the skunk 2's actually give you more clearance, though...so you may need to cut a bigger opening to accomodate the entire END of upper control arm!

I actually ended up maxing the rear today, the front is low enough now that it looks slightly raked but also there's no gap to compare to and make the car look like the front isn't low enough, I'm getting my alignment next week, so figured it'd be a good time to think about where I want the height to end up and call it a day!

Also, went to Aerojet Everglades facility on Monday morning with my Dad, and a few close friends. It was a place from the 1960's they used to build a jet for NASA. NASA gave the contract to someone else so they closed their doors, and welded everything shut for the last 43 years.

Probably about 15 mile ride, total on the bicycle. If you don't know what it is...here:

Oddly enough, still about 24"...
Didn't change much but you can definitely tell it looks lower. It really is a sickness...it's never low enough. I am glad I'm maxed...I think the sickness would take me to undriveable territory.

Yes, be glad you can't go any lower...there's a thin line between what's driveable and what's an annoyance, and I'm teetering on the edge.

Yeah man...if you could drive your car there, I bet I wouldn't have been able to shoot cans with my Dad though...!!!

Plus, to be honest, some of the shots were from buildings that were no more than 4 miles away from where I parked. Can't lie though, was a LITTLE nervous leaving my car there!

Yeah, John...you really are on the verge, I'm picturing your 23" inches to ground and man...that's low! I am good where I'm at...it's still driveable and looks cool...ESPECIALLY rolling, I wish I was a fly and got to just fly next to my car seeing it rolling, I could stare at that all day.

Anil, brought out the big guns for this one! Took my Canon 30D that I bought from Deltaboxxx last year. Took some great shots, I probably need to think about a lense or 2.

Fisheye isn't all that great, and for some reason I hate fisheye pics of a car, it just doesn't do right. Plus if you want a DSLR with a fisheye, good luck on finding one that will do auto, all the ones I've found are all manual, meaning you have to focus it, and set the shutter speed and aperture. Once again, good luck if you're new to DSLR.

My other lens is a wide angle 10-22 and the 18-55 kit lens.

^^^ yeah i started off in Auto....saw the shutter speed, ISO and then started messing with the settings....

some pix came out completely dark or tooo blurry (too fast or too slow shutter) and slowly started to get a hang of it....

but i guess with you/john/tyler/sean with the big boy cams, I will get to learn a lot

am actually looking into a D3100....seems like a good "entry level" DSLR

get a telephoto for sure. they are much more versatile than an 18-55 imo. if you want a low focal length, get a wideangle.

and anil, wide angle's and fisheye's are COMPLETELY different.

Wow, gorgeous...yeah, Wideangle is what I want! I agree, I used to think Fisheye was cool...but any time I see the reflection of my car on a car with any concavity to it, I hate how it looks...it's kinda fisheye-y.

If you guys have it, try aperture priority mode. It'll allow you to dial in how the final image looks without wasting time.

but generally, go in this order.

ISO and color balance, aperture for the composition, then shutter for exposure.

I'm happy I got my wide-angle, it has slight distortion at 10mm but not horrible, I like it loads better than the fisheye.

The only thing I need now is a very quick lens. Canon makes a 50mm lens with f/1.8, the pro I went with told me that's what I needed and I'd be pretty much set.

With those lenses I can cover a lot of different subjects.

PS: Haven't clicked on that link yet Sean but I keep my ISO on the LOWEST setting possible. Lower ISO means LESS noise.

ehhh. be careful with too low. all your highlights will be blown out and just basically fade together.

example of using ISO 200 or lower. (these are ones I never planned to share, but they serve a purpose now)

and these were 1/1000 1/2000 shutter speeds! no baseline EV correction either. was shooting for a -.3 overall to get a nice green color.


edit: I'm just trying to say yeah you can get really creamy smooth shots, but you also have less color definition on your lines.

this is another one, exact same settings. still even without the massive light input, its just plain fuzzy and not sharp.

That's why I edit. My camera doesn't give good color at all, all my shots look blah and not very colorful. I edit most of mine to be what your eyes would see. A true color

that's what I think too. it'll always be soft, all around in every aspect you could use said adjective, and pro shoots are always so much more crisp. You can really tell that all the 'most shared' and 'loved' photos are at least 50% editing

Yeah most of the time straight from the camera shots are very dull and soft. Most need editing to some extent. Some other people over edit and it turns out horrible. Speaking of pro, check the pro guy I've went on a few workshops with.
