shaving the head bald looks good on some people and not on others... it depends on the shape of the head. Just like some hair style/cuts will look good on some and not others... in which case it's the texture of the hair matters AND the shape of the hairline, and shape of the face too.

me? I would not look good with my head shaved.

Yep. I carry liability insurance and participate in the PPA's indemnification trust. That way I'm covered for personal injuries and/or failure-to-deliver type suits.

wndrlst knows way more about this stuff than I, and has much more experience doing it. I can't really comment on it (insurance), really. So, listen to her. :p

Ok....another obvious to most of you....but NOT to me....question:

What are the advantages to using full frame cameras vs. crop cameras?

Better IQ?
Ability to print large (13x19) prints?
Does it have anything to do with ISO capabilities?

One thing I like about using a crop camera is the "extra reach". *sigh

Also, manufacturers make their best lenses for use on full frame. You can use them on cropped as well, but that is not what they were designed for. You will never, for instance, find a Canon L lens designed for use on a cropped sensor.

I'm curious, do those guys that shoot NFL photos on the field have both crop And FF? I figure the crop for the reach?

They used to use 1.3x on the 1D.

Now I think they mostly use FF

Yes. Yet one of the most useful focal lengths is a crop only EF-S lens....15-85. Why wouldn't someone make a 15-85 for FF cameras? Doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway...Certain cameras do certain things well...Ex. 7D is supposedly great for moving subjects...cars, birds in flight, sports. Yet it is still rather crappy at high ISO, since it shares the same sensor as the T3i. Why can't we have both without having to pay $$$$$?

Just ranting I guess.

Ehh your 15-85 lens is equivalent to 24-136mm on full gram.

They do make a EF 28-135mm lens.... 24-105

When I can afford FF bodies and lenses, I'm thinking about switching over to Nikon. I really like what they did with the D800 and dislike what Canon did with the 5DMKIII (in comparison with the D800)

They could make it, if you don't mine a slow aperture or a lens the size of a sofa.

Inside the Camera Bag of Peter Reed Miller: Super Bowl Photographer

http://www.thephoblographer.com/2013...-photographer/

*4-Canon EOS 1D X bodies-Far and away Canon’s best ever pro DSLR. Honestly, I think this camera is best in the field right now. Beautiful files, super fast AF and stunning high ISO.

*600mm f/4 Series II Canon Lens

*400mm f/2.8 Series II Canon Lens (The new Series II Canon teles are the sharpest, fastest focusing and lightest long lenses I have ever used)

*70-200mm f/2.8 Series II Canon Lens a great go-to lens for almost any sport. I never leave home without it.

*24-70 f/2.8 Series II Canon Lens The new version of this lens is sharpest mid range zoom in Canon’s line-up

*16-35 f/2.8 Series II Canon Lens

The 400 and 600 lenses are on Gitzo Carbon Fiber Monopods; the 70-200 over my shoulder; the 24-70 around my neck; and the 16-35 is in a Think Tank “Speed Freak” belt/shoulder poucAlso around my neck is a Hoodman HoodLoupe (very helpful for checking critical focus especially on a bright sunny day). In addition, I have a Canon “Angle Finder C” in my pocket for low angle shots. I shoot on Hoodman and Lexar 1000X 16 and 32 GB cards. My carry on bags are a Think Tank Urban Disguise 60 and the Think Tank Airport Security Roller.

Good lawd! The pay must be wonderful to be able to afford those set of lenses, not to mention a collection of 1DX's

Any ways, my plan for a nice lighting system got shot. I just spent $1k on tires. But I'm not too bummed since the tires are a better investment cause I use them on a daily basis.

Inexpensive weatherproof hardcase w/padded divider

Quoting this from another forum

Long time lurker; First time poster. I figured it was time that I get in the game.

I was looking for an inexpensive weatherproof hard case with padded dividers and came across this solution from MCM Electronics:

Weatherproof Tool Box - 16.8" x 11.4" x 6.1" ID - $23.99

and

Padded Divider Insert for Type 50 Outdoor Case - $31.99

The case comes with pick and pluck foam which is pretty decent if that is all you need, but the padded divider set offers more flexibility for adding or changing out gear. This particular divider set was actually designed for a different hard case that was more expensive, but its dimensions were close enough that I figured I would give it a try. It fits like a glove and and I am quite pleased:

(Pardon the image shot with the smartphone)

I also ordered up the weatherproof tool box - 19.6" x 13.7" x 8" ID for $29.99. It too has pick and pluck foam, but I have not yet found a cheap padded divider solution. I should note that the picture that MCM used is not accurate for this case. This case actually has 4 latches: 2 on the top and 1 each on each side:

All-in-all I am pleased. The case construction is solid and exceeded my expectations. Sure - its not a Pelican case, but it is about half the price and it is pretty darn good!

MCM has $5 shipping for a limited time, so if you have been on the lookout for a cheap hard case solution, this might be the one you have been looking for.

Ed

Lou. man posing as photographer arrested in New York

Ramon Rodriguez was arrested in New York after being on the run from police for three years.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville man is accused of swindling couples out of thousands of dollars then fleeing the state.

Ramon Rodriguez was arrested Friday in New York.

Allegedly he would agree to shoot engagement or wedding photos for couples, cash the deposit checks, then never show up for the job.

We are told the crimes happened in 2008 and 2009. There are at least eight victims.

Any of you Mac users know how to assign more ram to a program? I want to assign more to LR4 and I forget how to do that.

I looked around and it looks like OSX does it automatically, based on program need. I did not find a way to do it manually.

have a look at the search I did if you like:

yeah on versions prior to OSX, you could set it manually. but with OSX they really wanted to dumb it down so even a squirrel could use the machine.

no no man, you are clearly much smarter, since you inquired about setting the RAM manually...

squirrels don't know what RAM is, let alone what it is used for
