Unless it's really bad, you should be able to get 99% of it out by using a blower. If the blower won't work, get some Eclipse solution and microfiber swabs/wipes.

HAND blower, not a leaf blower LOL. The infant nasal aspirators work well. Or this:

No! Compressed air cans can damage the sensor and qtips will leave strands of cotton all over the place and you'll end up with more debris on your sensor than you started with.

J, look into a cleaning pen if you want to DIY, I don't trust myself to clean my DSLR's sensor, so personally, I would take it to a camera shop and have them do it, it can't be that expensive.

Also, idk what brand you have but I'm sure it has to have an electronic sensor cleaner built in, mine does and it's an entry level Canon XS. Any time you switch lenses you should make sure it runs the sensor cleaner or manually do it. And when you swap lenses do it FAST and hold the camera upside down, no way for dust to get inside.
#2332
Ok, I preemptively just took a look and don't see anything obvious, but did choose to lightly blow some of the dust off of the lenses. Maybe it's better?!!

Hard to tell with those dark pics, you need to take a pic of something really light or completely white to see if you fixed it. And no, the dirty t shirt was for sure not good lol. Camera sensors are very delicate.
And it's not the lens that cleans itself, it's the actual camera body. The sensor we're talking about is in there. The sensor cleaner basically uses a little shock of electricity to zap the dust away. When I turn my camera on or off it says "Sensor Cleaning" for about a second and then goes away. It's also an option in the menu, so figure out if its on or not, for sure turn it on if it's not.
Hope that helps! (Also I'd try to do the camera's sensor cleaner before taking it somewhere, might save you some time/money.)

Hello All,
so for about 3 years now I've been rockin the K&N drop in filter that you must oil. Recently, Anil (Swoosh) annoyed me enough by dropping knowledge on me enough to convince me I should give an AEM dryflow filter a shot.
So, I placed an order for the DC Sports CAI, what the heck, I've got a predictable drive with no flooding to/from work, and I know well enough to drive around any crazy deep puddles. I bought paid for it for $120 shipped, nice...now, a week later, I find out it's out of stock till beginning May. I decided to cancel the order.
BUT, I had already preemptively ordered the dryflow filter from a forum member (thanks Meek!) for $25 (well, $35 really...shipping was worse than he expected so I tossed him another ten spot, I've been in that position before and it sucks to sell stuff for free). It arrived today and knowing myself, I had already decided I'd either get the cheap ebay CAI to work, or I'd make something on my own.
He didn't know the part number, but to give you an idea of which filter, here's the FS thread
https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/aem-dry-flow-filter-852474/
The other night I took at look at the oem piping, there's flex, but the inner diameter is actually consistent, the flex is to be able to move it around...AND, there are a few lines that tie into the intake, so that kinda made me NOT want to reinvent the wheel.
Plus, I had removed my intake resonator a LONG time ago. SO, TO make a short story long, I used the upper portion of my resonator where it joins the stock intake box, cut it and made it work. Since I had already removed the resonator, I avoided having to remove the bumper and worked in the wheel well. Yay...
Also, 1/2 way thru, I realized it would be nearly impossible to get the rubber to sit right without removing the battery, need to do the Idle relearn anyway, so out with the battery.
In the end, I know I'll likely get flamed for it, but this mod did a few things for me.
Ok, so remove your intake RES, if you are doing this for the first time, remove bumper. If not, you can work with your wheel off through the fender liner.
On a side note, if you do have your res out, you will probably realize that even if you were going back to stock, you would never need or use this again...you won't be putting it back in. I don't like cutting up oem things, but IF ever in a pinch, I could buy another or use some rubber and clamps to recreate it.
I overcut initially...
This made the filter hit the bumper
Ok, NOW, the diameter of the filter, and the newly cut tube were almost identical...tried some ghetto fabulous forceful entry (yeah...that) and guess what, filter actually fit inside the tube with NO air gaps...yeah, I know, I'm SLIGHTLY lowering the inner diamber, but no worse really than jamming the rubber of the filter OVER a piece of metal tubing IMO. It fit, it worked, no need to over engineer
Shortened it up, after seeing clearance issues
here's the filter jammed in (although this was the first rough cut, when I shorted I cleaned it up to ensure no leaking air)
Ok, and here's what people will want...
LONG SIDE
SHORT SIDE
Side shot
and here she from the inside the oem box
and sitting in place in the fender. you can see here, plenty of room, and not near the floor
ok, now the rubber is intended to just be jammed onto the bottom of the airbox...but honestly, with the added weight of the filter and lack of resonator bolted in place to hold it up, I wanted the piece of mind of knowing I wasn't running unfiltered air into my engine. Tried using 1 hose clamp, WAY too big...went to Walmart and the biggest one they had was a little short (literally 1/2 short). Lucky it came in multi sized pack...used the little one AND the big one together...bam, nice and tight. Nevermind the wiring, I hadn't remembered how ghetto I had started off with my wiring skills. ;( Friggin wiring for the accord fogs, the relay, and the DRL module...holy hell.
And here it is, buttoned up!
Can't tell!??! GOOD, that's what I was going for!
My impressions...EASILY an extra 100 ponies...I've driven my friend's modded Mustang GT and this car felt just like that...it felt like RWD, probably about a 10 second car.
Seriously though, ever since I've done my little baby mods to my exhaust like the J Pipe, stage III and whatnot, I've honestly always thought I should increase the intake volume a little bit. This mod did that...call me nuts, but I swear, did the 5 min idle relearn process and then took it for a spin...got down the block and ran to the next stop sign and the car just sounded more alive...before, when I'd punch it felt somewhat muffled...I'm sure it's not as good as CAI, but whatever small additional volume of air is making it's way to the motor, it definitely likes it. A little more air in, balances out with a little more exhaust out. I've had a V2 AEM intake on my RSX and I will say this...has that throaty sound, DOES make the little whistle (which I love) when you blip the throttle...and DEFINITELY makes that fart noise when the car is turned off. LOVE IT.
Anyway, cheap and easy, figured I'd share. Good luck and happy modding. I'm sure I'm not the first, but I do think I might be the first that documented for other's to follow it.
J.
OH, AND SIDEBAR TO Undying Dreams and Sean and John...bought a baby nose clearing thing this weekend and was finally able to get that dust off the sensor. Thanks for all your help. I'll post up a pic I took to check...I DO still have some dust in the viewfinder, but I can live with that.

