I thought I was going to be the first Sharpied TL? Sean would have to use the Silver Sharpies

PS,
here is the ding...
I'm sure you can spot it, considering something bulky and probably 2 pounds heavy, landed on my hood from 12 feet up, not too bad.
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y232/swimex37/20120416_121123.jpg)
and here is my coworker's "fix" for me...(my friend too, actually...he's the one that just got the CBP 08 TL)...LOL

So far so good...with mixed normal city/highway drive, I'm at 26MPG when I got home today, if I can stay around there there will have been approx a 6 MPG jump in fuel savings, or 6 x 14 Gallons = 84 Miles to a tank. G'damn...that would give me almost 2.5 more days of driving to work between fillups.
![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Ok, off to cum now, thanks for the motivation.

Nice Jeremy! I've been averaging about 26mpg ever since I moved to school.

Thanks Tyler, I'm going to try and ACTUALLY get 26 on a regular basis. I could use the better gas mileage with prices as high as they are. I remember being in high school with .99 cent gas days. ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
On a lighter note, decided to tackle the hood ding...
SOOOO...stopped by walmart on the way home for a can of compressed air. I youtubed how to get a ding out by just heating and cooling the ding. Used my heat gun on high, about 30 seconds...then hit it with the compressed air upside down. Even with just the heat, I could see immediate improvement.
THEN, as with most things, it got worse before it got better. My paint, from under the clear, made this weird wrinkle tie dyed effect...I wiped it all down, and it stayed, so now I had a smaller ding, surrounded by a tie die black flower. FK...
Decided that regardless of whether or not I was going to have a pro tackle it, it'd be easier if I just cut my own hood support out of the way, so I did...what do you know, the ding was almost not pronounced enough to feel on the other side.
Ok, so was going to call it a day when I remember I have one of those MADE FOR TV ding pullers but ran out of the black hot glue that releases from the car...so was going to give it a whirl with regular glue although last time SUCKED. I also noticed I had this plastic piece, kinda like a fat crayon pointed piece of hard plastic used to knock down the metal without leaving any marks from a pointed edge...I I started holding the hood down with my chin/chest and using the plastic to kind of massage the dimple from underneath...ok, it was getting better, EUREKA! Then I decided that adding some heat from the heat gun might help, sure enough, not only did it help, but it ended up turning the paint from the tie die back to normal! SWEET MOTHER OF GOD...DOUBLE Eureka...
Kept up this method of heating while working the plastic thingy, until it was almost gone and all that remined of the ding is the small crease. Enough for me to NOW consider it a little battle scar of an 8 year old car and call it a day. A little zaino Z6 and we're good...
ORIGINAL DING

Flap cut open under hood
![](http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y232/swimex37/20120416_190844.jpg)
and the final results...on the first it's at the roof line reflection, the 2nd one is on the palm tree...the fact that it's hard to see makes me super happy!

Thank you very much fellas...
I wish I was a professional! LOL...one of the few times that I've gone at something, and continued trying other things and it actually got better, normally I'd end up with a MUCH bigger problem than the ding.
I am tempted to hit it a little more to try and get rid of the crease but I could already tell that I was pushing the limit with how hard I was pressing from underneath...last thing I want is to NOT lose the crease AND end up pressing the metal so hard to create a much larger and raised distortion. Yeah, I'm leaving it alone. I can live with that...it's a little dimple (works for Mario Lopez!). As a whole, the car still looks pretty pristine...which is what counts. I can't get so anal to not be able to live with a few little imperfections...otherwise I'd go nuts.

Nice, J, glad to see you got that fixed!
Also, this thread got a little
earlier.
About the jpipe, I did message J but having second thoughts on it. I signed a 2 year/24k mile warranty thing and also a paper saying I can't mess with the exhaust. Would the jpipe void my warranty?

That is true, if I bought your jpipe it would set me back on the rims and tires, as well the the coilovers. When it comes to modding the exhaust I want it to sound like this...
And I just realized that is Tyler's car...nice

I love the smooth sound, almost like Nissan's 350/370Z, not the fart can Honda 4-bangers lol.

Thanks Veggie, looks like I'll be holding off on that then, don't want to void my warranty. Performance mods will come in 2 years!

PCV Delete mod?!?! I don't think I even have heard of that!
Undying, yeah, hold off...although I bet when you deal with German's you'll get Nazi service advisors (right Sean?!...lol)...I'm sure it would be looked at as something you touched. When I post it up, I bet it'll sell pretty quickly.
That's not Tyler's car...he just posted it for someone. He doesn't have a type S.

Tyler, you better GTFO of here with your damn videos and texts trying to get me to join the dark side! I swear, if it were a BIT cheaper, I'd be in...but exhaust is SUCH a big expense!
Quanaman...thank you, sir!
I appreciate the compliment, man!

The only reason why I have the exhaust is because I got everything used! I got the catback for $800 from a AZ member in Charlotte. Then I got the V2 j-pipe, race pipe, and RV6 strut bar for $250 from another local member parting out.
I got VERY lucky with knowing the right people at the right time.

did you like how I maybe worded it to maybe not be serious so maybe you don't get yelled at for maybe not having a BM link?
maybe.
