TLX in the wild... and new pics

I too was perplexed about the lack of exhaust tips in the beginning.
However, the thought did arise, how much do exhaust tips weigh?
I'm wondering if the engineers all were in a conference room with a huge whiteboard during the design phase and were asked to list ALL of the things they can save weight on.
Spare Tire
Exhaust tips
Shrink overall length and overhang
More aluminum in chassis
etc.
I'm thinking they added weight with the additional insulation to make the car quieter and to maximize weight savings the exhaust tips didnt make the cut

I would love to know who in Acura decided that not showing the exhaust was a good idea for their vehicles across the board LOL! What on earth were they thinking.... going from the quad exhaust (which I loved!) on the original 4G TL to NOT showing it at all. What a terrible decision.
Would the Acura designer/engineer please stand up and let us know who you are!? LOL

I've never owned a white car, but the color is growing on me. My wife recently ordered a new Mini in Pepper White with a black top and black interior (really not many options here) and it looks nice. The seats are black but have a grey cloth seating surface and are very very nice. I'd really like to see the Espresso interior. White/Espresso may be a nice combination.

Found a super High res Interior shot off of my local dealer webpage. They seem to have some access to the Acura Webpage photos that we can't see yet.

After owning 2 black cars in my life, I am not making the same mistake again! They look amazing when they are super clean and polished. The moment they get a bit of dirt on them they look like sh$t.
PS. At least on the black TLX they can paint the exhaust black so that it won't show so bad.

I really hope they don't. Since they eschew options, all cars would either have or not have it. I'm sure it would piss off more people than it would please. If they made it standard on Advance (for example) but with a regular moonroof for Tech and lower, that would piss off a whole different group who would be forced to buy Advance if it was something they wanted.

4G was somewhat creative and certainly a risk taken and it was still widely panned by many.

Well from this angle it could me mistaken from any number of bland Asian sedans--without the Acura logo I would be hard pressed to identify what this was. They totally abandoned any distinctive identity at the rear and even, to some extent, from the side.

IMO, all these pics just continue to reinforce that their new designs have to be seen with your own eyes to make a final call. It's the same thing with the RLX.
Certain angles look horrible, while others look sexy as hell. What is certain is that the new TLX design is not as polarizing as the 4G and much more like the 3G. Which IMO is a great thing.
I definitely agree that so far, "white" and "silver" appear to be the hit color for the TLX. I'm still not convinced that black won't work, we'll just have to wait to see it in person, AND with a nice tint on it. As it's been said before, little things can go a long way, and tint is definitely one of those. My RLX was a night and day difference once I put a nice dark tint on it. This pic of the RLX always grabs me, and is one of the very few pics that really captures how great this car looks in real-life. It was the one pic that sold me on the car without even having seen it in person...

Cars that you can identify and are distinct from each other from a block away regardless of angle (front/back/side):
Any Mercedes
Any BMW
Any Audi
Any Cadillac
Infinity/Maxima (to a somewhat lesser extent)
All of the others that come to mind (including new Acura) have some distinct identity pretty much from the front only. From the side or rear there is not much difference between new Acura, Lexus, Genesis, Optima--they all kind of blend into one.
Just my observation for what it's worth.

Shame on you Honda. I know these cars share the same chassis, but dam! I do not like the wheel choices for Acura. They are not upgraded enough.

Having owned my RLX now about a year, I would disagree wholeheartedly. My RLX is very noticeable and carries its own presence in any parking lot I'm in. On occassion I'll even get the "hey, that's a sharp looking car, what is that?" comment from someone who happens to be near me as I walk up or away from my car.
Acura's new design language is...new. The RLX nad ILX have only been out for about a year+ and will take time to be refined and matured and be noticed. The biggest problem is Acura needs to STICK with a design language. This constant "radical" change they keep doing every 3-4 years is contributing to their on going struggle to build brand recognition. It's just like a company logo, you can't get consumers to "know" your brand if you keep changing the logo...

I agree Keith. The rims are one of the things on my list of "dislikes" on the RLX. Acura really needs to step it up with more rik options, especially for their top end cars like the RLX. I love all the choices you get with BMW. They know how to do rims right.

BTW your RLX looks very nice. The one surprise is people have to ask what it is. I suppose once the look matures it will be no mistake that folks recognize its an Acura without having to see the badge. When I see a RLX on the road I have to double take because I'm not use to seeing them.

The white TLX going the "wrong way" on the oval is the Facebook duck lips voodoo point of view shot that makes you think she is really hot. What we see above is the same chick in the flesh...bit of a drop off. Acura is flooding instagram with flattering shots, but still as boring as it ever was IMHO.
