sometimes (or most of the time), the details is what makes or breaks a car's design.

Why would it need to be turbo charged?

The same thing can be said for the new camry, the interior is not a shinning example of what car companies should shoot for, but then again you don't need audi quality/style to satisfy most family sedan/coupe buyers. If interior quality was the indicator of a winner, the passat would be on top, not the camry.

In TypeRS's post pics, the sketched 7G looks generally the same as the actual 7G sedan. (It just needs to be dropped an inch or two and add a spoiler, an 18" wheel pkg and maybe a Comptech catback to make it fairly identical to the sketch.)

The trunk area is much more bulbous* and the lines are less sharp on the production vs the concept. These small differences between the two change the car (in my eyes) radically.

Again, like everyone says, Honda sucked the "aggressive" out of the 7G accord sedan.

perhaps i am really picky. i dont like it. The rear looks like a new Altima , although the front looks pretty nice. Really reminds me of the Evo X in that aspect.

I think it looks pretty good with the exception of the front lower grill. Can't wait to see one in person this fall.

Front end looks like the EvoX, from the b-pillar back it looks like a 335 coupe with some Audi-like side creases.

No chance in hell the quad exhaust makes production, but so far I like it!

Man ... I am very impressed with this concept model ... it's a shame this car will be sold (most likely) in 2008 ... too late for me. But I'd probably would have put this on the shortlist to replace my TLS with this car (provided the production model is 99% of what the concept looks like, less the exhaust).

The front is much better than the rear.
Front lights and grill reminds me of the Lexus IS.
Rear looks more like a Civic than an Accord.
Overall shape, looks like a Cougar attacked an Eclipse. not refined enough.

Though exhausts will never make it to production. I don't know how they would make it.... either with ginormous mufflers or a true quad exhaust system.

...wait... is that even possible? Ugh, sorry for the mindstray, its too early for me right now.

If it does come out in 2008, hopefully it will have "Advanced VTEC".... something Porsche came up with years ago.

WOW. I hope the production version is close to this and Honda doesn't pull a switcheroo on us like they did with the Accord Sedan.

Wow ... What a great looking car.

Good looking car. As already mentioned, I get that Evo feeling when looking at the front. The rear does conjure up thoughts of the Alty coupe, but just a bit. The green house screams 300Z/G coupe, but that's not a bad thing. The only thing I'd change is the lower grill on the front fascia.

2008 Honda Accord Coupe Concept

Revealed today at the Detroit auto show, the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe Concept reveals a totally new look for the next-generation Accord.

"The Accord Coupe Concept demonstrates the styling direction for the upcoming, eighth-generation Accord," said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda. "As the industry's target for midsize segment excellence, the all-new Accord will set a new benchmark for safety, efficiency, performance, refinement and style."

The Accord is Honda's best-selling model in North America and its debut at NAIAS marks the first time that an Accord concept vehicle has ever been shown at a major auto show.

I think the grill/front end looks more like a cross between a Nissan and maybe a tC. Not a fan. The rest looks pretty good. I'd buy one if it looked like that.

It has cues of a Hyundai Tiburon, BMW 6 series, Toyota Avalon, Toyota Camry, and a Scion tC.

I like it a lot. I do see design elements from Audi and BMW, but I also see Honda touches. The side windows are flushed flat for aerodynamics, like in the RL. The front is pretty much from the new JDM Stream.

I don't like the lower grille (the horizontal bars that is; I like the honey comb grille on top). Glad to see projectors, hope the rear still is LED, glad to see a normal grille. Overall I think it's a great recound from the current Accord.

The front grille is horrible...it does not flow with the headlights and the overall flow of the design.

It's clear Honda is getting it's design cues from BMW and perhaps a little Audi...but these days everyone is copying BMW.....even though everyone says Bangle is ruining BMW...yet his designs are being copied by everyone

This concept is the best concept to come out of Honda lately...much better than the Acura concepts, and the previous Honda concepts. It's an interesting coupe design. I don't think it flows that well...perhaps because the design is not really original, but rather borrowed designs and influences from other mfg. thrown into one overall design. Sure everyone copies everyone...but I think some items need to be smoothed-out/tinkered with to achieve a better overall flow. In the end, I like it.

I love the 5 series design - which I think is better than the 3 series. Bangle's design isn't that bad - pretty modern to me.

Compared to the current gen of Accord, this new design is much better, side is the best, front/rear reasonable - can appeal to the masses. grille will probably flow better with the style from Acura; the square stance doesn't go with other lines too well. Also, front overhang is huge.

wonder if an optional AWD will be available.

Credibility Rating: Not Specified

DETROIT, Jan. 8, 2007 – The Honda Accord Coupe Concept reveals a totally new look for the next-generation Accord, along with key technologies for safety, fuel efficiency and performance, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The Accord is Honda’s best-selling model in North America and its debut at NAIAS marks the first time that an Accord concept vehicle has ever been shown at a major auto show.

The styling of the Accord Coupe Concept conveys a powerful stance through its long hood, deeply sculpted lower body and fastback roofline. A six-sided grille and projector headlamps that recess deep into the front fenders contribute to an unmistakable and aggressive front fascia. Quad exhaust outlets integrated into the rear diffuser further convey performance and style beyond any Accord to date.

“The Accord Coupe Concept demonstrates the styling direction for the upcoming, eighth-generation Accord,” said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda. “As the industry’s target for midsize segment excellence, the all-new Accord will set a new benchmark for safety, efficiency, performance, refinement and style.”

A more powerful and lower-emissions V6 engine will provide higher fuel efficiency with the incorporation of Honda’s next-generation Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology. Honda leads the industry with the highest Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) rating for any full line manufacturer of 29.2 miles per gallon - well above the industry average of 25.3 miles per gallon.

As part of Honda’s “Safety for Everyone” initiative, all next-generation Accord models will include the company’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) Body Structure. Honda’s ACE Body Structure incorporates a front-end frame structure that helps absorb and disperse crash energy over a large area in a frontal impact. ACE also makes the vehicle more crash compatible in frontal impacts with vehicles of differing ride heights.

The current generations of the Odyssey (2005), Civic (2006) and CR-V (2007) all have the ACE Body Structure. Together, the ACE-equipped vehicles represent more than 50 percent of all 2007 Honda vehicles sold on a sales-weighted basis. With the addition of the next-generation Accord to the lineup of vehicles with ACE, more than 75 percent will be equipped with the technology on a sales-weighted basis after it goes on sale.

Honda Accord History
The Honda Accord, currently in its seventh generation in 30 years, remains Honda’s best-selling vehicle worldwide and has consistently been one of the top five best-selling automobiles in the U.S. Known for its ride and handling, comfort and convenience features, safety, quality and refinement, the Accord delivers world-class style with sophistication and performance. The Accord was launched in 1976 with subsequent major re-designs debuting in 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998 and 2003. More than 9.5 million Accords have been sold in the U.S. since 1976.

Car and Driver magazine named the 2007 Honda Accord as one of the winners of its prestigious and highly competitive annual "10Best Cars" award. The Accord has achieved "10Best" status 21 times in the 25 years that Car and Driver editors have been conducting the competition, more than any other vehicle in the award's history.

Honda Accord Coupe Concept Specifications

* Type: Two-door Coupe
* Seating Capacity: 5-passenger
* Engine: V6 engine with VTEC and VCM
Glad to see the VCM used again but still not sure why it was not included on the RDX, MDX or even the CR-V.
