Turbo Kit for Acura TL '04-'08

Your mph is pretty close but your et is way off considering there will be zero traction. Even with traction low 12's at best.....I predict 12.90-13.00's at around 115mph traps with 437whp and no traction
Edit: this is also the worst time of year to hit the track especially in fl with 100% humidity and summer heat, but it would be nice to get some seat time on the new set-up!

oh btw, im pretty positive i can break into 11s with that...the TL is a tricky car to perform with, with 6MT....but after beating on it for almost 6 years, i think ive broken it down lol ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
i haven't been to the track in a long time... i remember first time i ran the TL.... 14.3 @ 97 mph, 2.1 60' stock tires.... that was the first run ever... had CAI and no mufflers.... and ANDDDDD, all 12 exhaust valves were bent lol. ( a week prior to track, my friend mis-shifted into 2nd from 3rd lol)

430 at the wheels in a 3,400lb car will mph in the high teens. Depending on driver and tire that could be low 13s to low 12s. I was going 11.80s at only 114mph with a 1.5 60' for reference. There's no reason the TL won't go deep in the 12s if the driver can pull off a 1.8 60' or better. With a set of DRs and a good driver this is very possible. Don't forget about the massive torque increase too.

All the curb weight figures Ive read were near 3600lbs, of course this is probably the auto figure. Manual is probably closer to 3500lbs. If you consider a 3200lb c6 Z06 with 440 whp runs mid to high 11's at approx 123-124mph, then yes a 3500lb tl with traction would run high 11's low 12's and trap in the high teens with traction....may not need a 1.5 60ft (i just dont ever seeing this being possible in a tl) but a 1.7 may do it. But realisitcally with pass' current set-up on street tires, were looking a high 12 sec car with still some pretty decent mph because as im sure you know spinning the tires may actually improve trap speed in some instances. But i took a few mph off because of the heat and I just dont think you can bang gears in a tl like you can a muscle car.
You're the only person I've heard on the internet say that spinning can add mph to your traps. So many believe mph goes up with traction that this is refreshing to read.
So, I think we're at high 12s/low 13s on radials. Mid to lower 12s with tons of practice and on tire...
I can't help but think back on my first pass ever in a stock car as a 17 yr old going 16.5 and working it down to a 13.9 by learning to drive.
#1926
I agree that high 12s is very likely. I tend to think of an optimized setup such as drag radials and a bunch of practice runs. Maybe I assume too much. Taking a 400hp TL out on all seasons is going to be a practice in patience to say the least.

I agree that with most quarter mile setups (internet discussions) you should assume an optimum setup ie seat time, traction etc...unfortunately all this just seems like uncharted territiry for the TL and its owners so i guess im playing very conservative.
Well I noticed your sig and figured you would know what i meant by spinning can actually add trap speed...any drag racer on drag radials or street tires with some seat time should know this just by studying their time slips.
I agree that with drag radials mid to low 12's is a reasonable assumption with some practice with the TL.
Im right there with ya on the first pass, first fun car at 17 was a 92 lx 5.0, went from mid 15's to mid 14's just learning how to drive in a few months, good times lol
BTW, nice GN, ive always liked those cars.....when you ran your 11.80 at 114, what were you putting down then if you dont mind me asking....

Ok, I'll admit I'm not an expert on drag racing, but that seems pretty optimistic.
Around here, that's kind of the norm for our Cobra guys running around 400whp & they have the RWD advantage, so I'm just a tad amazed you think a TL can achieve similar times.
But, if it can do it, that would be quite a feat. Either way, I just hope Rodney grabs it all on camera.

