If they don't have someone assigned to gauge online opinions, then that would explain why their marketing sucks ass so much

What the hell were they thinking at Acura?
I am a big Acura fan, but even I had to shake my head in total disbelief when I saw that tragic front grille.... what a total design failure there! What on earth is that junk at the front? It looks totally awful. I am so turned off by this now my next car probably is not going to be an Acura if they continue with this "design" trend.
Suddenly I think that the new Hyundai V8 sedan is looking HOT... sigh...
Oh, and please, no, please do NOT use this vomit-inducing grille on the new TSX!!!

BTW, it makes me ROTFLOL to think that they have been keeping this a "top secret" so that there was absolutely no leakage of any news of this re-"design" until today...
I guess it is SO UGLY that it has to be hidden from the public for as long as possible! LOL!
Whoever "designed" the grille needs to be fired immediately!!! Who else agrees with me?

Guys this means this is the best time to buy an RL. This car will be sold for a little over 40K soon. So you get more car for the same ridicoulesly low price of last year's model. Win/win.

I have honestly found a higher-end sedan that is now UGLIER than the Bangled BMW 5-series.

As you know my Dad is a hardcore RL fan (had 3) He even liked the 05 when they came out...
So I showed him the picture of the new RL...
He says hes now going to keep his 02 RL for good. Acura was able to somehow get the RL loyalist pissy.
![Jesus LOL](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/jesuslol.gif)
Luckily his 02 with 90k miles is still rock solid. Ken let me know when you update that interior.

I just want to know who at Honda conjured up that grill design and exclaimed, "this looks HOT Yo!!". It is ugly on the MDX and just as ugly on this.

I don't know about all of you, but I think that's it, Dick Colliver head of Honda and Acura should be fired! Why does he approve of all of these horrible designs? Same thing with John Mandel , both have no clue how to appease the Honda/Acura fans. That is why a lot of us have or will be shopping for other car brands like BMW, Infiniti, Audi, and Lexus. At least they give customers what we want and no ugly grilles like this!

Some dude
Its worth repeating:
Acura = the next Ford of NA.
on a side note. I like the MDX grill and this looks 800x cheaper than it.

Geeeeeeee-zus. I think some of us were willing to give Acura a tiny benefit of the doubt (I still like my '04 TL). This abortion erases any and all confidence that Acura has any design sense left. They've clearly lost their fucking minds.
I won't be terribly surprised if Acura disappears in five years or so, and Hyundai is clearly ready to pick up their slack.
Unbelievable.

Is there any Acura dealer, salesperson or sales manager reading this? What is your response? I suppose you must be really angry and frustrated that Acura is putting out terrible products like this that will make you lose money.....

Autoblog is raping the RL:
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/c...ore-power-mor/
And as long as the Hyundai Genesis keeps coming up I thought I'd throw this in (from Autoblog):
"Speaking with Automotive News, Hyundai's vice president of product development, John Krafic, said that Hyundai is expecting about 20-percent of buyers to opt for the 4.6-liter V8. Interestingly, Krafic said that cylinder deactivation and direct injection could be added on future models and that a supercharger could find its way under the hood to boost performance."

I think the head designer from Subaru came over to Acura ... remember the schnoz from the Impreza / Tribeca / etc? At least they killed that thing off and did a quick redesign. I hope they do the same with this.
Maybe it's a good thing I move over to another make this generation of vehicle. The upcoming TSX / TL should be fine ... so as long as this front grill doesn't show up.![Why Me](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/whyme.gif)
The RL has been ruined some more. Hope they fix it up in a year / two from now with a total makeover.

Three Wheelin'
1. A V12, let alone a V8 wouldn't move this thing any faster out the showroom.
2. I have nothing, absolutely nothing nice to say to the individuals who conjured up this powertrain combo. 300hp, and still the same old 5 speed automatic. A Mazda 6 has been available as a 6sp for years. Midsize Fords and Chevys come with 6 speeds. Only Acura and Infiniti are insistent on soldering on with 5 speeds.
3. I don't know where to start on the exterior design. The rear is a nice, bolder update. The side is still featureless. And the front.....well the grille doesn't do the car any favors. The nicest thing I can say is.....I'll give it more time.
Why bother with this MMC. Should have pushed the existing car for one more year and then completely revamped it.
Disappointing. Moderate rear seat room, and more tech features was never the problem. Conservative styling and poor marketing were the big ones. This update doesn't really do much for the former.
EDIT: What happened to the designers of the 3G TL. Were they on vacation when this happened?

Please say it aint so!
WTF is Honda thinking! Please tell me they took the wrong car to the show. This is one of the worst cars I have seen since well the new Accord Sedan.. I have been faithful to Honda and they finding ways to screw it up.. The 3 gen TL and first gen TSX is great IMO. The RL was ok to not 50k looking but ok... But this crap I would not give 25k I dont car what technology they say is on the inside. And if they put that ugly @$$ grille on the TL or TSX I hope they get brought out by Toyota. I hate Toyota but at least they try to make it right at some point...Look like im getting an S5 at the end of the year.. I might just keep my current TL now since it might be the last good looking car Honda will make before they ran the car int he ground.

- Blue and White LED lights are on order (making the gauges look like the 2004 RL)
- Got a wood/leather shift knob, chrome shiftplate from the '04
- 2008 Navigation DVD
- Working on getting rear seat heaters
- Going to add XM soon too as well as the twiddler speakers that are on the front doors on the '04 RL

problem is, because it looks soo much like the accord, it doesn't look like anywhere near a $50k car. maybe $35k.

Hmm...

I can't say I'm disappointed. I knew Acura was going to find a way to eff it up.
BTW that grille is from the Sports 4 concept...except 1) it looked way better and 2) it look appropriate on that concept.
![](http://www.sport-cars.org/site_img/large/2005-Honda-Sports-4-Concept-7.jpg)
Acura can't seem to understand that it wants to sell the RL to the luxury crowd, yet choose to style it like a 35K TL, which sells to a different crowd.
