That robber is lucky those boys didn't have heat...he'd be ded. Dumbazz ahole.
Good morning y'all!
Adam...so you guys have to go 6x6 posts but only every 8 feet. Interesting...
You shouldn't have to do anything...you should have had a full on conversation with the people behind you and made sure you had a solid and understood agreement before letting them build you a fence. That's the problem...I'm sure that your 2 neighbors were NOT willing to do the labor...but you were...big disconnect there...either way, if you'd talked before this disaster you'd have been involved in the plan for post digging and where the property line ends and not pulling the pin and what part of the labor YOU could have done to lighten the financial load on your end (maybe get the materials. Shoot...if you'd have had a conversation with them...you might have gotten away with them paying for materials and you just doing the labor correctly.
Either way, communication was key IMO.
Majofo...what the fk are you even doing on this site without tons of pictures of your car? Check the 20's on an ILX thread.

Robbery? I don't think I've heard about it. I did hear about the people getting arrested at a motel for a drug and prostitution ring. They had 64 grams of crack on them.

I made it clear from the beginning I would only pay for materials and not labor. He agreed. I could not build the fence as I literally do not have the time now. My plan was to build it in late July or early August. He couldn't wait.
I also would not be building my neighbor's side fence. We only share the back fence- the fence on the side of their houses would still need to be done. I'm not doing it. Again, time is a major constraint.
I also do not have the right to tell his contractor what to do. I did not hire him. I'm also not paying for his labor, so he does not work for me. I can't go start laying out post holes for the contractor, as if there is a warranty claim, the contractor has the right to refuse, saying he built the fence not to his standards.
I can't supply the materials. I don't have a truck. The neighbors got a discount on the labor because they got materials through the contractor. They figured they would have paid more overall if they didn't get it from the contractor. Also, if anything goes wrong, the contractor has the ability to blame the materials and not his workmanship during the warranty period. That is also not a viable option.
Common man... contract law!! The fact the contractor pulled out the property pins and didnt replace them is a big shock to me. They shouldn't have been touched. I can't sit there baby sitting them over the 7 days they were working (they did all the landscaping for both houses, not just the fence)

So Adam:
You didn't want to pay for labor.
You can't do the labor until it's convenient for you, which didn't work for the guy since he wanted a fence now and not "hopefully" in 3 months from now.
You couldn't keep an eye on progress to ensure it was being done well (could have talked to the guy that DID hire the contractor).
Jumping to conclusion...sure, I am not you...so I had to fill in some blanks. But you taking zero accountability make you sound like a real nightmare to work things out with.

City took my bulk pickup last month...their crane dug out a huge patch of my very finely fertilized St. Augustine grass and left a huge dirt hole.
Hmmm...on principle...contact city...get reimbursed of get quote...or get shot down...or wait forever for a response...
Or just be grateful they have bulk that doesn't require bagging and that they took an entire dead tree away for me and spend the $8 for 4 pieces of sod and fix myself (well, I also tried using pieces that flew off trucks I found on the highway that were too dead to take... TWICE I made my trunk filthy with dead grass and dirt to save $8 ).
That's my approach, at least.

i'm still trying to figure out the then and than context and if i used the right one...
but I totally agree...when I know I can get it done right and easy and cross it off my list of things to have to worry about...a lot of times, I'll just do it.

Hey...a lot of times people let pride and ego dictate. Would have been a lot easier to do his NOT job during install than NOW since he's having to address the issues anyway.

Besides, what if Adam was not able to do a better job himself? Does that make him less entitled to a proper resolution? He should simply accept being served wrong?
