Acura customer: What is going on with the front end of this car?!?!?
Acura salesman: Pay no attention to the front end....Look at this cool interior lighting!!
(distracts upset customer with flashing LED mood lights)
Acura research has shown that the blue shade of lighting will calm customers when they get upset over the Acura beak.

Spied: 2010 Acura Sport CUV
A still-unnamed prototype shown here with a digital illustration was spotted for the first time this past summer and based on all the photos accumulated (as well as a few knowledgeable sources), we are speculating - contrary to the camouflaged disguise - that this will have so-called coupe-like styling (similar to BMW's X6).
We also believe this CUV may be riding on the same chassis as the freshly-debuted 2009 TL. This would probably mean similar, if not identical, powertrain setups.

What Would Don Draper Do?
yea i thought they looked familiar.
truthfully, i like its looks. i'm in the minority that likes the X6 (as useless as it is).
but i'd rather see a proper coupe instead of an SUV coupe.

I'm with Dom on this one! It ain't gonna look this(illustration) good. Have you seen the camo'ed spy shot of the real thing! This drawing shows the CUV with a FR(axle-to-dash ratio) architecture, whereas the camo'ed one is def. FF. It's the FR proportion that makes the drawing look so good, IMO.

well, in acura's defense, there's a huge market for the small CUVs so going after the X3 is a no brainer although their implementation sucked.
but yea...the X6 is such niche vehicle, i'd rather see acura go after the 3 series coupe or the 6.
but what can you say about the logic of acura at the moment.
+1.
and especially if they put the TL grille on it.

well, the BMW killed the BMW M3 CLS model planned at the end 2009, in favour of the useless and idiotic M X5 and M X6...
Acura thinks that a new CUV should sell more than a new coupe'...

And while a lot of us, myself included, say our next car won't be an Acura, the fact is, if Acura has model out that meets our criteria when we want to get a new car, we will look at it/consider it. Is the next car you buy going to be the last? I doubt it. So they loose you now; if they come out with a true 3 Series beater, I bet they catch you again.
Not saying this will happen, just throwing that out there...devil's advocate, if you will.

The sizzle in the Steak
...because Acura's line-up was doing so well it needed a niche vehicle...

I'm soooo close to pulling the trigger on a Venza/RX350 but I would like to see what Honda/Acura has in store. I wouldn't want a "small" CUV, rather a "medium" one would do fine. I'd also seriously look at an Accord Wagon too.
I think Acura would do better as an automaker to cater more to the affluent family types rather than sports car nuts.

I know it sounds crazy cause the 3rd row thing is such a hot topic for families, but the MDX as a 5-seater (ie shorter wheelbase) would probably be a better vehicle than a brand new CUV.

It's sad, but my first acura is probably my last...
I don't know why they couldn't serve both markets... other car companies (bmw, infiniti, lexus, etc etc) do...

I bought my MDX one year ago and NEVER used the 3td row. It's useless, and with 10-15 cm less this SUV would look even better..
I have a big dog and in the MDX he feels great! I know that in the X6 or a new Acura CUV there would be no room in the boot for him...
These CUV are useless and ugly.

If your post is missing, it's because you are apparently having trouble STAYING ON TOPIC.
Repeated violations will lead to stronger sanctions.
What's so hard to understand about staying on topic: Acura Future Models?

The third Gen TL owners also took a bath as you can easily find 2006TL with Navi and 50K miles for well under 19K

Valid point. People still want SUVs, but don't want the crappy mileage they typically get; there's a big market for this type of car/truck. Plus, they did say they were going to be introducing a bunch of new vehicles over the next so many years; obviously this is one of them...it's just not the one people like us want.
And while a lot of us, myself included, say our next car won't be an Acura, the fact is, if Acura has model out that meets our criteria when we want to get a new car, we will look at it/consider it. i don't know how many girls and moms and grandmas i've talked to that love and/or want to buy CUVs.
and i would say that i'm willing to look at another acura again. but that depends on my budget and what kind of car i want. a V6 TSX intrigues me at the moment. (not that i'm even considering looking at a new car.)
it's great, in my opinion, that acura's making more vehicles. i just hope they'll make another coupe soon.

again, i like the design of the car (so far). hopefully, it doesn't get the TL's grille but rather the TSX's like in the illustrations.
at some of the comments:
by design, yes, it is an X6 "fighter" like the article says. but i'm curious as to what acura/honda has in store in terms of engine and drivetrain. but realistically, i dunno how this will even come close to the X6 and FX.
FX > X6 > acura's.
at some of the comments:
being the "sportiest SUV" is like saying you're the fastest obese person you know.
FX > X6 > acura's.

Jedi, said he was 'curious as to what acura/honda has in store in terms of engine and drivetrain.'

I'm the Firestarter
I always wonder if the people responsible for these shitty designs feel bad later when they read the bad reviews, or if they just feel like misunderstood artists.

My thoughts exactly. I can see the meeting at Acura now.
Person A: Hey Mark, I was just thinking... ummmm, now that we made our mid-level sedan bigger and better than our high-level sedan and beat it silly with the ugly stick. I was just thinking, how else can we F up Acura anymore?
Person B: ~Sticks his head in the door while overhearing the conversation.~ Hey, we could dicontinue our world class sports car after basically no improvements over it's 14 year run.
Person A: Naaaaah... been there and done that. That's how I made it to this high level position in the first place. We need something new and fresh.
Person C: Well ummmm, we could try to bring the sportiness back to the brand by creating a G35 fighter?
Person A: Why would we want to do something like that? Who buys G35's anyway?
Person D: BMW owners... the people that we used to go after.
Person A: Hummmm, BMW. Hey Steve, what's hot over there at BMW right now?
Person E: Well the 5 Series is a great seller and still looks good after all these years. Also, the 7 Series is a staple and we don't really have a car to compete with that.
Person A: Naaah, too basic, too expected. Hey, what's that BMW that that ghey guy down in Auditing bought his ghey lover?
Person F: You mean the X6 sir?
Person A: Yea, the X6. I like that concept. It's large like an SUV, but without the room. Yet and still it retains the bad gas mileage figures and handles poorly. It's also not meant for off roading and isn't good for hauling either. We should copy that concept.
Bill... Bob, you're going to be over this project. Get to it! I think that we have a winner on our hands.
Bill to Bob: Why did we ever leave Infiniti?
Bob to Bill: Because it was 2002

I hope Acura comes out of their comfort spot and make it look completely mean, instead of the traditional "Happy/Angry" face on the front end everyone likes doing.
