I'll admit it, I got excited when I saw the Olympus deal and started looking locally. About 30 minutes later the little voice in my head informed me that I was crazy and should step away from the computer. And, I listened to it this time, for some reason.

Just out of curiosity with those of use using the 7D... what AF mode do you use for most of your shooting? I find myself doing the zone selection and moving between the three middle (left/center/right) zones most of the time when walking around.

Angry

I swear, Canada Post (Canadian postal service) SUCK ASS. Last year, when I went back to SoCal, I sold 2 lenses through photography forums... one lens went to Germany, the other went to New Zealand. The guy in NZ got the lens in less than a week, the guy in Germany got it in 8 days (neither were delivered with any type of speedy/express delivery). I bought a lens from someone in Florida, it has now been 2 weeks and it's still NOT here. This IS just unacceptable. What are we? Livin' in the 1800s? I'm talkin' SAME continent here. I have NO doubt it's the f-ing Canadian customs... they have the damn package, and just taking their damn time on it. My theory is that they want to tax EVERY opportunity they can by being anally thorough. It's NOT necessarily a "national security" issue... or looking for drugs... it's simply THAT, it's because they want to TAX every f-ing thing they can.

no, I got taxed for a lens that was sent to me from Florida. The seller claimed it as "gift" but when he insured it, he put down the value as $500... So, when I got the note to go pick up the package at the local post office, on the note said I had to pay for the $80 tax.

this is what pisses me off... see link

I tried pleading with the postal employees, but they didn't want to hear it... they just said, it wasn't their deal... but the customs'... (they probably have to deal with the bull shit all day long and just didn't want to hear it)

That's so lame. So what if I was shipping something from your house in SoCal to you?

You'd get taxed when you pick it up if I insure it?

not sure what you mean, but if I was to ship something from Vancouver (to myself) in SoCal... I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be tax on the US side. It's just how they are here in Canada... they are like tax nazi's.

...and I think it's a luck of the draw... if the package just happens to be checked by a custom's agent that's having a good day, and maybe just anxious to go home... you might get lucky. I hear it's kinda the same way at the borders too.

oh yeah, they would.

but I think if that seller had put down a lower value, they probably wouldn't have taxed me.

but to be fair... I pm'd the seller to tell him what happened, not really trying to make him feel bad, because it's really not his fault... He freakin' Paypal'd me back half the tax ($40), because he felt bad.

For landscape and city type shots I will use Auto selection or Zone depending on what I'm shooting. For people / event photos I most often (probably 90% of the time) have it set to Manual point selection. This is because I have kind of a 'typical' way I compose shots, with the subjects off-center. I very rarely have them in the center. If it's a tight spot and a lot of people and kind of a hectic type of situation I will sometimes set it to Auto or a Zone mode, just so I don't have to fiddle with checking the AF point.

Damn that is definitely a crazy deal.

I bought a bundle like that with the T4i. Sold the 18-55 for $90, sold the 55-250 for $120, sold the printer for $90. That's $300 I got back AND the $400 rebate .

dafuq? MSRP on that printer alone is $499!! it does seem to be discounted heavily across the interwebz tho (I'm seeing it for $138 at B&H and Adorama (after a mail-in and instant rebate) - but still - that printer is no slouch!

http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs...0051_212754_-1

hmm that seems to be a really good printer! it's "large format" prints up to 13" x 19". and a great deal at $138.

I just wonder... for those people that get the bundle with the printer, how many actually use it? (or at least how many people actually continue using it after the ink is out? )

I had to look at it's Amazon reviews... and they are varying pretty wildly across the board. I'm seeing that it makes stunning color and is fast for color printing but very very slow for B&W... the ink is expensive and doesn't last long, along with numerous other oddities. I was slightly considering buying it but I think I'm not going to. it looks like it's operating cost is gonna be reflective of its MSRP... (which makes sense).