In the end, I know I'll likely get flamed for it, but this mod did a few things for me.
- MY CAI COST ME $35 for the filter and $2 for a hose clamp
- MY CAI is still very far from the ground and any deep puddles
- MY CAI looks oem from above
- MY CAI would have to be submerged into water and the volume of air would need to entirely fill the oem filter box before making it's way to hydrolocking anything. IF I was ever in a pinch, I could stop, open my oem intake filter location, or disconnect the throttle body from the intake and go through the puddle.

Nice DIY! I'm bummed that the DC Sports CAI is back ordered. I may just suck it up and get it at a higher price from another vendor who has it in stock. I've been hearing not so good things about ultrarev anyway.
Glad you got the dust off your sensor with the snot sucker.

GP, thank you, brother...yes sir, that's exactly what it is! I actually made a DIY thread in the 3G area too...but I always copy and paste it into my build thread for timeline etc.
John, thanks man, yeah, you can get it on ebay for like $150 or so, shipped. Ultrarev was actually really awesome with their customer service via email. I figured, if I changed my mind later, I could order it in May if anything. BUT, honestly, after doing the above, I'm done...I really feel like the extra bit of CFM that is making it's way through is what the motor needed. Ever since the J pipe, might have been in my head, but I felt like the car just needed it.

^^^ ahahah I will undoubtedly take credit for that hahaha
am glad you listened and got the CAI and then listened again and got the filter deal....AEM filter for 30 bucks shipped....now thats a deal !!!
your filter is sitting wayyy up so you shouldnt worry about hydrolocking at all unless you plan to drive your car into the ocean !!!
on the other hand, great DIY !!! so the engine sounds more lively eh....and how is the throttle response ??? do you see any changes in the throttle response ?
after installing the AEM CAI, my 3rd gear was incredible....tons of power (yes i felt this) as this and the P2R spacer were the only 2 mods on my car then.....do you feel any such differences ?

I honestly DO feel a difference, I just took my 300 pound buddy and my boss who is 200 or so out to lunch and punched it in 3rd, wow...even during hot lunch the car pulled excellent. I honestly feel like the little bit more air that's going in DOES make a difference for me...
Thanks Ty, very much buddy...yeah, they're my girls. I really love them so much, I wish I'd never have to deal with losing them. Both their personalities really play such a big part in my day to day life...from leaving in the morning to how happy they are when I get home.

Certainly!
Well, being 5'2" and only 135 pounds my whole life hasn't helped!
Ummmm...I'm not getting into semantics on this one...since the 225's no scraping, no cutting, no rubbing, no nothin...the bottom peak of my jpipe might touch over super tall speed bumps...but also the reason I'll never go lower than now.

Huh?!?! I don't get it.
Hmmm...wondering if I should just scrape the whole idea!?!?
So, swapped my rear sway bar to street, from track...impressions...car feels much more relaxed and docile...turns feel nice and the car kinda leans in a little almost wraps around a 90 degree turn (if that makes sense) rather than cutting it when it's on track mode. I actually enjoy it a little more...the ONLY downside, is that the offramp, was pushing it to the limit at around 65 mph (cloverleaf) and it felt like I was losing it at a point where I normally don't feel that way when it's on track. Then again, I'm driving normally 99 percent of the time and flying off the off ramp 1 percent of the time...
Decisions decisions...
On another note, I just finally got my contour's firmware upgraded etc...installed the bluetooth chip...and got it paired with my Galaxy S...YAY...we're getting there...

beautiful car! your sig is soooo tempting me to take out the sander and do mine a sexy color
I had a quick question though, I ran through a couple of problems with my car recently due to the fact i'm lowered quite alot with out running a camber kit. I was reading this thread (not done reading yet...) and looked like you had a similar lca bushing failure. How did you end up going about this? Any help is appreciated and did i mention...
