The Genesis isn't as big as I thought it would be. It looks like it isn't bigger than a 5-series which is a good thing to me.

I am going to go test drive one this weekend. I hope I can find a dealer that has one for driving.
Cool! Let us know how you feel about the car after you test drive it. I'd love to hear it.

And good to hear that the car doesn't look as big as we've heard or thought. That is a plus.

There is no markup at Fitzgerald. I still think HIDs should come standard though.

That's good to know about Fitzgerald.

I agree about HiDs. I'm disappointed that you need to spend $7k in packages just to get it (the $3k Premium Plus Upgrade Ultra Whatever package is $3k plus the Tech package).

Hopefully I didn't sound like I was doing any promotion for them.

I went to their website and they show their "no-haggle" price (about $300 off MSRP) and the invoice prices on the models in stock.

Fitzgerald has a pretty good reputation so I don't think I'm going to get embroiled in a sales quagmire by simply going to look at the car on Saturday.

I'm afraid I'm going to write them a $2200 check for that lease though =o

WOW, that black one looks incredible.

Unfortunately when you tack on the prob $5000+ for custom wheels + tires, $250 for tint, $500 for lowering and the $7,000 for the tech + premium packages it adds up really quick to get it to look like that.

ONCE AGAIN:

The U.S. grill is the Korean "luxury chrome grill". The grill with the shiny black part in the center is for models w/ adaptive cruise control, which the U.S.-spec car does not yet have. It has a small camera that sticks out at the top of the center black section FWIW.

It'll still be less than a loaded CTS, 335i, C350, IS350 ... And look better

Yes but MSRP on that car now is $44,605. Still less than a V8 Genesis with the wheels and whatever but $40k for the V6 Genesis gives you more room to work with

Anyway, it's a moot point.

I'm going to Carmax Friday night to drive a couple cars before testing the Genesis sedan on Saturday:

2008 Acura RL - $39,998 with 10k miles (Jeezus!)
2007 M35x - $31,998 w/40k
2006 GS430 - $34,998 w/37k
2006 E350 - $33,599 w/37k

Obviously the performance of some cars will be different than others but I'm more going to judge fit/finish, ride, handling, options, etc ... Should be interesting.

The base V6 is $399
The fully-loaded V6 is $499

On a side note, they're also giving $500 off coupons on the Genesis if you take part in the Genesis tour:

As far as I can tell the Premium Plus only adds 18s on to the Premium?

Yep, the only difference between the premium and premium plus is the wheels.

These pics are definitely better than the "official" ones...maybe I was wrong about this car's looks. I'm looking forward to checking it out in person.

Hey guys, I know you have not heard from me for a while, but I've watchin & listnin. I have had the opportunity to check out the Genesis sport sedan in person, 6cyl version of course & it is every thing I hoped it would be. I have to admit that its on par inside & out w/my BMW 540i spt, except maybe handling, feedback, etc...but I'm willing to sacrifice ride & comfort for handling. I think I mentioned before that I'm down sizing & if the sedan is any indication of what the Coupe has in store, I'll be 1st in line to test drive one & hopefully buy one. I suspect the Coupe will have much stiffer suspension & if so, I'm sold. I haven't decided for sure if I'm trading the bimmer or going to keep it for a back up for long trips.

Those taillights don't do much for me. The whole rear fascia is kind of "meh", in the pictures anyway.

The headlamps look better without the orange crap too that N.A. absolutely insists on.

Headlamps will be an easy fix - just get the KDM clear ones. (If the KDM ones are clear).

Or just wait a couple months and they'll start popping up all over the place on Ebay.
