he posted a response, you know these days many people try to stand out by going "viral" with something on teh intarweb, personally I think that's all he was doing. And, it worked, he turned heads, he got some extra notice, new followers, etc.

http://www.pixelatedimage.com/blog/2...aphic-penance/

clearly I was not alone in my thinking.

edit: I posted the above before even reading the final part of his latest entry:

Monday’s post brought a tonne of new readers. If you’re new hear, welcome here. Feel free to poke around, leave a comment of introduction, and be sure to check out the five years of archives. If you’re looking to improve your craft then I heartily recommend you check out Within The Frame, The Journey of Photographic Vision. if you’re looking to improve your business I can’t think of a better book than VisionMongers, Making A Life and Living in Photography. I wrote both of them so if I were you I’d be very suspicious of the recommendation, but I recommend them all the same. Also check out CraftAndVision.com, the online home of my eBooks. Improve Your Craft, Buy Less Gear. And all of them for only $5 each. Welcome here.

that retouch is pretty drastic, that must be good for the self esteem.

those videos are always cool to check out, my favorite one

I love the use of dof through out the scenes

Those vids seem to all pump up the contrasts and mess with the tint in PP. It's a cool look for some darker club and auto show scenes, but it gets old.

Anything particular about the Olympus that keeps attracting you vs. the Panny equivalents? Just curious.

On a side note, I've seen multiple people mentioning that they liked the Panasonic 20mm f/1.t pancacke lens on their EP-1 so I don't see why it wouldn't also be nice glass for the EP-2.

well I think the Olympus is 599 and the Panny is 799 or 899. And the pen is smaller. Those are the two main reasons. I like that 1.7 pancake too, I would most likely get that.

U2410’s 12-bit internal processing not
only helps deliver 1.07 billion colors
resulting in excellent color details and no
loss in tones and hues, it also provides
a high dynamic contrast ratio which
helps produce amazing and vivid

I think this is the one that I read about on engadet about two weeks ago. They said it's good but not as good as the 27" new that matches Apple's iMac screens.

I have the U2410. I like it.

And it came out about a year before the new 27" one from Dell.

Then the one I was reading about is not the U2410.

Isn't the 27" the same panel that was causing yellow screens on the 27" iMacs? The last I read of that issue on the Apple front was that the problem was caused by a manufacturing defect in the panel itself. I'd be very hesitant to by the Dell monitor if it indeed is using the same panel.

FYI for anyone reasonably serious about using a Canon for video. I'm pretty sure somebody mentioned this back when Canon announced it, but now it's actually released.

so I think Ive given up on the 4/3 camera quest, I've decided that I don't want to get one and then have to build up (costly) lenses for it. I'd rather use that dough elsewhere. I think I'll get the S90 instead.

I don't think you'll have to build up a lot of lens for it. A fast prime, like a 20mm and a zoom, would be all you need.

I read about many of Nikon guys that have bought them though, most do what I've done, a D90 or D5000, after they have tried a 4/3rd or even a p&s.

oh also I read the new Olympus Pen focuses considerably slower than the Panny. I think that would bug the hell out of me. This old Nikon E4500 focuses slow as hell and it bugs me lol.

I guess I wanted a camera I could put in my pocket. But maybe carrying around a small SLR ain't so bad. Maybe I should look at that D5000.

I think you're going to be so use to a dSLR that a p&s just isn't going to cut it for you. It was the same way for me when I got that G9 two years ago. Sold it as soon as I got back from my trip.

i still want to pick up a S90, because there are times where even something small like a rebel or even those bigger ultra zooms are too big to carry around...

Better IQ w/o a few bell and whistles than the D90. Will be faster than a p&s though. Go to a store a mess with the S90.
