2021/2022 TLX versus the Competition
#761
I am not excusing it but it looks like Honda has gone the same route and you can only get HL on the Civic with Touring trim (sedan) and Sport Touring (hatchback), the SI does not have it. Outside of chip issues maybe they did some market research and found that most owners don't use it and use other apps for those features instead? I have never had a use for it and never used it in any of the Honda/Acura products I have owned but I know others who do.
And I know it's an unpopular opinion but I do think leaving Navi off of the Integra was a mistake, especially when in comparison to Honda's models.

I've said before - the lack of Homelink (from even the top trim level not just the lowest) in the Integra is an utterly baffling omission and is symptomatic of Acura's odd decision making process in general. If Acura really wants to play in the Lexus/Infiniti/Genesis Asian luxury space - the inclusion of a feature found nowadays even in basic non luxury cars is a must. Yet, you can get a HUD in an Integra. To me, offering HUD and not such a basic feature makes absolutely zero sense. I would love to hear from Acura's Integra design project leadership an explanation of this omission that does make sense. I would even challenge them to come up with a sensible explanation.
Acura is supposed to be the upscale end of the Honda line. Leaving features out is inexplicable to me. At least it has a HUD.

I agree. As near as I can tell, every Honda/Acura model and trim has had Homelink since 2007. We certainly used it on our Accords, the Pilot and my TL-S.

Not everyone has a newer Smart Garage-Door-Opener. I can't imagine having to use my phone ... might as well just clip the remote back on the sun-visor.

Do I need it? No, I manage to drive the Pilot without it, but I sure miss it.
I also drove without power brakes, anti-skid brakes, power steering and dozens of other items that are now basic technology.

Team - can we please keep the threads a bit more relevant. It doesn't help when people go around the circle and add irrelevant content. Or topics that have been discussed million times. I will create a fresh thread and call it TLX vs. THE CAR INDUSTRY, you can have all your discussion there about Acura TLX and the rest including Tata Nano....
thanks you!
thanks you!

And I went over 65 years of driving without a HUD. Now that I've had one for half a year I hate to drive my wife's Pilot that lacks it.

He definitely doesn't have many fans in AZ...

Watching automatic cars drag race is as exciting as watching paint dry. Never know when someone will mis-shift or or launcher poorly with launch control enabled.

Also kind of funny that people thinks he's a TLX hater when he liked it...

Launch Control?
Is it just me, or is he neglecting to use launch control??
I doubt is would beat the Merc (which launches from a dig like it's got a tune), but the Type-S should do better than it does with him driving. I'm pretty sure he'd find a way to lose if he was driving an M5.

That said, in the case of the Type S I don’t think it really matters. Its launch control (if you can even call it that) is only 2100RPMs, which is pitifully low for a turbocharged AWD car.

I doubt he used launch control because from past video it looks like he never does. In fact I don’t even know if he brake torques cars.

Sam is a super nice guy and I actually support him. He tries his best to bring something exciting for his viewers. But sadly, he cannot drive. No matter what car you give him, he will lose
Sam is not against Acura or TLX, but I can tell you one thing that Acura probably brings him the most money. We all know based on this forum that TLX and TLX TYPE S have created insane buzz in the car industry for almost 3 years now. Those who love it or hate it, regardless comment, view and have an interest in this car. So when Sam does his drag races or reviews the TLX, he gets more clicks. No one cares about C43 or Q50. These cars are stale. Since, 2019 Acura has done a great job marketing their cars and brining one of the best lineups in the industry!
Way to go Honda and Acura! Bring the RDX TYPE S now

LOL the cars are automatics, it doesn’t require much other than quick reflexes. It doesn’t matter who was driving the car it’s going to lose against the C43 and the RS. The reason he keeps bringing on the TLX is because Acura fans keep asking him to, he’s mentioned this before but outside of that to say nobody cares is just being a fanboy. The C43 was just revamped and plenty of people are interested in how the new one is even though the one in the video is then outgoing model. The Infiniti yes nobody cares about Infiniti, the Q60 is dead and the Q50 is so dated it’s pathetic.

