Like I said to you earlier, go drive cars and quit mag racing. I don't even think you've even driven a TL yet and are just reading magazines, making assumptions, then pulling bullshit out of thin air.

Trolling Canuckistan
It competes with the A6, 5 Series, M35, GS, and E class in terms of size and features. It competes with the A4, 3 series, G35, IS, and C Class in terms of Price.

The only advantage of BMW 5 is new 8speed transmission. It gives lower rpm in freeway speeds and better economy.
but compare 6MT TL-SH-AWD with 6MT BMW 5 RWD with sport and dynamic handling package. TL will win hands down.

Yes, the brakes are so superior there are cases of warping showing up already on the 4th gen forums. Acura has SHIT for brakes. They always have.

No other car has this kind of Road presence.
TL-SH-AWD has BMW M3 like handling without wear and tear of suspension or brakes. The car is just superior built both in workmanship and design.
both TL & M3 are using PS2.
http://www.insideline.com/bmw/m3/200...term-test.html
Similarly, we recorded some degradation in braking performance, again a consequence of worn tires. At its first test, this M3 stopped from 60 mph in 105 feet, and then it did the same task in 110 feet at the end of the year. Both tests were notable for impressive brake feel, even if stopping distance changed.
While bald tires are a detriment to acceleration and braking, we've also seen this kind of rubber actually improve results in the slalom and on the skid pad, simply because there's less of the tread pattern to wiggle around. When new, our M3 gripped the skid pad at 0.90g, while in wrap-up testing it generated 0.94g. The slalom revealed the same behavior pattern, as it recorded 70 mph when new, and then went 70.4 mph at the end. All of these numbers, however, are slower than the results when we fit the car with the optional 19-inch wheels.

^ I love the irony in your picture above. You talk about how the TL has such great road presence yet in the picture you provide the TL isn't actually on the road, its hiding off on the side of the road. So much for road presence

Road presence means well proportioned size.
look at this Sonata SE pix. The door looks oversize relative to tiny trunk & windows. It is not well thought out design of road presence. Car looks cheap (As it is) but TL look imposing luxury with high quality feel even though only 5 inch difference in Size.

All of us non 4g TL drivers don't know shit about road presence with our inferior NVH level interiors, terribly non aerodynamic door handles, and how dare those other manufacturers to produce RWD vehicles such an inefficient design! Putting power to the rear wheels, that results in greater drive train loss you dolts!

Man, I should've gotten a 4g TL...I was looking at one the other day and said to myself, "Damn, those rear view mirrors sure look aerodynamic! If I could only own such a fine automobile, I can run circles around M3's while M3 drivers make M3 faces at me! Those 5/E/GS/M drivers gonna be trying to catch me ridin' dirty, dawg!"

Give it a year. There will be many. If its showing up already there will be more.
And your quote. So the car did it 5 feet different a year later. SO FRIGGIN WHAT. Were the road conditions the same? Were the temps the same? 5 feet a year later doesnt mean the car has excessive wear and tear of suspension. NOR does it mean the TL is superior Seriously. Quit posting this shit. Its really getting old!

Look at this TL pic. The doors look undersized, The front and rear over hang are oversized relative to its body. Its not a well thought out design of road presence. Car looks cheap, Especially that large gray plastic grille.

It has a lot of road presence too. Elegant design and I bet some nice aerodynamic side mirrors.
#1464
Whats up with RDX owners?
iTrader: (9)
Thats hilarious that hes using a Kia to "prove" how superior the TLs exterior design is

My first Avatar....
Thanks for posting a pic of a well proportioned car...uh.....THE KIA. The TL is the epitome of a sickeningly out of proportion car. I've listed the discrepancies many times before. You need to go study art/design/architecture/engineering to learn what is classically a "good design" with correct proportion. Perhaps you just have no perceptive ability?
How did you become so blindingly vexed by Honda/Acura? Seriously, Ive never seen ANYONE so blinded by a particular manufacturer as you.
Who was that Hyundai fanboi? msl??? You make him look like a Hyundai hater.

Back in the day he was anti-honda as recently as a year ago! It's a complete 180!

I am not a huge fan of the 4G TL. I think the grille is too polarizing. However, it's not a terrible looking car from certain angles. I think it has a better profile than the 3G TL. I like the profile. I don't think the rear end is bad either. Interior is in the upper thirds of its competitors.
However, the nose is just botched. Acura needs to tone it down substantially before I'd consider buying one. I plan on keeping my 3G TL for another 2-3 years. If I were in the market for a car today, it would be probably an S4 or a 3 series coupe. The IS is too undersized and personally looks like a chick's car. The G is to generic looking.

TL is wider, taller and longer than S4 but it is NVH, handling, breaking, weight is not that much worse. How your going to minize weigth of such a monster with AWD, wide heavier tires/rims, ACE body structure etc.
It is very difficult to minimize aeroflow around taller and wider cars. TL is as big as M37 and wider than Acura RL.
The top TL explodes out of corners without a trace of understeer or the old Type-S's torque steer and wheel spin. The TL is smoking fast over curvy, broken pavement - literally, as the brakes quickly reach their heat capacity.
The perfectly weighted, short-throw shifter is pure Honda heaven - no other car company does shift feel this well

It's not a GS/M competitor. They cost much more and the TL doesn't offer nearly as many features.

Look at BMW X5 price vs BMW 5 series. even though X5 engines/tranmission is imported. It starts $5K cheaper in US with AWD.
In UK BMW 550 SE starts $10K cheaper than X5 SE. so it is $15K total swing in price. Just the transportation cost across the atlantic or Pacific make $5k difference.

they aren't direct competitors. plain and simple.
#1476
They are direct competitors. TL is bigger than them. It handles better on stock tires FWD
It is almost 90% domestic content. Even BMW X5 dont have 90% domestic content but is so expensive compared to BMW 5 in EU.
TL made in Japan with 6speed would start where Acura RL starts here.
Even TSX V6 is $40K car without HDD navigation/Push button/3.7L engine/Down graded ELS/No LED in tail lights/Down graded interior compared to US made TL.
buttons on TSX interior is way cheaper than TL but it is Japan so expensive.

It is not just the seats that are different but look at doors. TSX is only two color. TL is three color. There is no rear vents in TSX. Car is severly down graded before it comes to US.
TSX V6 uses 235 tire size. TL uses 245 on both 17/18

My friend has a GS430 and again the TL and the GS are close friends. All are big comfy sedans, all great cars some sportier than others, some more comfy cruisers.
IMHO, they are all pretty close siblings. I don't understand people who don't see the M37x, GS 350 AWD and TL sh-awd as direct competitors: same weight, same length, same tires size, same fuel economy, great sound systems, quiet, comfy for 4 tall adults and a long list of features. All have their pluses and minuses, it all depends of what you're looking for but they are all well built...
Peace!
