A used '07 (or even '08) MDX is the best answer...reliable, has most features I want, is convenient to carry stuff in, I don't need winter tires, reasonably priced for slightly used models, and probalby gets better gas mileage than my M45S. I will miss the keyless ignition and cooled seats and a couple other little thigns, but those are minor "perks" that I can do without in exchange for price and convenience.

Keyless start.... *sigh* I've got it on my RL and I do miss it on the X. I really don't know what Acura is waiting for with that option ESPECIALLY if they say they want to be Tier 1 Lux. They just keep saying one thing and doing the other.
Doesn't look like the new TSX has keyless start and entry based on the released specs.

Acura’s next-generation RL to have V8 400hp engine, aimed at Lexus
Source: eGMCarTech
While the 2009 Acura RL just showed up on the map at the Chicago Auto Show, Best Car is already speculating on the next-generation RL.
The magazine says that Acura may be looking to offer a 4.5 liter V8 engine that produces in the excess of 400 horsepower. The next-generation RL is also rumored to have a new rear-wheel-drive architecture. Best Car speculates that the car will arrive in Japan in 2010 and believes it is what Acura needs to go head-to-head with Lexus.
Recently reported, Acura is working on a “huge shift” next year that will move the brand closer to tier 1 luxury brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus. Next thing you know Acura will do its own M, AMG and F thing. Wonder what they’ll call it.

Unfortunately the ONLY model I see myself considering in the near future is the current gen MDX, even though I can't seem to muster up enough "love" to buy it new and will settle for a used one.

But when they said, "Honda, the power of dreams", we missed the part where they said "literally".

This type of thing got old a long time ago, to me at least. Hyundai is close to passing Acura in many people's car shopping lists.

400 hp V8 RWD RL - if true, it can perhaps rescue the Acura brand image from further sliding away from the "near-luxury" status toward "economy".
#1783
^ sadly, there's a 100% chance it's not true. 50% for the V8 part, and 50% for the RWD part.

Acura is rumored to be workign on a V8 for the ridgeline..so if true i do see them using it in other vehicles much like the current j-series. However if they do not go v8...then it will stay v6 with turbo or V10 since there is development already going on in that area more than the v8 side IMO.
Its all about power to weight ratio. Look at GTR....they kept it v6.

uh... V6 TT..
power to weight ? okay, ever hear about FD's running LSx's ? the LS1 is lighter than the 13b-rew w/ turbos...
just because an engine is an 8 cyl doesn't mean it's big and heavy.
well since no one else has posted this yet:

that's...pretty hideous. Kinda like the Accord the way it is, thanks.

Its taken ages for a 2G NSX. So I can imagine how long it takes for an actual RWD V8 car in the line up. Hopefully my children's children will see this some day.

V8 Powered Acura on the Way
TOKYO — Remember that oh-so-ugly Acura Advanced Sedan Concept we saw at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show?
No prizes for guessing that it was indeed a design study for the next-generation Acura RL. Fortunately, Honda has listened to the criticism and has completely restyled the flagship sedan's exterior and distanced the face from the Accord's.
Actually, Honda has been listening to the word on the street very carefully, because it has finally decided to give the luxury sedan a V8, to help it compete with strong rivals in the U.S., including Audi, BMW and Lexus.
One source tells us that Honda is currently working on a 420-horsepower 4.8-liter V8, and will employ the same cylinder deactivation technology we see on the current Japan-spec Inspire V6, thus generating class-leading fuel economy figures.
But unlike the current RL, which sits on a front-wheel-drive platform and features Honda's SH-AWD four-wheel-drive system, the all-new RL will instead incorporate a rear-drive platform, one necessity that Honda planners have clearly identified in this segment, and a reconfigured SH-AWD system that engages the front wheels when rear traction is compromised.
Slated for a mid-2010 debut, the new RL is expected to land in showrooms wearing a higher price tag of over $70,000.

^^^ for once i have to say the rumors seem to be on par for once!! The price reflects what the RL would or should be in for a flagship utilizing a v8. That photoshop is so funny because its clearly a current accord kinda...but WAY better and more masculine! I love it...the rims..=meh

Can't 2010 come sooner??? I just can't bear to look at the "new" or "refreshed" RL with that ugly, ugly grille! This one looks and sounds so much better!!! Hopefully, we won't all have gone with other luxury brands by then! LOL
