I'm sorry, but can anyone tell me what is needed for just a base TL? (no mods)
I've been reading a little bit more since I haven't lately and most people say ECU is just ok without the knock sensor?
Sorry I've been drinking and will be drinking more tonight cause the TEXANS WON YAYAYAYAYSAYSUAOSOUSAAS

sounds good to me....
will have Rodney send out an invoice....but u can just send money to the paypal address right ? plus shipping for Canada is $35 more, just FYI
you da manggg
I wont post the price as its the "vendor"'s responsibility...so will have Rodney post it up when he gets to where he is driving LOL
will confirm from Rodney and post it up....
EDIT: just called him: its a JnR knock monitor made to spec with MS3...it will come pre-configured, just plug and play
hahaha you cool....
but yeah you can just get the ECU and call it a day
i would suggest knock monitor and longer harness (to the minimum) but thats totally upto you
ok am gonna make an excel sheet with all the mods per username....so that there will be mistakes in the orders and the payments....will post up in the next few minutes...

^^^ just gonna ask this very thing...I don't have catback exhaust yet, but will later, should I just say I do and the premapped tune will be fine? How far off would the stock exhaust tune be from the catback exhaust be? Better yet, what parameters can I change myself to adjust for a catback?

^^^ good question, but from what's been posted I think you're SOL on installing a wideband for ANY type of cat...you need the primary cats removed (PCDs) in order to properly install one. But besides that, unless you simply cannot live without it, you really don't need it for your mods...I have PCDs and jpipe and I will *not* be installing one...

any wideband sensor comes before any cats... so if no cats then the best place to put a wideband is right before the caching on the Jpipes.. or right after if you do not have the true dual exhaust.. if the RV63 Jpipe and True Dual then at the X/split before the two pipes.. however for most people the Jpipe works.. that is where I have my bunghole
now the question is for folks with High flow precats.. do you put them at the top where OEM is and worry about over heating? or can you still put them after on the jpipe or straight pipe?
side note everytime I see bunghole i think of beavis and butthead...
Beavis's alter-ego..The master of all that is toilet paper..do you have TP for his bunghole?
I AM Cornholio! I NEED TP FOR BUNGHOLE!!

Detailed Solution: if you have a Base MT with RV6 PCDS/JPIPE/Exhaust and i have a Base MT....we have different maps right now, down the line if i get a full exhaust you can prolly email me your map and i can put that in my ECU....and voila am tuned

you can retune it by taking it to a performance shop or by asking someone to email you the base map as i mentioned above

on a serious note, yes you can tap/get the input from the OEM O2 sensor....its narrowband and wont work as well but well better than throwing a bung in a $600 HFC
btw as i said, we can email maps back and forth....so if you get this ECU now and a full exhaust later, you can have someone with the exhaust send you a map....

do we need to state how much our mods are bored out? meaning IM, TB, Runners.. and also the MDX Spacer along with other items in the Intake area to Runners? the OEM size I beleive for the TB is 64mm (I have a few items at 70mm )
Also do we need to state the size of exhaust? i will be getting a 3inch exhuast for future plans
I know we can tweak afterwards but wasnt sure if to maximize intial performance and csat it was needed

for all i see is, bored TB = 70-72mm right now (am planning on 80 down the line but we will see )....i would suggest listing what you have now and rolling with it....once you have all the other mods installed then take it to a dyno and tune it or get the efi software for $69 and let it tune ur car itself....
you can PM me the details and will update it....

Swoosh, sorry, you kinda confused me there. If the ECU is coming pre-programmed with the mods that I have, what does that have to do with an Excel sheet? I was asking if I had the ECU programmed for exhaust mods, but I don't actually have them yet, what would happen?

consider this:
your car: 06 BASE 6MT MODS: Intake/PCD's
my car: 06 BASE 6MT MODS: Intake/PCD's/Jpipe/Catback
We will have 2 different base maps. each of our ECU's will come loaded with the base map. Your will be tuned to stock exhaust, mine to aftermarket exhaust....
Now when you buy a jpipe + catback, we have similar mods, and I can mail you my base map, which will OVER WRITE your base map.....and hence you will be "tuned" for the new exhaust components....
still ?

let me double check with Rodney....as far as am aware you can connect ur lappy to the ECU and tune the ECU.....about the software on the lappy i think it should come with the ECU but again I will need to confirm with Rodney....

Don't need to bring anything to a tuner, you can easily change maps all by yourself. Just upload it to the J&R ecu from your computer and you're good to go. This ecu, like flash pro, k-pro, Cobb, is completely end-user friendly. I myself will not be taking mine to any tuner as I am fully capable doing this myself. Now if I wanted everything knats ass on, then I would get it pro tuned...

I experience the same sort of startup issue and I haven't tried it in the cold yet, this was in the warmer weather. Seems to need to crank for a couple seconds then fires right up.
I felt the same experience going from the FIC to the J&R. Night and day difference how the car woke up and was so responsive.

but yeah difference for me was def night and day!!!
great review, boston. thanks!
so you said you experienced knock/lag and it had to be tweaked on the road? is it safe to assume that the rest of us will have that issue as well?
also the cold starts where you have to crank it for 5 minutes...? no thanks. what is the story behind that? kinda' worries me a little.
happy to hear that rodney will be going to bat for us 5AT guys with the governor removal and hopefully more. very interested in that feature.
again, thanks for the thourough review!

Also with the starting goes the same as I am getting this corrected as well, and like Swoosh said if whatever reason you have a different map set-up from me and I am not having issues that you are for example we send a map to someone who has same set-up..... And at end of day worse case scenario if it is so bad you email/call Rodney and tell him what is going with your set-up snd unplug your JnR unit and plug stock ecu only until you get new update!
If you look here, it explains how the startup is handled.
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/...htm#start_idle
As Inacc points out, all of these settings are based on the current coolant temperature so it could be a long process.
It would also be difficult for Rodney to setup a cold crank at my possible coldest day of -30F when he doesn't see anything close to that.
