another question...
what TL was used to get the base map established and what were the supporting mods? was the base map used to its full potential on that car or is there room to add more power?
I only ask bc if I don't necessarily have to get it tuned right away, that'd be nice.

I have multiple time slips from completely stock, then with j pipe, and will have ones after ECU. I only run the car full weight (including my chair in the trunk) so I have a good baseline, and real world results. Plan on having it dyno tuned at Synapse in Scotia, NY, bunch of good guys up there.

so the tune will be specific to your MODEL + Tranny but not to YOUR CAR....you will gain 20odd WHP just by that tune, when you tune it for your car you will prolly gain a few more horses....

^^^ WOW....
that is insane....btw am gonna be in Bmore today will drive by it tomorrow..../offtopic
but yeah try getting to a shop who know what they are doing + cheaper....also if your mods are similar to BostonTypeS (am assuming the TypeS people will get his maps as he is gonna be in FL today getting the ECU + tune) then you should not have a problem....
I would keep the tune AS IS....get the Tuner Studio (http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/) for 69 bucks and have the software do the tune for you....
OR
Keep it as is....when you do some more work like CAMS/HEADS/Turbo then get a full blown tune to your specific app....

Rodney should answer this as soon as he can but the maps can't be blank.
I also don't know how the O2 sensor feed is being supplied. With our setups, we already have a wideband installed so the output from that is sent to the MS3.
The maps can be set to conservative levels to get you running. How you fine tune is up to you.

FWIW, I have a 07 TL-S (auto) with aemV2 intake, UR stock lightweight pulley, v3 pcds, v3 jpipe, xlr8 quad exhaust.
It would be nice to know if BostonTypeS is getting his tuned to 90% or thereabouts power wise...that would alleviate some of my concerns and not turn this into a $$$ project.

I'll just patiently wait for Boston/Rodney's update. If he can produce a base map with similar modifications on different models, that would help out a lot of people seeing how we won't have to go spend $100's of dollars getting a tune afterwards.

Oh oops. I didn't know it came PRE-TUNED...that's awesome. Obviously to get the most out of your setup you will need a custom tune. This deal is sounding better and better lol.
$175/hr isn't cheap but that sounds in the ballpark of what I'd expect. I expected anywhere from $4-600 for a tune. I got quoted $600 from someone to tune my car with the FIC. He also never tuned a J and told me it may take 2 days, so in hindsight, it didn't sound all that bad considering he would've out a lot of dyno time in. However, $600 isn't cheap.

So very temped. I saw the video where the stock ECU still sends out OBDII data to scanners. But will this ECU send false signals to keep the stock ECU from throwing trouble codes. Sort of like the AEM FIC with O2 skewing where the stock ECU is unaware of changes being made? My state only cares if there is a check engine light or stored trouble codes.

All i know is imagine you set the VTEC to 5000 rpm....and at 4800 rpm your ECU detects "fawk the valves didnt open" it might flash a CEL which might go off at 5K rpm....this is what am assuming....
I have the RV6 PCD's and the defoulers work like magic....no CEL....

I'm assuming people who would get this ECU would have done most of the bolt-ons already
ie) Intake, Jpipe, Catback etc can be a Base Map & (CAI+JPIPE+CATBACK)
This will enable the end user to get the tune done more easily and faster.
Not to mention it would work out a lot cheaper if you could use this to get close and just tune it yourself instead of having to "have" to pay someone to do it.
If you have to go in for safety/inspection you could just set VTEC to default and change it back afterwards I'm guessing.

Based on all other Honda platforms lowering VTEC has been seen as beneficial.
However according to the above posted video's where VTEC is altered it seems that increasing the VTEC engagement point seems to remove a bump in the HP line and for TQ it makes it a more horizontal flat line.
The car looks like it will pull better in the low end and continue to do so linearly whilst maintaining the gains throughout both curves.
You would definitely want to start getting some bolt-ons to fully maximize the gains you can get with the JnR ECU though.

And where's the price, Swoosh? I may still get in on this. Chase and Citi are running some killer 0% offers with $100-200 cash back on $500+ purchases.

I agree as well. In addition to the base map if the car that's used has some mods done to it; create a second map with some mods so we can load that up and tune it from there.

I am interested to see how much it will bump up a bone stock TL.

i did exactly the same stuff with my exhaust LOL....
Rodney text me saying he will be a vendor by 1st (I think he is waiting for the start of the month).....I am expecting everything to get their ECU's by end of Jan
You got gtalk message bro
I think he is at par....the stock car without the ECU made 245 something....so if Justn adds exhaust he will gain 2-5 ponies and sound better
With the Group Buy on the Turbo....it becomes a lot more effective (cost wise)...

I am not sure why you would need to remove it in the first place unless you've got some really strict physical inspections. If they are just doing an OBD-II scan, then it's going to pass with the MS3 or not as long as you don't have a CEL locked.

This will be the last time I add to this thread but you really need to be careful declaring something like this. The ability to run with the stock ECU is going to depend on whatever else was added that is being compensated by the MS3.

what i meant is, if you have a CEL, you can clear the codes, unplug the ECU and run it on stock ECU, get it inspected and connect it back up
Rodney did tell me this....also since I dont have an ECU yet, all your comments are most than welcome on this thread....
I am also thinking about doing an EGR+PCV delete....i bet they will be throwing the CEL....
