Hey there Austin, made a vid of the shock sensor, but the cynist in me deleted it while downloading to Youtube. I don't want to advertise to the masses what precautions I take, allz I will say is that IT WORKS LIKE A MOFO!
No, no ban...I got you a soundclip, bud!
Steven, you are awesome, thank you so much. Porn, huh...sometimes I think my fiancee would be more understanding to my AZ addiction and wishes I was actually rubbing one out to some porn instead.
FK FK FK! I woulda jumped on that in a heartbeat! I'm DEFINITELY sold on doing that install! Thanks for looking out, brother...I'm sure we'll spot a deal soon.
Thank you Tyler...I noticed you fkers aren't on the chatroom this weekend...hit it up tomorrow at work?!?!
I had seen the fkd up texts, but never the dog one. That's awesome! Thanks for sharing...

OK, so About the high flow cats...sounds awesome...no more rasp than before with just the V3 jpipe, although when I blip it around 4500 RPMs when they are dropping it does sound kinda . I'm actually thinking of getting a second dynomax (since, of all the resonator's, that one has the least amount of rasp and supposedly the total length of resonator is what affects the ability to drown out rasp). Plus, my friend's welds on the first one were pretty bad, I'd like to have the whole thing cut out and rewelded properly.
As far as acceleration, loose substrate in or not...you definitely feel the acceleration. No CEL's as of yet, so hoping it stays that way. Other than the smell of the antiseize burning off the O2 sensor threading, I don't even have extra smell.
I'm super happy and on the way down to Miami last night, my fiancee (and trust me, she hates to compliment the car) said ...wow, I can definitely tell the difference..."I don't know what the difference is, but when you give it gas I can tell the car just takes off with no hesitation". SWEET! I said, yep, that's what it's supposed to do!
And ironically, normally when I fill up, the needles moves from empty at 15 miles...today, it didn't move till 26 miles and that was with me revving and driving a little more aggressively than I have been. Hmmm...we'll see...maybe the claim that the e-shift procats give you 10-15% better mpg is true? We shall see!
Here, had to grind down the side of the bolts to get them to squeeze by...ended up with zinc coated bolts, and added a lock washer...size M8 and grade 8.8.
and for you weight guys out there...
OH...and random, revisited my baby UCM last week...the paint had flaked off so I sanded it down, wiped with IPA, then sprayed with plastidip. SO far so good...
and the vid, y'alls have been waiting for courtesy of my contour gps on my headband mount.

Steven, you have no idea...
Thanks for the new update...will likely take a small break for a bit. But I can never sit still...always thinking of things to improve or fix or clean or whatever.
Check out my day yesterday...I started Friday by removing what I could to make install go more smoothly.
615-1230pm catalytic install (popped out of bed because my brain was already doing the install while I tried to fall back asleep).
1230-130pm shock sensor add on to the oem alarm install...figured since car was already on the jack, why not.
130-345pm trim and bundle this massive bougainvillea tree in the back that I'd forgotten about and got massive.
345-5pm my AC stopped working on the house...had to open up the compressor and found that the contactor had gone bad...(fixed that today...$50 for the part, installed myself)
Then, head down to Miami for my cousins bday party...
Needless to day, I was beat...went to bed at 1am...and slept like a baby.
J.

Hawt Contour vid! What is the viewing angle on it....170 degrees like the GoPro?
#3097
Thanks John...no, I think it's 135 degrees...it's definitely less...but they put more focus on the sound and hiding outside sounds etc.
Sean...I did waste the beer on that, but don't worry I drank it first and then peed onto the grills...
SLPR...don't you worry! I wanted people to get to hear how it sounds under normal driving AND WOT from the stop sign...plus, you see how quick I cut vid...didn't want to OVERDOCUMENT my speeding in residential area (although no people/houses down that block).

The exhaust sounds good bro....has a little "gargle" to it but no rasp....
how is the power difference ? and i told you the precat wont come out from below LOL....
also just a :2cent: on exhaust video, when taking the video from inside the car, DO NOT hit vtec, coz all we can hear is the engine roar.....when outside do HIT vtec....
other than that a professional install !!!

