Here's an idea. Buy all ATLP stuff like I did so you don't have to worry about swapping parts all of the time

Dude...now that I've experienced it, I can't live without it every week, him and Lord Sear are the absolute BEST to listen to.
FK, RUJelly, just realized you have EXACTLY the setup I've been thinking about getting...I am torn, get rid of the jpipe for another to get rid of rasp, or get the resonated XLR8 quad with a type s lip (my lip is damaged anyway). Do you have any vids of yours?

don't make me wake these two sleepy azz mofo's to defend me!!
sooo...for sh*ts and giggles went out and recorded a drive around the neighborhood, on one hand, the slight raspiness annoys me, on the other, I love how it sounds and how aggressive it feels. Who knows...

Jeremy....love the updates....
i would highly advice you to redo the wrapping....it doesnt look good....i would buy some lava wrap and redo it....
other than that, skid pad is a great idea....but keep an eye on it, since its too small and NOT welded on, it might pop off when hit by a bump....

Can't tell if that's sarcasm, but you know we shoot for a 50/50 percent on topic in here...

Thanks Anil, yeah, the clamps would be my failure point, I'd thought about how to beef that up. To be honest, I haven't really hit anywhere that drags VERY badly...just mildly...so hopefully it'll get the job done. About the wrap, I was fooling myself...it didn't kill the rasp much at all, what it may have done was warm up the flex pipe faster to make any vibrations less obvious...

will post pix of how i wrapped so you can see it for reference

You sir, are not lying! Funny enough, last night, was driving to my friend's house and showing my fiancee about the rasp...I thought for sure she'd say it sounded like azz...she was like, it's only for a second and it doesn't sound that bad ...lol. I'll figure something out.
I'm getting close to hitting it though! Car car car!
Thanks Anil, sure...I'd love to see it. I think there are actually 2 issues...one is the rasp, obviously...and the other is the weird reverberating vibration sound that comes off the pipe. I think the exhaust wrap will help with the 2nd one...but obviously not the rasp from inside (the pulses, as you described them...fighting to make their way out the engine).
J.
Yes...the exhaust will warm up quickly and remain that way....i understand about the bump....there is this one bump in my parking garage at work where it just CLIPS the exhaust a little bit....i so as SIDEWAYS as i can and very freaking slow....but the wrap should have killed the rasp a little bit....i would wrap that flex pipe on the jpipe as well....

^^^ LOL rasp comes from exhaust pulses having more room to move about it....good thing is your exhaust is free flowing (the jpipe and procats)....if you absolutely cannot deal with the rasp/drone, then brother 2 options for ya either put the stock jpipe back on, or get a venturi tube welded on the jpipe.....

a bung for what?! tp for my bung hole?!/
i'd have to plug that anyway, no?! Since we have no O2's that far down the line...
Anil, Venturi, huh...hmmm...well, riding last night, my fiancee nearly convinced me that the rasp was normal and didn't sound ricey...it's funny how fickle I am.

agreed, the aggressive sound you want is srsly only 5% different than 'raspy and ricey'....it does have that twang like my s4 did on open downpipe (other than turbos, straight pipes) and baffle mufflers cleared it up SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much.

yeah, well, remember 2 months ago, I removed the jpipe was all ready to sell it etc...I did like that it removed the rasp but MAN, first thought was FKKKK...was my car REALLY this quiet before with just the stage III!?!? lol...I missed the grumble and mean aggressive sound.
I have to sleep on it, I'm still kinda contemplating getting an exhaust, in which case I'd opt for a resonated one anyway...we'll see...i wish there were more base exhaust tip options...who knows.
I bought and got refunded a ATLP V1 jpipe last night...not realizing that it actually sits LOWER than the V3 Jpipe...I think I learned my lesson, don't look to another product to get rid of the rasp, either embrace it or work with what I got. Plus, my Dad rode with me last week and he said the same thing...I think I'm so focused on the rasp that I'm making myself crazy...everyone else hears it says the car sounds amazing.

but in all honesty, i like a loud exhaust....a little more aggressive with a rumble kinda exhaust....but ofcourse am biased....
yeah you can just put a bolt in (there is one right now IIRC) and one little tack on it is fine.

and about the exhaust, i think you are hearing drone thro the cabin....outside i might be sounding nice but since you hear the drone you might be a little against it....try to see if you can take a video from the outside as in a drive off or a drive by or hook your cam up outside somehow....this will give you an idea how to exhaust sounds like from outside....

^anil, i unplugged the ECU the day i dyno'd afterwards.

i wish someone on this forum knew him personally and could check in to see if everythings okay.

^^^Yeah, I may end up getting that suction cup holder for the contour, get some rolling shots of my rims too...would be cool.
I know you think I don't know the difference, but it's really the rasp that bugs me, the drone, I honestly kinda like it. It's soothing and nonexistent on long trips. Did you watch the newest youtube I put up last night?!? The rasp that bugs me is at about the last 2:39 minutes...
then again...I must be nuts, in a 4 minute video there is 1 second of annoyance...normal cruising sounds sects...and then WOT sounds mean as fk....what am I bishin about?!?! The more I think about it, the more I am thinking of just getting the longer resonator to eliminate all that extra turbulence I've created with the reducer collars and sh*tty welds and call it a day.

I'm a HUGE fan of baffle mufflers, and no resonators. with my TL, I used what I had. I only spent $100 bucks on my exhuast just so I could hear it while driving and listening to music.
but yeah. that's no cats, not resonators, just those two mufflers. maybe you should consider getting rid of the stock mufflers out back.

@Aaron: you should check this thread and see who his friends are LOL....track him down
@Jer: Ohh i know you know the difference buddy....what i was implying is a louder drone can be mistaken for rasp....but i saw the video and there is probably 1% (4 sec) of the video where there is rasp and I think you are anal (as a complement) about things and hence you dont like the little bit of rasp....i think if you fix those welds you should be good to go !!!
@ Sean: that sounds just SICK !!!!
