I just discovered that one of my lenses focuses low and to the left instead of dead center.

Have any of you guys had to get a lens calibrated for focus issues?
Send back to Canon for adjustment or try a local camera shop?

Some cameras have that setting where YOU pick the AF point, maybe it's on that setting and it's off center and you're not aware of it

The only time i had that issue with AF was my 50 1.4, But i always had some type of AF problem with the 50mm. It could be the lens but it was bought new. I have just dealt with it and used it in MF mode .

On a side note: I noticed how quickly how i need more power using bigger softboxes now. Now i have to look at more powerful units.

for portable/on location purposes? If not, I'd say look for a used Alienbees B800, to be mobile you'd still need a battery pack, which can add up

Yea, i was looking into it, as well as the Camulet 300B with battery pack. In the end, im probably still looking for a bare bulb setup just because of its size.

is $125 for a used Manfrotto 190XPROB with 804RC2 good price? 9/10 condition

I currently have a very old Manfrotto 190 something, I think it's from the 80's... it works fine but I hate the way you tighten and loosen the legs, it's the (very) old style, where you have to turn the knobs... kinda annoying when I'm trying to setup for something and when taking it down.

Great news for photo threads.

We now have personal control over image sizes on Acurazine. You can even control how images open, if you click on them to enlarge.

Settings, Edit Options, "The Image Resizer". I have set mine, for instance, to 1800 wide because I am at 1920 wide and that gives space on the left for the user info etc and I see the image at a good size.

Also the default was changed back to 1024 (it was 950 for a while).

Thanks for the info on the Cheetah flash - I will definitely be going that route soon. Having serious flash problems Just wear and tear. And I would be so super happy to not have to deal with AA's in flashes anymore.

Are you talking about the battery pack or using the bare bulb flash at the club?

I need a new flash (again) - it's inevitable - I'll have to decide whether I want to get that flash - or get another 580 (or 600). Wish I could test it out before buying. I will definitely get the battery pack. Probably two.

Those flashes are really not meant to be used on a hot shoe.

Even people on POTN are question the purpose of the shoe.

No TTL metering. Just straight manual. Plus the added modifier would make it awkward to use.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll pickup a lightly used 580 (again). It fits the wear and tear I put on it.

lol this guy always bugged me for some reason, I don't know why - I don't like the way he reviews cameras, it doesn't seem useful.

so I can't help but at this
