After listening to Savage Geese's Q&A session, their review of the Type-S should be out this Friday. Should be fun.

We have heard it over and over that the sound system in Acura cars are at least $5K extra with the competitors. And Acura gives it pretty much standard in their vehicles. This is not something new.

Anyone have any insight on how the Base trim's audio compares to the Accord?

I wouldn't say standard. From what I understand, the 3D ELS system found in the top trims (A-Spec, Advance and forthcoming Type S) is a big leap from even what folks have in the Tech package ("normal" ELS).

Having had a lot of seat time with the ELS system the past 4 years it is ok. Maybe the Gen 2 ELS is much improved but the Gen 1 TLX ELS left a fair amount to be desired. Probably better than most though. Actually thought my 07 type S system overall sounded better and don't recall who made that one. Could never dial in the TLX ELS system that well and I tried for a long time adjusting it before settling on the settings.

You see, I wouldn't choose an Audi, even if it was cheaper at $20,000, for me an Audi would rubbish it and I'd be ashamed to drive it. I've been driving Hondas/Acurs for 20 years, I've never needed a tow truck, friends in an Audi several times. In my opinion, the Acura is ageing more slowly, the interior materials in the Audi are wiping much faster, and the interior and driving experience are the most important to me. Besides, with us every simpleton buys Audi, Acure imports people with fantasy and style.

What exactly speaks fantasy about new Type-S? That it's hard to find in dealers 🤷♂️

??? Translation in English. What people is ACURE importing and why?
BTW you really need to be sure of exactly what you are writing before you call other people "simpletons"

Always thought it was interesting with randos getting to review the cars. Same thing happened when the TLX came out last year, I think one of the first reviews was from someone with few subscribers.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing more tomorrow and we should get a chance to check it out in person in two weeks.

Honest review by SG, they loved the chassis dynamics/handling, did not like powertrain specifically the 10AT in manual mode. Everything else they thought was very good (audio, paint, interior, .....)

Just finished watching SG review! There are so many reviewers out there (good or bad), but when it comes to quality of content, video production and technical details, NO ONE can beats these two
It was a 30 min treat on a Friday morning. I am happy that they pointed out all the pros and cons in a very professional and data driven way and not "he thinks or she thinks".
The car may not be perfect in manual mode, but Acura chose to do that. The last few minutes are just great and everyone should pay attention to 24:12-24.50 minutes! Don not forget the 99.9%

haha! call me biased but after this video I believe more in Honda and Acura and I think they did a great job for 99.9% of the buyers. I watched all the reviews, but I was just waiting for SG. Accomplished!

Interesting that they didn’t ding it for its weight, which I think is a testament to how good Honda is at making cars handle well. I expected this car to be the best handling of the bunch based on my experience with the regular TLX, so it’s good to see that still holds true.
I did notice they mentioned that the car is dead up to 3000RPMs in first gear. Looks like it’s still pulling power in low gear, which makes me wonder just how much more power tuners can expect to safely extract before they destroy the driveline. I’m inclined to say it’s probably still the SH-AWD system that’s the limiting factor, since we know they had to pull power in the RDX and TLX but not the Accord 2.0T.
Sounds like at the end of the day it’s hard to go wrong with any of these cars, but I’ll probably hold out for the IS500. The V8 is tried and true and has all the emotion missing from this J30 engine, and if I’m one of those 99.9% of drivers who daily drive these cars, I’d rather have that peach of an engine than the superb handling and SH-AWD.

I went back to the dealership yesterday with a car seat in tow to see whether the Type-S is still in the running to replace my wife’s 1G (she’s unexpectedly taken over my Volvo because she says it’s much nicer to drive and can charge for free at work).
Unfortunately, looks like the Type-S will be out of the ruining. The car seat doesn’t comfortably fit behind the seats without having to scoot it up uncomfortably close to the dash, and while it fits great in the middle seat, the combination of the raised middle seat and the low roof makes loading a rear facing infant or toddler quite challenging. There’s just enough room for the side seats, but that center seat sits at least a couple inches higher. I have no idea why they thought this would be a good idea...maybe to make the rear side seats feel more like bucket seats and this sportier? Whatever the reason, quite the bummer that a 4 door sedan larger than an Accord would do so poorly when it comes to baby duty .

I had no problems with fitting a car seat in the middle seat of the IS. Like I’ve noted before in the TLX there was enough length for the middle seat, but there was not enough height. The middle seat is raised considerably and the roof is lower as well. Not a good combination. It’s practically useless except for kids and front facing car seats; my wife is 5’5 and even she has to hunch over a little when sitting in that seat.

The outboard seats requires the front passenger to sit uncomfortably (and dangerously) close to the dashboard. I actually measured with a tape measure and it’s about 2 inches closer than in the S5 SB. The TLX (both 1G and 2G) have exceptionally thick seat backs which eats into the room for the top of a rear facing car seat.
