Exactly. My problem too, nothing of much interest here, at least, not to my eyes. He's a landscape photographer in some of the best spots of NC so he's got a state-sized playground. If I lived there I'd have lots more to share as well.

J was talking to me about that a long time ago. you can tell because he uses only a handful of spots for his car pics, which I do too. the three of us live in the flatlands and that's the worst for backdrops.
you're flower/waterfall pictures were on point though...vaca shots?

Yeah I was visiting my brother in NC and was stuck there because my dad had a job he had to finish before being able to leave, so the 6 weeks I was there I went with Dave (the guy I linked you) and my brother's dad's girlfriend on a workshop around the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was an all day thing and really fun.
Like every time I modded the car I'd go up there and take pics for everyone, if I lived there of course.
Need more stuff in FL. All there are is buildings and crap to look at.

I always shoot my car if I go somewhere new...
Was going to ask about the ISO 200 vs higher, thanks for sharing!
What I noticed is that I always try and overexpose my shots a little, since it's easier to darken up a bit than to try and lighten. Although the shots with the DSLR, I have admit, lighten up remarkably well.
Sean, did you notice the angle I've been using lately?!?! Hip height, like you said.

I started with a Nikon D60 and got a D3100 because I wanted HD video recording.
Both Nikon and Canon have good entry level cameras.

Gotta pay to play
Don't get a DSLR to just take pics of your car a few other things. Stick with a P&S.
I started (and still have) a Canon XS. They don't make it anymore but I'm sure Amazon would carry it, I got mine on Walmart.com. The entry level for Canon now is the Canon T3.

Shit dude the entry level shoots HD video.

I got a Canon 30D that took all those shots...$380 shipped with all the addons...from a forum member...I love it, as it's a good entry level, but does have a smaller display and doesn't rotate the image to view it...I'd likely go for a 3100 or D90 Nikon on my next go, which is why I'm holding off on getting lenses.
For now, this one definitely suits me.

D3100 or T2i.
I'd find a used T2i, or if you want a big boys camera look for a used D90.

anil, just start with a nikon. you'll be mad if you start building up your 'kit' and you can't switch later on because of what you invested. if you don't ever plan to end up like, say me/tyler/john, go ahead and go canon. they have much more options for a lower pricing point.
a D-series sensor is all you'll need, that's ~13 megapixels.
A nikon d60 is a great camera. the D90 however, has video (its good, but not that great) and many other features and most consider it to be far superior to the d60.
I have a d90, and I'm pretty sure that's what john shoots with too.
I want this...Fx series (full frame sensor, the same as a film camera ~36 mp)
except its $3k.

^^^WOW, gorgeous!
TLdude...I've definitely considered it, but sometimes I feel like it messes up the flow. The other reason I don't pull the trigger on that is that I have the trunk spoiler...and I sometimes take it off, but usually put it back on...and when it's on, I don't like that on with the roof spoiler too.
Plus, of course the one I LOVE is the friggin Sarona V1 (I think) and they're pricey.
D90...NICE...I have to say that the majority of you amazing shooters, shoot with Nikon and I've seen a lot of untouched Nikon pictures that capture what my eye sees. I love it. One day I'll upgrade to that, that said, I have zero problems shooting with my Canon for now...especially at the price I paid.

don't get me wrong, they both have their benefits. but nikon's have features that make shooting SOOOOOO much easier...like the aperture button so you can see what your photo will turn out like, etc.
J, in your case, don't get any lenses, and just keep your eye out for a body and lens package

From what I've seen Nikons seem to take very crisp pictures. Very little blur and not very soft. They always look great. Could just be the baller lenses Dave was using though...with his $3k camera body and $2k lenses....
