I was reading earlier about this subject, one quote was something like "those that can't do it are the one's that look down on it".

I can honestly say that I don't know how to do HDR. Or at least, well. Mainly due to lack of experience.

I don't look down on it. I've seen some jaw dropping HDR's and I could only hope that I could become half that proficient in it someday. I have different reasons/objections, however, to there being a built in capabilities for HDR production. Reasons which I'll keep to myself since I know some may not agree.

But that's my take on it.

I can do it, but not the way I like them.

I really despise the over processed stuff that you see everywhere.
There are some that work, but most of the time IMO they don't.

my thoughts on HDR are this. Those that know how to use it, and use it well, make some amazing images. The problem is that there are too many people that start and just go ape shit and take good pictures and make them worse in some instances

I know. However, it makes me go on the people who make blanket statements like that.

That's done anyways when people start using anything, single image or not.

Ape shit yes, but it's part of learning.

Both are the same image just processed differently.

I feel like having it widely available in camera will cheapen the work of people who have mastered the software. I could care less, personally about it being available, but could understand if people who process HDR's were bummed about it.

As an aside, I just purchased CS5 and LR3 upgrades. I've never used LR...shooting these horse shows has finally tipped my scales. It will really speed my workflow, and I'm totally stoked about it.

I don't think it will cheapen the work because I don't think it will be a replacement to software. But, I have been wrong about these kinds of things in the past.

uh oh.... so I dunno if this is a new lens for the four-thirds mount but I'd never heard of it before.... its a 50mm 2.0. it costs around $440 kinda steep but here is what it produces (full-size pic):

I dunno about you but that looks pretty damn good to me!

I have to confess that for some reason, these recent upgrades (LR 3 & PS CS5) just haven't hooked me. I really have almost no urge at the moment to get them. Of course, that may have to do with the fact that I've shot next to nothing in the past year.

It was HARD work too, I mean it was a tiring full day of shooting. I have been e-mailing my contact asking when I will be paid, and there is no answer.
making some progress on this today... and by that I mean I actually heard back from someone, saying that someone else is going to get back to me..

LR3 and CS5's better handling within 64bit is a reason to upgrade. But not using them is a reason not to upgrade.

Yes, but the latest (CS5 and LR3) have been tweaked to run better and with Apple, CS5 is really 64bit now.

Yeah, it's pathetic - I've owned LR1 for years, but never bothered putting it on my comp. I finally installed it, and had to upgrade so I could use it with my 7D's RAW files. I went ahead with CS5 because I've been wanting to anyway, and they were discounted when purchased together. Rationalization at it's finest!

I just upgraded to LR3 a couple of days ago, and I think it's great! There's a definite speed increase from LR2 on my mac.

Let us know if AZine needs to break out the pitchforks and torches and form an unruly mob for you.

We would love a 10% recovery fee, but honestly we work for pizza and beer.