It's all about the $$$! Who brings more money to these youtubers....no one cares how C43 drives. Everyone is invested and want to know how TLX is....TLX is the car that fanboys and non fanboys are interested. At this point, we all know the TLX is not a fast car. So why over and over people ask? The answer to that question is, TLX is the car that standout in a competitive market and the design and functionality are better than all of the others. 80-90% of buyers don't car if 0-60 is a friction of a second is slower.
Just look at this forum, everyone is talking about the TLX, good or bad. But people talk and have an interest. Otherwise, why would you waste your time! 2 years in a row, TLX has created an insane amount of buzz in the car industry! Well done Acura/Honda team!

There’s a reason why he hardly has super car races, he races cars most people can afford and want to see because it’s more realistic. Acura has a lot of fan support and he’s mentioned it several times they keep asking him to bring a TLX to go against x, y , z car. Unless you have data to back up your 80-90% don’t care then you’re just pulling out random numbers. That’s an enthusiast site and enthusiasts care about that otherwise why not just get the A spec? Of course speed matters and he doesn’t even Dragy zero to 60 times. If you go to other car forums nobody is talking about the TLX so you know who is asking him to keep bringing it on.
What's the average age and household income of a $60K (USA) and almost $75K(CAD) car buyer? I can say with confident that most buyers are not 25 years old and earn $80K.
Just based on people that I know and their cars are in the range of $60-$75K, their average age is 35+ and household income of at least $250K CAD. Sure they love cars and performance but non of these people race or buy a Type S or S4 for any other reason that daily commute. Now those who can afford $100K-$200K, sure they care about speed and HP. i put those buyers in a different bucket.

Great summary and feedback! I do not have the data to back it up, but I just use common sense. Most of the enthusiasts that want high HP and 0-60 in 4 seconds will only buy this car when the value drops 40-50%

The average car cost in the US is 50K and most people here regardless of age are taking out long loans to get them , there's people making 50K a year buying 100K cars. There is a reason why you see so many Mustangs, Scatpacks and Hellcats. They are relatively cheap and fast, people want to go fast otherwise cars would not be getting these higher previous sportscar level HP numbers you see now on even some base model cars. Also 100K-200K car isn't always a performance car, many people who pay that for those cars are buying SUV's and Luxury cars like an S Class. Plenty of people not paying 6 figures for a car want to go fast.
Tbh, I just don't want to comment on the finance of people and offend anyone. But if you are making $50K or $70K a year and buying a $50-60K car, there is a something wrong. That said, I will leave it here as I may offend people and it's not fair to judge anyone. All i can say people that I know and who owns $50K and plus cars, they don't make $50 or $100K.
The rest I leave it to you to make your conclusions!

Some of us may instead be married to a spouse who makes enough money to carry household bills and such from their income alone. So it frees up income for us to spend more of our income on a faster car etc. so long as the spouse is ok with their partner spending a lot of their income on a car.

everyones situation is different but unless you making 150k++++ buying an expensive car is never a great financial choice.
Living with your parents and spending most of your money on a expensive vehicle does not sound super smart unless you plan to live with them longterm.
if your household income with your wife is high could make it easier but I think most wives would be annoyed if most of the money they make is to pay for normal stuff and the dude is blowing it all on his car lol.
I absolutely love the TLX type s and am thinking of buying but price is quite a bit but a lot interest rates are insane.
But car prices are just high now most SUVS in Canada are basically getting close to 50,000 like the Honda CRV which is crazy

This is a huge difference and make's Tony's original $250k CAD a much more reasonable number.
#796
Taxes are just over 50% for salary greater than $220k CAD (about $160k USD) and just over 40% for salary greater than $100k CAD (about $75k USD).
The median salary in Canada is about $55k CAD and the average salary is about $65k CAD, both of which has just under a 30% tax rate.

Rest in Peace the best car of the century. The sales numbers and customer feedback were so good that Kia couldn't keep up with the demand, so decided to put their best selling car in rest. They did not want to offend all the enthusiast But good news, PMC is too expensive, go get one of the 1,000 special units that will be build for the true, true enthusiast!
