Not bad, thanks!

The rear kit looks like a bolt-on again. The front looks alright. Wonder what it looks like in white?

Well....I am not digging the rear either.

Okay guys and gals.... Just an alert that I have new pictures!!!! Let's just say that I just spent some time with the TLX. I will post them in about 15 minutes when I get home.

^^ Hurry your ass home!
...and why couldn't they make a nice kit? I mean the one on the ILX is 10X better than this

So yeah...
I found out that there was a Ben Fold's concert downtown (sponsored by Acura) so I decided to drive down, park at my office and walk on over... lo and behold, TLX on public display
My thoughts...
Did it look much different in person versus all of the photos we've seen? Not at all.
Is it a nice car? Sure... Is it anything special or spectacular?... EH. Unfortunately it just does not look like a 2015 car. It also does not look expensive and the lines are not as prominent as I thought they would be (the lighting in the pictures makes the lines look sharper). In fact it looks like a slightly larger ILX with jewel eye headlights. (With rumors that the ILX will be getting jewel eyes by 2016, they will look pretty much the same.)
It however does look a lot trimmer and shorter and lower than the current TL.
I do have to say... for this to be the car that's supposed to put Acura back on the map, they should have done a lot better... I'm not quite sure why anyone would buy it over an Accord touring.
I'll still test drive the car but I'm about 96.39% sure that I will be leaving the Acura family. If I end up getting a TLX I'll gladly eat parmesan crusted crow.

Thanks for the pics! Was it a working car? Did you get a chance to sit inside? It looks better in those shots. The proportions are easier to discern. I think the problem is that it is following the 4G which turned out to be a bold attempt in comparison to the 5G. It's been said a number of times before so I apologize for repeating this, but this should have been the 3G successor, a more natural evolution. That being said, it looks like styling that might wind up growing on me.

Thanks so much, randomRon! It does not look bad, but the problem is, that is just not good enough, Acura!!!
The rivals are way too strong for Acura to release something that is just not drop dead gorgeous. OK, I should still wait until I test-drive it. Perhaps it does drive like a dream... (not holding my breath at this point though!)
I am not sure why Acura keeps on using this blue colour for major public displays - the silver is so much better!!!

Yeah, I'm getting the feeling I need to go another direction with my next car purchase, but Acura will always hold a place in my heart. Have been driving one since my 2001 CL.

Cadillac's been giving out pretty big incentives on the new CTS and ATS throughout the year. Several people have been claiming $5000-$10000 off deals when you factor in incentives, negotiating, etc. I just priced an almost-fully loaded, top of the line ATS 2.0T for around $46,000 on TrueCar. If you believe their charts, people are getting them for around $45,000. With the 2015's coming, I'm guessing the deals are only going to get better or at least stay the same.
http://www.autoblog.com/2014/06/20/c...st-slow-sales/
Sales of the ATS have tanked since the initial excitement.
ATS 2013 Jan - May sales : 2781, 3382, 3587, 2735, 3249
ATS 2014 Jan - May sales : 1909, 2427, 2982, 2737, 2497
And the CTS and ATS are getting sold right now with massive incentives/discounts to keep the figures even that high.
Can you please share the context of your 38% number? I'd like to look that one up myself. If they're giving away their cars with massive incentives, it's a lot different than actual demand for the vehicles.

I agree Ostrich. This color on the TLX does not impress me. And I'm still not down with the wheels Acura has chosen for the TLX. These look better than the 4 cylinder base wheels but not much better. Silver or white would showcase this car so much better than the blue.

not a car that should have come out in 2009... The styling is outdated. In 2009 this styling would have been fantastic. In 2015 it does not compete.
#673
The TLX does show evolved progression from the 3rd Gen however that evolution seems a tad lackluster in contrary to todays aggressive design. Many blogs mentioned Acura has not taken the initiative to "listen" but rather act on their own and wishing that the new "green" design will attract a different audience. My 07 is aging and the TLX allure factor just isn't quite there. For the price value I can get a c-350. Shurgs.

If I were a 2012 TL owner I wouldn't be interested in the TLX either. There is no reason to dump a 2 year old car for this. But for the majority of new car buyers this car will look pretty nice. As a 1G TSX owner it is certainly an upgrade. Of course I haven't found much these last few years that warrants my money. As to whether the TLX competes... that will only be decided by the buyers and the market... how well the car drives, the price, and the perceived value. At the right price I think this car will sell well. If they over price it like the RLX it won't and the price will drop. I still like the car but I don't think I'll jump on it even if I like the driving experience.

Thanks for the pics, RandomRon. It does look nice. I still say this should have been the 4G and the current 4G TL should have been the TLX. In a way it seems Acura has went backwards, but I still like the car.

I fail to see what the RLX has to do with this discussion. I hear Oldsmobile has sold fewer cars than the RLX this year. Do not bother debating it - it is factual. Go RLX! lol.
Anyway, my point in saying the ATS has large incentives to even get the sales they're getting now is because last year, when the incentives weren't so great, they were selling more vehicles. The difference between the Caddy models and the RLX is that at one point the ATS was selling like crazy. Now they are selling much less with, at times, huge incentives. The RLX, on the other hand, has never been a huge seller. This goes back to my original statement, "Cadillac had a global plan, too, but all of a sudden they're finding it difficult to sell cars after starting out hot with the ATS. GM's ignition issues sure as heck aren't helping." I'm unsure if it's just the ignition issues or something more as a whole that's causing that problem.
I also stated it as Caddy being a more bang-for-the-buck car than the TLX possibly may be when it's released. In other words, they've been dealing like crazy on the ATS (and CTS).
Obviously they seem to be incorrect if they're talking about the ATS as I've shown you year-to-date figures by month and the resignation of top sales executives in the company as a result. If you check out Cadillac forums, you'll see people discussing the same.

I Just typed in caddy ats year to date sales and many things came up showing that.

For the life of me I do not understand the decisions that Acura makes. Buying a luxury car is an emotional purchase and when it comes to a brand like Acura, they cannot afford to create bland designs and expect people to flock to them (the 4G and ZDX were just ahead of their time.) Sorry, but there is nothing about the TLX that turns heads. Even the interior seems like a step backwards.
