Acura: TLX News

The beak is ugly but that back is horrible. Way too many lines and angles and recessed trunk lid lines. When I rarely see a TL in front of me it looks like a smiling Transformer. The previous Gen TL was such a classic design, so elegant and balanced and so tasteful. This new design looks like a pre-skool toy.

But now you have tiny tailights on a big fat ass. It's like that fat girl with the tiny back pockets on her jeans

Thats one of my biggest on the new TL. It grew over 6 inches in length, a half an inch in height, and 1.5 inches in width, yet it only gained .5 cubic feet of interior volume and .5 cubic feet of cargo volume compared to the 3G TL. I'm just talking the base 4G TL here, if you look at the AWD version, it has even less overall room. I mean, except for gain 1.5 inches in rear legroom, the 4G TL actually lose headroom and front legroom compared to the 3G? Just boggles the mind how a car can grow that much bigger yet seems to have gained very little room and dimensions in the interior!

You guys are relentless.
The more I see the more I think the grille will continue to ride into the hood. If so. Unbelievable Honda could be so stupid. But that seems to be their modus operandi these days.
The other front and rear changes while not drastic are nice. You can now see the bumpers.

Its not that unbelievable, Everyone from the designers to those making the decisions are Blind, and High with every decision they have made in the last 4+ years

Or am I nitpicking?

^ Amen. Dammsit I was at Acura today. This thread brought me there. I thought I could imagine what the new grille will look like and I drove a 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech again! I still can't do it. It's just not pleasant on the eyes and I parked it right next to my TL so I had no problem getting back into my car.
That said, I almost closed on a '10 G37S for 1k under invoice today (offered me 15k for the TL with 68k miles), but common sense got the best of me and as my girl predicted we came back in our TL instead lol. I think when I have more money to throw down or pay for it in cash I might bite. I really like that car.
CPO'D CTS-V is another one I'd seriously consider as the price drops a bit.

^^^I certainly love my 2010 G37S. The updates have made it even more appealing than it was. Definitely the bargain leader in this segment (and a close third regardless of price behind the 335i and S4)....

While its decent looking its not the best. I hope you are talking about the 3rd gen type-s. The 4th gen is an abomination no matter how you look at it, just like the RL. the TSX isnt as bad anymore but its still not pretty. RDX, meh... ZDX.... meh

Yes the minor interior updates really helped, a little money spent towards sprucing it up went a long way.
As much as I am an HondAcura fan boy, it was quite a nice ride.
Hopefully this grille revision puts the TL in a better spot. I want to root for this car, just tough when it isn't easy on the eyes and is so huge.

The new TSX is an improvement over the old one in just about every category. Same with the MDX and even the TL has a much better interior and more power/TQ/AWD. The RSX is a joke though, I have one and I cant believe they ever labeled it an Acura, it shouldve been sold under Honda

And since there's no 4G Type-S I would have to be referring to the 3G right?

The new TSX isn't really much of an improvement over the old one. In some areas like room and quietness, yes, but in others its changes are nil or minimal. For one thing, it stuck with the same engine and transmissions with minimal changes, and opinions seem split on whether or not the interior is actually a step backwards in design and quality. Personally I think the quality is there but now it looks like a Mazda interior or something. Not as upscale. Some would also argue that it is missing some available features as well, which is probably up for debate. It's a good car without a doubt, but there's not much reason to buy it now over some other vehicles, whereas the old one had those reasons.

When the 3G TL first came out I actually had trouble telling the two apart.

If it looks like this, it will sell better
My biggest complaint (and echoed on here by many members) is that unlike the TSX and MDX, the TL shnoz protruded onto the hood. It looked like an afterthought, like the designers were trying too hard.
Certainly not perfect, but a step in the right direction.

I think the new grille is an improvement, although it's still an ugly car. And yet, when I see them driving by I can't help but look. Morbid curiosity I guess.

I think the photochopped image could be improved even more:
Loose the silver wings inside and put the logo against a black background in the middle.
Can someone do that and give the result here? That would be interesting, but I have no skills in that area.

How true. When I take my cars in for oil changes or regular service at the Honda and/or Acura Dealerships, I stay in the waiting room and read a Magazine, or get the wife to follow me there and just drop the cars off. How many Accord Coupes and/or Acura MDX's can you look at? There is nothing else to see on the lots.
#5278
our dealer cant get rid of the TL's they have in inventory. They just sit there. About the only thing i ever see different on the lot is the MDX.

- Accord coupe. Love it.
- Civic Si. Really love it.
- Fit. Quite cool.
Sure, it's the in thing to bash Honda these days...but, they still have some decent products. I would not mind hooliganing it around town in a Civic Si.