Thank you, brother...I gotcha...just figured I'd do a point of view type of vid where you hear/see what I'm actually hearing and seeing...but I get you. There's SOME rasp, not too bad...but I'm seriously thinking of adding a 2nd resonator to ensure NO rasp, even when cold (that's when it seems to be a bit more prevalent).

^^^ as i mentioned in the PM, i would consider replacing the existing resonator with a longer one, rather than adding another resonator....you dont want your downpipe to be filled with resonators...

^^^ and if you wanna show your exhaust in vid, why should hit vtec if the engine overpowers the exhaust ???.....i would love to see a video of the exhaust with spirited driving and not aggressive driving.....
but again thats just me.....
and you in the chatroom sean ?

what chatroom!?!?
its posa be ninja status!
Yeah, I gotcha...but honestly, I wasn't trying to post up what my exhaust sounded like in particular...was really going for what the video shows...MY perception on what you hear when you drive my car with the mods mentioned. When I get the suction cup attachement...I'll hook you guys up with a video from the rear of the car, although i have a feeling it'll sound shi*ty!
About the resonators...I don't know...I've heard for myself that the magnaflow resonator with just a simple stage IV...can add rasp...and that's the super long resonator that richie recommends that I've confirmed via another member does NOT remove rasp. So since the dynomax one DOES remove rasp, I figured having 2 of them would help best. I'll look into it, if I can find a dynomax that's 30 inches long, I'll probably go with your recommendation. I've read that what matters is total resonator length when combined, meaning it doesn't hurt to have 3 x 10" ones rather than 1 x 30" one.
Make sense?

^^^ holy cow 30" long resonator ?
IMO that is way toooo long....i was thinking around the 24" one....another thing to consider is the diameter....
so the volume of a cylinder is Pi(r^2)h
Pi = 3.142
R = Radius is 4" (assuming you have a 4" round resonator)
H = Height or Length is 20" (assuming you have a 20" long resonator)....this length is only the body of the resonator and does not include the inlet and outlet ports....
so the volume is 1005.44
you are looking to go to 30" long resonator....so the volume will be:
1508.16
if you look at a 5" round resonator which is 20" long....volume will be:
1571....
so i would suggest you go with a 5" round 18" long resonator (volume of 1431)....

glad you got them installed, J. i would go for a 6" round and 18-24" resonator to kill the rasp.

^^^ how it kills the power is you are putting a 4" section of pipe for 20+ inches....if for no resonator, you would have a 2.25" section....so you are altering the flow of exhaust pulses and reducing backpressure also making it so large (4") that your exhaust pulses slow down dramatically.....

back pressure losses, they only affect low torque. what J wants, hell even you, 1-2 resonators will do nothing. and by nothing, I mean you would lose like 1%. you can't physically feel less than 10-15 hp.
and, I've had multiple exhuast setups, and had one that eliminated my baffle type mufflers on a whim... my car always ran the same.
those resonators you are talking about are packed, they aren't and empty pipe anil, the math isn't so simple.

^^^ not about how much you can feel....about how much you will loose....
if he is gonna loose 3-5HP by adding resonators (2 resonators totally 30+ inches, 4 or 5 inches wide) when he gained only 10-12 from the procats....i would suggest to save $$$ and time and just keep the stock cats
if you look closely at Andy's exhaust he has done the opposite....i doubt i want to reveal any of what he has told me but i will just leave it at this

Why won't you reveal what Andy has done?! Patented!?! We're all friends here...share!
I want some power and I don't want rasp! For the $120 it cost me to put these in, I would do it all over again for even minimal gains. Like you all said, the HFPC and PCD have been, so far, the biggest bang for my buck!

I think the design of a resonator is being overlooked here. A 6" round resonator doesnt have 6" of empty space inside. There is typically a baffled pipe running down the center of the chamber. That pipe looks almost like a cheese grater. Most of the exhaust gases pass straight through the resonator.

^^^ Morgi....i think both those resonators you pictures are 4" round....
the 5" or the 6" are packed (glass or some fibrous material depending on what you get)....and about the math, i picked it up from you LOL (or was it sonnick )....
even a muffler which is 4x9, is not open inside....is packed with material but you do calculate its noise dampening capacity by using the volume of a cube/cuboid formula, right ?
