I don't thing the wiring is long enough to reach the pillar unless you extend the wires. I just book my dyno /tune day for next Wednesday $125/hour dyno and tune is $225/hour. He doesn't have the program tunerstudio. So I will bring my laptop.

Definitely will need to extend the wires if he is consistent with the lengths he sent me. Where HiSpeed put it is about the limit I believe.

With the tune I have, I can see it when I am in the 6K range and about 8lbs of boost. I saved some logs and sure enough, there is knock and reaction to it. You are absolutely right about taking a pic, unless the passenger can do it, I would not be able to handle taking a picture and driving while that thing is on. It's all I can do just to catch it in my peripheral vision and still hang on.

The knock light reflects perfectly from my location.

How is your ride running? I know you had some issue getting the MS3 running correctly.
I am amazed how much better mine is with the latest tune. Numbers are very consistent now and except for a slight bit of startup cranking, the idle and throttle response is very smooth. All with no fine tuning from a tuner.
According to the title, it dyno'd at 380-400whp "safely".

im doing the 6 speed swap into my stock auto 2002 tls. usually people get the jnr harness to make the speedo and such work since the ecu is made for a auto transmission and the jnr module solves that. will the ecu be able to work that way as well plus the tuning capabilities? two birds one stone.

My car is running great, I have the same startup issues but I don't mind the extra cranking, I do have a hot start issue every once in a while with rpm surge. The throttle response is very nice, it's amazing how fast the car moves in the lower gears. but my clutch is starting to slip at 8-9 psi, so I will be in the market for a clutch soon.
What AFR are you running while driving around cruising? My AFR seems to be improving to hi 12's low 13's.

My datalogs show I am a little lean at WOT (mapped for 10 but in the low 11's). My next trial is using VE Analyze Live (Live Tune).
One thing that I need to talk to Rodney about is running without the wideband. My new pump was assembled wrong and the clip on the FPR was pulled out and I lost fuel pressure. I thought it may have been a wideband sensor failure since the readings were way way off. He told me that even with the wideband connected, his tune files are still running fixed just in case the gauge fails. I have looked and read a lot of things and I can't figure out how this is done.
#1690
^^ that must be how my car is running as well, since my AFR sensor was fouled and the car ran no different that after I free air calibrated the sensor. It's good to know my AFR's are where they should be. I can live with the gas mileage for the extra throttle response.

Got a question. When I have my laptop hooked up to the ms3 the air/fuel gauge doesn't work on the laptop? I think it's set to wideband. Would it be better to purchase the registered version of tunerstudioms to benefit my tuner?
#1694
If you are taking it to a tuner then I am guessing they should have a wideband setup like KN stated
just for refernce the TL stock 02 sensors will not be readable with the ms3 and tunerstudio.. if you want to see your AFR you will need the wideband installed
TL stock 02 sensors only work with stock ECU

Love the stealth knock sensor. Probably going to do that myself. I know there was discussion a while back of the Innovative Lc-1, anyone have experience with the Zeitronix Zt-3 or Zt-2?

yeah anil, any idea when rodney will be shipping stuff out? did you get a chance to ask him if he could lengthen the knock sensor wire on my unit?
hope all is well with rodney and his family.

As of Sunday, his baby has still not arrived. I did not talk to him yesterday as I don't want to disturb him during this time.

Are you running stock pre-cats?
I looked at these, really like the flat multi-gauge but there isn't enough user base out there to make me comfortable. If you look at the Consumer Reports tests, which you have to take with some scrutiny, Zeitronix was one of the slower units.

Where are you planning on placing the sensor? It should be in front of any cats as they will change the readings.
The other consideration is heat. Being before the pre-cat is likely going to damage the sensor.

Very easy to lengthen. Just note what color goes where on the unit, use a little screwdriver to release them.
Solder on a length of wire, put heatshrink tubing on the soldered joints and connect it back up to the knocksense unit.

A problem I had was due to someone else doing work for him. I think things like bmeyer had with his harness was also because of this.

i mean, i would like him to do the work if he could...just so i know it's done right.
what kind of wire should i use IF i have to do the soldering myself?
#1712
I don't recall what gauge wire it is, but just make sure it's close in size and stranded. Your local Radio shack should be able to help. Just bring the led and wire with you.

i remember reading something about the extended harness having issues...
#1714
A weld-in M18 X 1.5 boss is supplied for sensor installation. Mount the O2 sensor in the exhaust system at least 18 inches downstream from the exhaust port. If you anticipate high EGT's (over 800C), run a turbocharger, run at high RPM for extended periods of time or plan on running leaded race fuel then you must mount the sensor at least 36 inches or more downstream of the exhaust port as all of these can cause the sensor to overheat. On turbocharged engines the UEGO sensor must be installed after the turbo charger, if not, the pressure differential will greatly affect the accuracy of the unit. For accurate readings, the sensor must be mounted before catalytic converters and/or auxiliary air pumps. To prevent collection of liquids between the sensor housing and sensor element during the cold start phase, the installation angle should be inclined at least 10° from horizontal with the electrical connection upwards, see below.

Not at all, it's just an indicator light and is not in series with any sensors. The issue with the extended harness was what I was referring to with bmeyer and Rodney not doing the work/shipping himself.

Thank you, KN_TL for paving the way.
its making it very easy for me(when the ecu arrives) to pick it up and install, everything from mounting the wideband sensor to playing around with tuner studio.

putting the AEM or LC-1 wideband in the engine bay is somewhat unknown now because of such high heat our engine bays have.. i have read horror stories of the cables being melted but it was from FI engines and nothing TL
reason you have to do it before any cats is because you can’t get a true reading of AFR.. if you do it after cats.. even high flow cats it won’t give you a true reading.. it won’t be incorrect but it won’t give you what the true mixture of AFR that is coming out of your manifold since the high flow cat will be editing the data/flow
if you can return the wideband then do so or purchase cat-deletes and then use the wideband...
just my two cents but check with the tuner first on options.. they will know more of what the wideband is capable of in the engine bay or after the high flow cat
