this is probably an icredibly dumb question, but i'm going to ask it anyway.

i found a shop to weld in the bung/o2 sensor onto my jpipe...my question is, how do i get accurate AFR readings?

is that all you have to do, weld it on and connect it to the gauage and voila...that's it? and if so, will the shop know how to do that?

or do you have to pick up readings from the ECU or how does that work?

^^^ Justn asked me the same question and this was my reply:

you get the bung welded on, then tap the sensor in it (like you tap the O2 sensor)....the sensor connects to a controller....the controller is different for different brands, you cannot run a AEM controller with the LC1 gauge....

then you run the wire from the controller to the gauge....

if you DO NOT have VE LIVE TUNE in the MS3 then you need not wire the controller to the ECU....if you have LIVE TUNE then you GOTTA wire it to the MS3

on a different note....you can run the controller and the gauge depending on what is the voltage output for the control and the input for the gauge....

so if the controller has an output of 0-5V, you can use a different gauge whose inputs match that....

the ms3 ecu does work with the LC1 setup, just choose it in the drop down, so you can live tune the AFR.. i would hold up though until more research/info/experience is available on live tuning.. but you can still run it to ms3 and get some really cool graphs on the afr

W/B calibration is dependent on the manufacturer. Check your specific model to see if they recommend a cal at a given interval and will typically include the process.

Example of the LC-1 Cal (in the manual)

4.3 Calibration Schedule
Normally aspirated daily driver:
- Calibrate before installation of new sensor
- Calibrate new sensor again after 3 month of use
- Thereafter calibrate once a year or every 20,000 miles, whichever comes first
Turbo car, daily driver (tuned rich):
- Calibrate before installation of new sensor
- Calibrate new sensor again after 3 month of use
- Thereafter calibrate twice a year or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first
Race car
- Calibrate before first installation of new sensor
- Calibrate once per race weekend
Dyno use
- Calibrate a new sensor
- Calibrate every 2-3 days, depending on usage

As far as connecting it to the MS3, why in the world would you spend the money on the W/B and not use it with the MS3. Independent of the "Live Tune" feature, it gives the ECU a whole different method of adjusting the fuel mixture instead of a fixed map.

If you register TunerStudio, then you have VE Analyze Live. It's not that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

The controller to sensor is multiwire depending on the sensor.

The connection from the controller to the ECU is just an analog signal hence 1 wire.

It's weird that the schematics from the MS3 site says purple for the wideband connection but I have your email that says pink and I remember it being labeled correctly. Many of the wires have the designation printed on it.

Everyone should follow Rodney instead of the drawing I posted. Sorry for the confusion.

Live tuning works well and actually better than a tuner ,as weve used this feature and tested it BUT ONLY FOR NA APPLICATION WE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING IT ABOVE 100kpa as anyting above 100kpa is positive pressure ,isa video needed to familiarize ecu owners how to ????? .Keep in mind a wideband is definetly needed to use live tuning feature..

I started a thread but I seem to be alone:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/j-r-ecu-water-meth-injection-852210/

Found the FAV at Howerton Engineering and the components from DigiKey are less than $10.00.

I've already got a progressive controller that I am going to dump and just use the relay and plumbing that I already have installed and will just put the FAV in. The setup is pretty simple and I want to do this before heading to the tuner.

what the pciture was saying is tht the ECU will allow you to hit warp speed, they have their head on hands because they are bracing themselves for J&R Warp X speed with the ECU

Yes im sure everyone ecu is here and readyand harness we needed is on way also ,remember its not a plug and play ecu until we make it and send it out needless to say yes it did take a little longer tgan anticipated but given fact they all start up when they are delivered and gains are definetly solid not just we're throwing dyno number up ,and given fact most orders was added with knock unit ,we do deliver snd keep working to please everyone ......

And tunes will be uploaded so customers can have tunes as needed this all takes time and money which we have been doing out of pocket ,ive witness less complicated parts been delayed way past ecu estimated time which we are just giving an example this is an ecu not just a bolt on part and fir most part customers have been pleased so far yes a few have minor hiccups which can and will be solved with a tune from local dyno or even with minor adjustment I usually help out ......
