one of the coolest things about this NX1000 - and something I don't have on any other camera - is the Wi-fi and social media sharing options. If it works as advertised, you *can* share a photo from this APS-C sensor camera directly to Facebook. It's something I even recall talking about with someone on FB the other day (whether there was any APS-C camera that could upload directly to FB) - and I think the gist of the convo was that there was no way to do that - I didn't know about this camera. You can also set the camera up as a wifi hotspot, and then your phone connects to it via Wifi - and you can then upload images to the phone or use the phone as a remote trigger. This wifi functionality is something I've desired, and I think this will fill the bill well. Also the menu system looks great. I have read some negative things about it, such as slow AF and startup time, but honestly at this price, I'm ok with some shortcomings.

Finger on the trigger, I am not sure yet.

This is why I let things like this "sit" for a while.... I forgot I have a much higher priority item on my wish list:

Amazon Amazon

and by higher priority I mean I actually NEED this, whereas with the NX1000 I totally do not need it.

we were talking about cameras with a APS-C sensor. I would guess there aren't too many of those that can do it.

The original 5 was okay, there was huge improvement with the sensor from 5 to 5N and the added hybrid contrast/phase detection on the 5R, but I think the phase detection only works with some lenses.

For some reason, the 5N still does a slight better in low lighting/high ISOs, but IMO the wifi feature of the 5R can be handy, especially if you have a phone that can hotspot

Yeah, basically the same camera, the 6 has a EVF, hotshoe AND popup flash but no touchscreen and bigger body. IQ wise, they are identical

I actually have a Samsung P&S sitting around that can do that, it was one of the first to have those features. I bought it because at the time my phone wasn't taking pictures right, wouldn't focus right, of course the issue was fixed after a update. But yeah, I DO believe Samsung was the first to come up with it

I've never checked, but I would think it's NOT full resolution that's being transferred via Wifi though.

yeah I don't know the detail on that - but for sharing I would assume it's a smaller size.

The Samsung does also have a copy function, where you could actually copy the original files over wi-fi to your computer if you want.

btw just to clarify, I'm not saying I think the NEX is overpriced or anything like that. From all the reviews I've seen it has a superior sensor, it's faster with AF and other things like that. I mean it costs that much for a reason. This is more of a toy for me, I mean if I get it - so that is why I would be interested in the Samsung and not the NEX. The NEX is a more 'serious' purchase.

Srika just get an eye-fi card. Your rx100 is eye-fi compatible (meaning it has a built in menu to make changes in camera and your camera will remain powered on until all images are transferred)

You can upload directly to numerous websites of your choice when at a hotspot. It can even upload automatically to your computer when you get to your home wifi network.

And with direct mode you can auto transfer them to your iPhone/iPad. Do quick edits and upload to FB/Twitter/Instagram etc (it saves to your camera roll)

Hey guys, Ive been thinking i need to go back to basics with photography and thinking about getting a Canon A2E Film camera. They are pretty cheap and use EF lenses. What do you guys think? I have a Minolta SRT200, but don't want to buy more lenses for it.
