Usually not too clumsy, but we'll see how I do in front of a crowd. I just talked to my co worker and he said they expect about 120 people at the wedding/reception.

have you considered the Canon 28 1.8? I've read its better build quality and better focusing.

yeah wasn't being serious about that.

120 people doesn't sound too bad.

My friend said the same thing and bought that one instead. Hmm.. I should look into that.. or maybe i should just skip this and save the money towards 70-200 2.8..

alright, here is my deal..

I have $900 to burn... recommend me some lenses!

I have few lenses in my mind:
24-105mm IS L
24-70 f/2.8 L (little over my budget)
17-55mm (JS + MS3 recommendation)
50mm (is this lens even worth a buy?)

I played with 24-105mm, and I felt in love with that lens... I am looking for something with range. I can pick up shorter range lens later down the road.

I also played with 11-16 (thanks JS + MS3), but range is too short for my taste.

Range? Then it's the 24-105, I really like using it for a walk around lens on my 40D. The range and it being a good enough lens to use all of the time.

The 50mm will give you low light shots, but on a cropped body it could be a little longer than you want.

I want good walk around lens. I am also at canon digital forum, and read lot of good reviews on 24-105 over 24-70.

I guess I just answered my own question, but definitely looking for good walk around lens.

Jup, you think I should just go with 24-105, or is there another good walk around lens I can pick up for decent price?

The lenses you listed were the only lenses I would look at for Canon. You might want to look at the 18-200 if you want more range, but read up about it before you do.

tonyyyy i didn't know you needed something with relatively large range..

i thought you just wanted a good walkaround lens, that's why i said EFS 17-55 IS should be the best lens for our 40D.

hmmm 24-70 with 70-200?

One thing with the 18-200, it's variable aperture, 3.5-5.6, it'll inhibit you in low light.

I use my 24-105 a lot, lot, lot. I love it. It's hard to go wrong with that one.

I do want good walk around lens, but 17-55 isn't enough for me. I like zoom in. jp.

I like your lens.. I will probably pick 70up same lens down the road, but not something I am looking for at this moment.

70-200 is little crazy...

+1 on the 24-105. I have one as my walkaround lens and love it! I rented a 24-70 and was glad I didn't buy it over the 24-105. Now if canon made a 24-105/2.8 IS, that would be awesome!!!

I also heard that 24-70 is bit heavier too. I think my camera is already heavy to begin with.. I think I'm just gonna go with 24-105.

24-70 is a lot heavier. one of the things I miss the most about the 24-105 is its light weight.

do any of your personal galleries get spam-views? I'm not talking flickr - just like personal sites that track view counts.

I don't know. because, I don't look at that gallery much anymore, let alone use it. I just happened to notice those view counts a while ago, and they seem to have been going up. I have a statistics module set up in the gallery and one day I was bored and looked. You know, I just thought of something. If they were bots, I think I would see similar behavior in other albums. But it's only that album with those view counts. It's weird, I just can't figure out why. And, I don't think any of the facebook people would be looking there, that is a very obscure album.

I find my 24-70 useless on my 40d. Once I go FF, I'm sure I'll use it more often.

Another $100 Instant Rebate on the 5D Mark II announced (until July 10th). I guess they need to liquidate these before the Mark III comes out.

^ Wow, gorgeous.

Do you think the panning was done during the time lapse or in PP? It seemed so smooth.

Its its own art form in many ways and its been around for a long time.
