious of my interaction with everyone, maybe even more so now.

Effective now as a side-gig, I'm doing photo work (processing, retouching, etc) for the Chicago Police. Working through one of their attorneys with evidence to help with cases which are brought against the Police. I'm pretty excited to be using my photo skills for some "real" purpose. And by that I mean, not club stuff.

Yeah there are limits. The first job I did, was to take a batch of photos which were overexposed and adjust them so you could see them better. Things like that. And, they may ask me what I did, and I would have to explain it in detail.

yea thats what i thought, probably have to keep a very detailed log of everything you've done to each photo you had to adjust.
and at still doing club shots. any chance on an update to your thread? or should i just look in flickr?

yeah - another thing they would need done is enhancement of detail, such as marks or scars or things of that nature. so they can see them better. it's kind of like in those TV shows where they do that kind of thing (CSI?).
Ill entertain the idea of updating thread.

so I had my hand slapped by flickr a couple of weeks ago, they set my entire account to Moderate because someone reported my chick pics. Apparently most of my chick pics should have been set to moderate. Anyways so this was bumming me out because now most people couldn't see anything I uploaded. And all of my other shots were also out of the search engine pool (google, yahoo etc) - sources from which I get lots of hits and contact. So I found out today there's a link to have them re-review your photos, so I set pretty much all my chick pics to Moderate manually (using that organizer thing) and then asked for the re-review. I was pleasantly surprised within 20 minutes they had set my global account setting back to Safe. Anyways, happy I'm back to normal. And I'll just have to set the chick pics as Moderate from now on.

You are going to see some pretty wild pictures if they have you work on crime scene photos, I will tell you right now.
Good luck with it!

yeah from the sound of their e-mail, I really thought it was an irreversible thing. I was pretty bummed.
Hello Rasidel Slika,
We've changed the safety level of your photostream to
"moderate".
As per our Community Guidelines, content like that in your
account is not considered "safe" for everyone to view. You
may or may not be aware that Flickr has a Safe Search
system. When people browse or search on Flickr, they can
filter what they see based on a safety level that they are
comfortable with - either Safe Search is on, set to
moderate, or off. In order for Safe Search to work, we
relying on *you* to filter your content appropriately. As
you upload stuff to Flickr, you need to make sure that
you're applying appropriate filters (safe, moderate or
restricted) and telling us what sort of content it is
(photos, video, screenshots, art & illustration). If you
don't apply filters correctly, there's a very good chance
another member will let us know - in fact that's why we've
taken action today. (No need to be upset - it's every
member's right to let us know if they ever feel
uncomfortable. Yours too.)
We want Flickr to be a place that everyone can enjoy. That
means making sure that potentially offensive content is
filtered from public, safe areas of the site. If you read
our Community Guidelines, you'll see the key points are:
play nice, upload things that you have created yourself,
and respect the fact that there are millions of people visiting
Flickr who may not see the world the same way you do. Use
your common sense about whether or not your content is
suitable for a global, public audience. If the answer is
no, you need to filter it from public view. You should
also know that if we receive another report about your
content or conduct, it's very likely we'll terminate your
account.
So, please take a moment to find out how to work with
safety levels, use 'em, and everybody's happy!
Regards,
Flickr Staff

got a Sears Tower pic in this Chicago tourist book that just came out. It shows an early picture next to a modern one, as a comparison. Mine was a 3-shot panoramic. I'm guessing it will say Sears Tower on the old one and Willis Tower on the new one (I know, crazy).
I haven't seen it yet, will have the book soon.

I'll disagree, anybody who dismisses HDR simply because it isn't true to what they think photography is just being a snob. This is more so to the maker of the graph, who seems to like to make fun of people with whom they think have lessor skills and knowledge.

Well, if I was about to base myself on that graph, I'd say I'm somewhere between the HDR hole and the 2nd "DAMMIT I SUCK" phase....but I still have the 'Dammit, I suck' mentality going on....
I should go shoot more....

Fact of the matter is though, many people aren't able to capture their idea of an HDR and translate it into a quality photo. I knew before the first time I even played around with them that I'd want to lean on the 'conservative' side of exposure...and I have that down...but my overall execution in no where near where others' are.
