That pic kinda reminds me of the dizzy feeling you get when you look straight up in a busy area. Nice pic

Is that a Corolla taxicab? Around here we don't have anything smaller than the old Taurus.

EDIT: How come you didn't bring the Infiniti over the border?

They not only have Corollas for taxi, most are Prius'.

I didn't bring the FX45 because at the time I wasn't sure how long I'd be staying. Plus that thing is a total gas hog. The gas here at the moment is about $1.30/liter and that's 87 octane. My FX requires at least 91 And since we needed a car up here anyways (I was renting for a while), we ended up picking up a used 06 Ford Fusion.

I had focused on the shoulder of the front right leg because I wanted to focus on the giraffe's skin pattern, only because even with the zebra blurred, you'ld be able to tell what that was because of it's skin. However, after I looked at the pic I noticed that the giraffe's head was blurry and second guessed if I should have focused on the head or not. Since the shoulder was at the same level as the ring, that's probably why it would appear I focused on the ring.

My camera is currently set to auto WB. Still very lost on what to set it to in different conditions.

Thanks for the suggestion.

picked up a sigma 50mm f/1.4 to replace my thifty fifty. Was stuck around the house yesterday so I fired off some test shots. All are wide open at 1.4. sorry for the shitty host, facebook compresses the images so much.

I like the light/colors on 9 and I think playing more with the subject on #3 could yield a more interesting shot (although it's neat as-is).

nice stuff, I love that one with the dog.

and, I love that you're taking photos out at restaurants, I feel that cameras (and photography) are so commonplace now that it should be fine to pull one out anywhere! ok maybe not anywhere but restaurants should be OK!

yea, thankfully the sigma 50 is less conspicuous. I asked the waiters if they were ok with me taking pics and they said go for it so I just snapped a few in between bites.

haha, the place was called espetus. We went to the one in san mateo but there's also one in SF apparently. There's also another brazilian bbq place called pampas in palo alto that people say is even better.