Sorry if this question has been answered already, but I'm curious.
Why did a turbo for our cars not come out sooner? Now I know back than when I first join the forums, they told me it would be hard to hack the ECU. Now I'm no expert, but Pass/Banelba produced one pretty quickly (Grats to them). I'm sure someone would've forked out money if they knew it would be possible, and I've been contacted (and contacted them) local performance shops telling me that they can make a turbo for our cars for $42-4500 with a guarantee. But I dunno maybe I was misinformed. Hopefully everything works out well though, and I get my 437WHP by April

My guess would be low 300s at the wheels. I have one of the factory lightweights at barely 3,300lbs. It was factory stock from the throttlebody down with tons of boost so likely it made a ton of torque and little hp.
Tell me more about your Fox bodies. I still refer to those as the "good old days". At any given redlight or any night at the strip in the mid-late '90s I would line up against one. I probably had 500 runs against them. It was always fun because there wasn't a stock one around.
Here's an old video from 2001 two 12 second cars having fun. Him on slicks with a little A-trim and small cam. Me with the boost cranked and open exhaust on street tires. There's a little language so I guess it's NWS. This was the last year it was "stock".

I'm not sure what hp it was putting down. I've only had it dyno'd the one time and haven't been down the strip since.

Nice, 11.80's with a little more than 300whp is hookin pretty hard! I think in a previous post you stated a 1.5 60', nothing beats that feeling
![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Amazingly enough, out of the 3 foxbodies ive had, i dont think ive ever ran a GN/GNX that i can recall, even though this was thick rivalry for some time. Numerous encounters with fbodies, vettes (personally had a 6 spd c5 about 4-5 years ago), civics etc....
When I was in high school I worked for a mustang performance shop in town where we built SEVERAL stangs, mine were nothng to brag about (high school college budget lol). Fastest one being a heads, cam, intake blk/blk 92GT. Consistant mid 12sec car that was daily driven with full interior, ac, radio etc. That poor thing took a beating, finally starting burning a little oil with 160k on the clock and probably 100+ passes and countless street encounters.
I worked very closely with my buddy who built a 331 stroker for his 89 lx, with a t-trim made 647whp, sick to say the lest. Low 9sec car. That is probably the fastest car ive helped build/raced.
Nice video btw....gotta love the late night street encounters from "back in the day" lol

Right. This is why I like sleepers.
When I beat someone while I am driving a sports car, I always got a thumps-up and a happy grin from them, even when they lost to me.
But, when I beat them while I am driving a sleeper, I always get a STUNNED, confused, PO look from them. Never have I got a thumbs-up. Haha !

Very nice. That's one of the inherent disadvantages of FWD. With more power, even if you keep your 60' about the same, you're still going to have to wait longer to put the pedal down. This is why drag radials are a must. Even if you're afraid of launching it too hard and breaking stuff you will still be able to hook better from a roll instead of waiting until the top of second gear to go WOT.
Going with no traction just isn't fun. It's better to launch at WOT and hang on. My car will pull low 1.5s, even hit two 1.4s on slicks. On street tire I can nurse it to a high 1.7 on a very good day but I'm still backpedaling to the 1/8 mile. It's fun yet frustrating at the same time. I'm lucky to see mid 11s on street tire for a comparison and I've been known to run some 13 second passes out of frustration.

I had some questions about the kit. What size is the turbo and what A/R housing does it use? Does the turbo use an internal or external wastegate? I ran an external on my Eclipse gsx..and it was loud as hell!

I have tried emailing a few people here to get some information but no luck so far. I have an '05 TL 6MT that I've offered as a test car to try things others aren't willing to because of breaking parts and the money involved in doing so. Why am I willing to do this? I have shopped performance shops for almost a year within a 150 mile radius of my hometown trying to get someone to take on the TL and do exactly what pass427 and others here have managed to do. I wasn't able to do this so it means a lot to me to know someone succeeded where I didn't and I applaud them. This is such an exciting time for all of us and I want to see where this can be taken, that's why I'm offering my TL and funds to get this along farther and faster. Get in touch with me if I can help.
Again, I applaud all involved!!

Not bad...what rpm is the boost coming in at? I guess they don't have all the final pics of the kit. I didn't see if they had pics of where the turbo, exhaust manifold and j-pipe connect. If you've seen them..please post them. Seem like a great kit..definately some good parts.

My guess is with that turbo it should start seeing boost at 2,500rpm with it all in by 3,500 but that's just a guess.
