Just realized I have a Fleet Services mechanic at my job...he works on the FPL big bucket trucks, I bet that guy has a serious 1" impact gun. I'm going to ask him...either way, need to see if there's a big piece of metal to use as a breaker bar if he says no.

Nice! Now go tell Anil about this extra weight saved in the xlr8 revision so he can properly inflate his tires.

OOO-nice Jeremy! I've long debated about this mod...I'm jealous.
#3212
it's funny...when you FIRST read about it, you're like...screw that, I'll pay 100 bucks for it and no more...but when you start digging and see how scarce it it...and how UR isn't making them anymore etc...and the knock off brand costs nearly 200, you start realizing either you pull the trigger and go for it, or just forget about it.
Thanks though...took a while to decide on it, but from all the raving reviews on how the car feels upon acceleration etc...was hard to turn it down. I'll post up a review once I get it on.
J.

Thanks fellas, I'm looking forward to it!!!
Going to see about the dude at work, see if he'd be willing to hit it with a monster gun to loosen it up for me this week. If he would do it, I might just bring the whole thing here and just swap it out.

I was reading up online and seems like my scale and my head were trippin....to a point, i thought let me take the tire pressure down to 30
I need to go to a place with some precision scales and get my setup measured without any air and with 36psi....
yeah i know that joke will be around for a while and i can be a sport about it....get to learn something new errday...
You should do it Steven...if i end up deleting my AC (if i dont use it for Summer/Winter) will give you my pulley and will end up going with the Underdrive pulley....
Jer....cant wait for the install....i bet you gonna love this mod....when is the install ? weekend ?
#3221
Hopefully...actually talked to my mechanic guy at work...he's got a personal 3/4" gun he said he'd let me use...he says not allowed to work on personal cars here but he's like...well, maybe I can just loosen it up for you and then retighten and you can fix at home...OR, i'll just bring my jack, and pulley in and see about doing it right here at work right quick or see if he'll loan me a huge pipe and breaker bar...either way, I'm hoping to get this done ASAP.
It's funny, the instructions actually state to wait 5 to 7 days to notice the increase in hp...says it takes a while for the engine to adjust to what you've done.

^^^ lol just reset the ECU and you should be fine....i usually reset the ECU after any performance mod that I do....make sure to keep the navi/radio codes handy and follow the idle relearn process....
and yeah i would just ask him break it loose and you can do it at home either way once the bolt is broken loose, its a 5 minute job....as your rim is already off....

exactly, that's why I'm thinking if the guy is going to break it loose for me anyway, I might as well knock it out right there...he was kinda telling me that he's not going to be there all weekend if I wanted to give it a go. But my job has camera's and I wouldn't risk any trouble.

Thanks Anil-just let me know if you go that direction with your car.
The one thing that I've been worried about is that this pulley possibly screws up the internal balance of the engine. There's so many threads about it here on Acurazine.

Well, to be honest Steve...if I FEEL like anything is not working properly, I'll pull that bad boy out and will likely have no problem reselling it. Most of the posts that are against it are put up by the same people and although I appreciate the warning, I don't feel like our engines can have the same logic applied to them.
I hope I'm right.
Anil, yes sir, I reset ECU and do the idle relearn every time too...
J.
Some pics I had that I never posted...
my first attempt at foam gun, not bad, but didn't "stick" long enough to work it AND used a LOT of soap! Still had my old tails on...

How much is that soap gun stuff? That'd be so much faster than conventional sponge and rinse.
#3229
Meaning what?!?! It's a bad idea...wouldn't we have heard from people that things didn't feel right?!?!
I am going to throw it on...the idea that it's one of the best "feeling" mods for a 6MT is just way too tempting for me NOT to do it. Plus, if we had some catastrophic failures from it, I'm sure we'd have heard about it by now.
J.
Thanks Steven! I DO try and keep her shiny!
Austin, I would highly recommend you either stick with traditional washing and/or optimum no rinse. The foam gun is cool...but to get it right you have to use a LOT of the expensive soap and have access to an electric pressure washer and special attachment. Not worth the hassle IMO.

the second half, is for steven. in theory there would be no issue, but its not 100% for certain like how an MT car is.
just never throw on a lwfw while also keeping the pulley. can't have your cake and eat it too

I agree with Veggie....for MT its fine....
For AT some people say it causes an issue....well for as much as I care, I have been running the pulley for 60K miles and 4 years without a problem on an AT....and i am in no way easy on my car....at times the pedal is on the floor and most of the times am driving chilled....so my point being I dont see any harm in doing the STOCK sized pulley....yes I am skeptical about the UD pulley when running AC/Sound system/different electricals/etc....

Whats up with RDX owners?

The engine is internally balanced. When Honda balances the crank, its done without the pulley.

So...we kinda knew this was coming, right?!!?!? Since the substrate is loose, it's not holding on to enough of the stuff coming through...lower rear bank..
What do y'allz think about this as a solution, buy 2 of these and install on the lower front and rear?

That would work (i dont know the bolt size but am talking about the concept)....
Richie's PCD's do come with an elbow defouler....if this is straight, am not sure if your 02 sensor wire will reach that long....so make sure you look for an elbow (90deg) bend defouler....

We tell him everything. Then he thinks about it for days. Then ignores our help and does the opposite.
