Stock 2005 TL with nav...what is the widest tire I can fit without rubbing anywhere? Right now I am driving on Goodyear Eagle GT's: 255/40-18 and they feel great. I definitely do not trust tire stores because many told me not to do 255's, and they could not have been more wrong. I am not too concerned about handling, pretty much just want the fattest tires I can possibly fit on the car without hindering clearances. Wheels are as follows:

Wheel Make/Model: Enkei AKP
Wheel Size (**X**): 18x8
Wheel Offset (+**): 40

THANKS!

19x8 40 offset front and 19x9.5 40 offset rear
20x9 all the way around 38 offset

Hey man. Lookin for new wheels, based on the guy who has a milder setup in the link below, you think the spokes will clear the brembos?

Transmission (Manual or Auto): 6mt
Year/Trim (04-07, Base or Type S):04
Wheel Make/Model: Work Emotion XT7
Wheel Size (**X**): 18x9.5
Wheel Offset (+**): 30
If lowered (amount): 0 finger wheel gap rear 1 finger front

fitment gurus I need your help. Which spacers should I get to get the best fitment (no rubbing) for my new setup? I'm going to run 18x8 +40 wrapped with 235/45/18 for the front and 18x9 +40 wrapped with 255/35/18 for the rear. It will be lowered probably with a one finger gap front and rear. Thanks in advance.

Offset: 35 front and rear
Not lowered no plans to lower
Tire Make/Model: Continental ExtremeContact DWS
Size Front: 235/40-18 or 245/40-18
Size Rear: 265/35-18 or 255/40-18
no mods required, rear would require rolling for anything wider than 245/40-18
if you go up to 255 you have to do 255/35-18 and same goes for 265/35-18

the fronts clear the brembos, the rear will be plenty flush, just remember 18" with a lip look small

yeah ur good cuz the front tires are 225, if you rub on dips take out the dremel and look for a tiny piece on the front fender that'll have some tire residue trim it rubbing solved

honestly I would not run anything over a 245/40-18 on a x8 wheel, will not have any suggestions that will hinder performance as I am a performance junky and cant comment on it

it all depends how wide you want to go, certainly 19x8.5 +30 will always clear the brembos where +38 may hit the brakes

Stillhere....Thanks for the help. I found this old thread with the same wheels and specs, Ace Strada 19x8.5 38 offset:

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/closed-fs-ace-strada-wheels-393336/

From that thread the OP said that it cleared his 08 type S with brembo. Could you please double check? Would I still need that 5mm space? Thanks!

Stiihere,
Sorry about so many posts but apparently I am not allowed to edit my posts. I just wanted to be clear on your recommendation. In regards to the rear fitment: The XXR502 wheel in 18x9.5, +35 offset, if I use a 245/40-18 tire I will not need to roll rear quarters. However, if I go to a 255/40-18 or a 265/35-18 I will have to roll the quarters, is this correct?

Maybe it would be better to go with 18x8.5 all the way around, instead of the staggered fitment, and use a 245/40-18 tire. Car is a Type-S not lowered and will not be lowered.

With some slightly stretched tires like a 265 or maybe even a 255/35, think I'll encounter any issues as far as hitting the coilover in the back or wheel well? Also caliper clearance issues?

Alright so I seem to like a few rims here haha I am looking for opinions just sharing... I like to hear input... I really like number 6 and I would go with them hands down.... BUT! They only make them in 20" PLUS! =( I don’t want dubs on my TL... 19" is my max!

Thoughts?

PS I used a photo I googled for the side shot... Not sure if this is a members car! But if it is I hope you dont mind!

Anyone have PERSONAL experience with 18x9.5 wheels with 235 or 245/40/18 tires? The offset is 48mm and I can do spacers, but I don't want to have to modify the fenders. I'm on stock suspension, but may do A spec in the future. From what I've found the 235s will work no problem, but can I do 245s, and what offset to not have to modify the fenders?

I can't say specifically with the GT7s, but worst case is you need to buy apscers, which i would recommend anyway. The Acura A spec wheels are basically what you're looking at and people run 15-20 mm spacers up front with no problems.

Would like to know if I'll need to roll fenders. If so, both front and back or just one? Also, why does ride height cause rubbing. Doesn't the suspension use any available travel while driving? Or is it just inclines that cause the rubbing?

I'm worried about these specs but I'm not interested in any other rims. Here is a pic of another aziner's setup:

What's the smallest size rim I can run while still clearing 6 speed brembos? Reason I'm asking is because I want to buy a pair of lightweight rims to put a drag radials/slicks on for the track.

It's OK but might look a little odd because the rear will be stretched. Maybe run 245/40 or 255/35 in the rear.

Tires: 225/65/17

thanks- i'm kind of worried about the 9" wide in front... and the +18 offset...
Are you sure about that tire size?

yes, they are Falken HS439 (eurowinter model) -mainly All season- I live in MinneSNOWta, where there are 5 months of winter. Taller tires = easier to get through snow. This is the wifes car and she doesn't need a lot of performance, so the sidewalls are not an issue... just fitting them in, and the offset sounds like my biggest concern (still reading up on it)
thanks aaron

Have you run those tires on the TL before? I think you'll have some rubbing problems with the combination of offset and sidewall.

The tires are fine- it's the new rims I was going to get that was the issue- it's not an issue now, the offset is too much!

I guess I'm going to get 17x7's with a normal (40/45) offset. Thanks for all the help.

OK, sorry I couldn't give you a better answer, but with the low offset, extra width, and tall sidewall I'm not sure what problems you would have, but I'm guessing there would be problems.
