^^ WOW!! Good for you! I am envious....I wish I lived in a town where a BMW/AUDI dealership was present. Its reliability status and a min of 1.5h drive to the dealership is enough to scare me and keep my distance.

As someone posted, its not to say that Acura hasn't had its fair share of problems but I have good luck with them thus far....You only go with what you experience.

OSTRICH....Are you allowed to post porn here?!?! That white ACCENT is to drool over *lol*

Two key factors in my decision were that (a) I can see the BMW dealer across the interstate from at least six conference rooms in my building, and (b) BMW provides all maintenance for the first 48k miles.

Maybe by the time my lease is up Acura will have sorted all of this stuff out.

I suggest you pull the trigger on the S5 - that is one killer ride...(there is a pun in there somewhere)

I think most BMW's are good looking, the X1 and X3 not so much.

Good luck and congrats!

In the pics with the white TLX, are the side mirrors two-tone? Looks like the lower half is black and the rest white... or am I imagining that?

Good catch! I wonder if it's an aftermarket thing? See how the windows are tinted and the rear lights have been blacked out?

Anyway, I can imagine how sharp this white TLX is with the brown leather interior....

BACK OFF WEATHER!!! THAT WHITE TLX WITH BROWN INTERIOR IS ALL MINE!!!! LOL

Yes, the bottoms of the side mirrors are black.

Lol! After 4 white TL's in a row (and soon a 5th of an undetermined brand) my wife is always on my case about white NOT being a color! I'll have to show her this site to let her know that there are worse obsessions than mine.

PS - While the TLX looks great in white I just wish they would do something more to "sport" up the rear end some: tasteful spoiler, dual exhaust tips, etc... It's just too bland looking compared to my 4g Tech.

Well, it does wear white well, but that silver grill is just horrific. Looks like it sits quite a bit lower than the 4G

In other news.....

In unrelated news...

I just parked beside an RLX Sport Hybrid... sh-awd, at a shopping center. It has a sticker on the dash that says "prototype unit." Anyway... thought I'd share.

This is what bugs me... Why would Acura have a different version of a vehicle and make it look practically identical to its base model? Why would someone want to purchase a 60k/70k+ vehicle that looks exactly like its base 48k version? Is it so difficult to differentiate it a little?... a different grille, a tweak to the tail lights, other minor changes to set it apart... Why is Acura refusing to go back to the Type S? This should be a Type S vehicle. Who's going to buy this?

The same thing can be said for the TLX... I'm not going to want to purchase a 50k SH-AWD Advance that looks exactly like a 32k or whatever base model. I made this mistake when I got my TL Tech SH-AWD... just my opinion, but this is one indication (out of very many others) that Acura is not being serious enough in terms of its identity as a luxury brand.

----- End Rant -----

Horrific? Really? Horrific? The grill on the 2012 TL, which it looks like you own and I assume you find attractive, is nearly identical to the TLX grill. Pretty minor differences. But one is attractive and the other is horrific? There is a lot of group think going on in this forum. Be strong, don't be susceptible to it.

I understand what you are saying here! I can sum this all up. The KIA K900 has a lot of great features, but it is a KIA and sells for $62K! And they made the front label saying KIA even BIGGER! At least Hyundai changed the name on its top end models... Yes, a TLX should not look like a bigger ILX, same for the RLX. Saw a RLX , sticker price $62K, discounted to $48K. Not selling as expected. My 2010 TL-SHAWD keeps looking better and better. Only 42K miles on it. The Side turn signals on the TLX mirrors look like the RDX ones. Compared to the TL, downgrade..

Actually I'm thinking about getting a Lexus ES hybrid - it is only $2k more and looks like the non hybrid version and that is fine with me. However if they sold the TLX hybrid for only 2K more and it didn't have a beak I bet it would outsell the regular version 5 to 1.

Right,

To be more clear with what I was saying though...

A 70k (or however much it will cost) RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD should have some differentiation from its base 48k RLX PAWS model.

A 50k, TLX SH-AWD should have some differentiation from its base 32k/34k model

(i.e. You can easily identify an Audi S4/S6/S8 from its Audi A4/A6/A8 base... so on and so forth....) Just like you were able to identify an 08 Acura TL Type S from an 08 Acura TL base model. It also gives buyers more of an incentive to purchase the higher level trim... differentiation, slightly better styling, etc. It makes the model seem "special" otherwise, there's no point in spending 10/20k more on practically the same vehicle that costs much less. Yes, there's better performance and image isn't everything, but image is certainly significant for many buyers (especially when you're spending that kind of money).

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this. One of those stupid moves by Honda. I wonder who they used for their market research

It does in person, it's much newer and much better constructed. Of course the interior is on a completely different level. Why do you ask?

I can only assume its just a fresh take on our favorite pastime of 4G bashing

I think the RLX styling is right in line with its target market and I see quite a few already here in the Bay Area. But I can't say it any better than Saturno_V said in the still-only-one-page-"what do you like about the TLX" thread:

"The company is completely directionless, no mission, no message to the public.....well actually they have one "I'm a mediocre luxury brand, I cannot really compete with the best but, hey, my cars are reliable!!""

My grill is painted, check the avatar - the silver grill SUCKS and it ruins these cars curb appeal. Thanks for your assumption!

Thanks for posting these new pics.

The lighting is kind of harsh but I like this car in several colors that I've seen including this one. I know a lot of people on AZ lament the lack of that red color from the prototype, but let's face it, how many cars in that color do you think they would have sold? Not many. As I said in a previous post, this is a very handsome grown up car with a nice big rear seat for adults. Maybe a coupe would make a nice Type-S car which I could see in bright red. But I don't see the average Acura buyers choosing that color and I think they are focused on trying to sell some sedans in good numbers. The Type-S version may come out in a year or two when they have some breathing room to work on it.

Is it just me or are there massive/excessive amounts of plastic on the doors now?

It looks like they continued that arc from the drivers doors back to the rear seat. But lets face it, most of what we're looking at is either plastic or vinyl. But this is a good shot of the rear seat... nice room back there. Way better than the IS250/350. Probably even better than the 3 series and the ATS, CLA.... This is part of what will sell this car. If they price it right, it will be a nice total package, hopefully with quiet rear dampers.

I kind of agree with you Rocket_man...The more time evolves, the more I realize that overall this TLX will appeal to more people, especially compared to the 4G that was a love or hate it design. I have come to accept that this will likely be my next car (with some accessories) UNLESS the car is loaded with serious problems (such as transmission glitches, or electronic problems with the interface) and to an extent, minor irritants such as noisy reactive dampers.

I will say this though, looking at the straight on look, can't see how they'll come out with a body kit to add to the vehicle....it will be interesting to see what kind of accessories they'll come out with. Unless they do a kit "a la" TSX back in 2009, which would be amazing!

Thanks, randomRon! Isn't this the Graphic pearl colour that we already have on the 4G TL? It is a very nice colour indeed.

BTW, speaking of doors, look at that speaker (?) on the left inner door panel - it is missing on the right side! What is going on there?

Weather, the white on black TLX (OK, I cannot convince you to try the white on brown combo!) will be waiting for you......

Hmm, maybe you're right!... for some reason I thought that was the new black copper pearl color. I guess that will have more of a brown tint. I've seen pictures of a brownish color, but thought it just looked differently in certain lighting.

I really wish I could find a pic of the espresso brown interior.
