tried out my friend's RX-1 today, WOW SWEET F'GGIN CAMERA. built like a tank, feels so solid.
unfortunately I was stupid and didn't think to put a memory card in it and shoot some snaps.

just reminded me of when I was a kid... getting catalogs in the mail was like one of my favorite things ever... Sharper Image, J&R Music World, computer stores, other electronics catalogs lol

I used to get the B&H catalog, but I canceled it because it was such a waste of money for them to ship it to me.

I'm thinking of planning a trip to the Smoky Mountains next year....looks like a photographers wet dream.
I was wowed by the glimpse I got of them when rolling through on either rt 40 or 81 last summer

I'm thinking about putting it on my list for next year again as well. But Charleston SC, may over take it, next year.

I went there last year during April, was pretty cool. Was suppose to go again this year a few weeks ago, but knee surgery had me cancel my trip, though the group I was going with had a great time.

Smoky Mountains rock - I remember going there a few times when I was younger on family trips - I remember the photos my dad took, it is pretty nice scenery.

Did rent a cabin, both last year and this year. Was a friend of a friend. We seem to be at the highest point we could have been for our location. And we got one hell of a rate. I paid less then $100 last year (four days) and lost $200 (because I couldn't go) for five days this year.
Very much a great trip. Fun, a lot to see a photograph.

^^^ I've never seen that one tall with a center column. I have one that when fully open, I can walk under it and still have room. And I'm just about 6'5".
The first time there were 11 of us, I ended up sleeping on my air mattress. This year there were going to be eight of us. And I was going to bed myself.

I just got the updated yahoo weather app, I like how it pulls images from Flickr for the location you're checking.

So really thinking I need to dump my 1D mainly due to the NIMH battery, I bought a new OEM np-e3 battery before my trip and it barely lasts a day with about 200-300 actuations and very minimal review.

About how much light does a CPL block?
Didn't realize it blocked so much until I tried taking shots indoors with it on. Kept wondering "it's quite bright why is my shutter so slow??"
Although it did come in handy for water/fountain shots.

Pulled this from Amazon. It's the Tiffen Circular Polarizer.
Filter factor varies between 2.3 and 2.8, according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun
I use mine when shooting my car because it's black and it helps a ton to shift which parts of the car are darker.
I've never taken it off and TBH I forget about it most of the time.
