you get what you pay for when buying wheels. the difference between a 19lb $500 wheel and a 19lb $200 wheel is the certification.
Sure, the cheaper one might be as strong as the expensive one- but I doubt it.

I have no problem with XXR, I just wouldn't buy them. I was making fun of the fact that N1 said he wanted expensive wheels, but didn't have the money...then kept saying money wasn't an issue for expensive fluid and brakes, that's all.
I personally don't care about what other people buy.

If he said XXR were his boo and he them and always dreamed of them I woulda said go for it and happy trails...it's because he's scratching the itch to bang Scar Jo with a 2 hour session with Roseanne Barr that I gave the advice I did.

Anyway, $34.50 for your XXR n1. Being nice, because I would need to buy rings and roll the fenders and blah blah if I got them from you.

But rolling fenders is like a TL right of passage
EDIT: Shit this reminds me I need to call the shop I was thinking of going to and make an appointment to roll mine

$800 is the price of the wheels as I see it, the cheap tires are a bonus. I can get them removed for free through my uncle and flip them anytime. Worth 110 each brand new, can get 75 easy for them.
You guys like to blow things out of proportion though. The tranny isn't going to explode for an additional 2 weeks until I get my pay, really. Simply not putting everything on the same weekend, ya dig?

Just found the mother of all cheap mechanic deals. Getting everything installed next week for 300$ by a shop that multiple people around here say is fantastic. That's coils, arms, rear sway and endlinks.
Just gotta go get an alignment afterwards, and find someone to roll my damn fenders lol.

Don't roll your fenders. Even if someone claims to be a professional at doing it. You'll create micro fractures in your paint and living out east, the salt will eat your car away sooner than later. And yes, I've heard of heating up the paint while doing, etc.
I refuse to buy a car that has rolled fenders. Everyone claims to have it done right. 1 year later they post questions asking why their car is rusting prematurely.
The TL already has semi rolled fenders in the back. If function over form is your priority, work with what you have. You can make your car look plenty good without rolling.
If I lived in Cali or Texas or Florida, I'd consider it. But not up north.

Well we'll see if I can get away with not rolling them - I highly doubt it with +20 offset on the 530s. For that matter I'll likely be touching up the fenders afterwards for that exact reason. 20$ in touchup paint and an extra hour or two is better than chopped tires to me. That's just my
Also I know two people who have had their fenders rolled and have had no issues, Toronto salt and all.
I realize its a case of YMMV but at this point I'm pretty committed to aggressive fitment, and the car will likely be seeing significantly less time on the road next winter if I move closer to work. During the winter I mean. Derp

I just want to state how much of a ******* pain in the ass it is to find someone that will roll your fenders in the Toronto area and NOT charge 20 bajillion dollars. Fuck this, I'm getting a baseball bat and renting a heat gun.

I would agree normally, although they're not as crappy as I make it sound. Thing is like I said tires are virtually freebies included in the deal. I'll see how they behave, if they're shit they're getting canned on kijiji in no time. Sell like hotcakes, it's tire changing season. Heck I can probably sell them directly through my uncle. Anyway, rambling.
That said, if there's a time cheap or old tires are absolutely NEVER EVER even remotely acceptable, it's winter. Wanna die? Yeah go.

But god those Canadian prices. Getting assraped like that ain't fun, need some of the KY jelly rs143 buys in barrel size.

Yup, like the people trying to drive a Carrera 4S on Super Sports when its -20 out this winter in Toronto
The paint bubbling with these cars seems to be awfully common - I have a couple of places where this is the case on my car as well. We'll see what state its in after I get it corrected at a shop this May, I may get a body shop to touch up some of the more egregious marks on the car.
Also good news - Found a shop that will do my fenders. Coilovers, camber kit, rear sway bar going in on Tuesday along with wheels and then off to ye ole alignment shop for what I hope will be less than -3 degrees of camber in the back

Love the stance and fitment, hate what's been done to the front bumber. If we're going aftermarket, I still think Eric's Epic TL with the Versus bumper is the best look. I might actually go with a Versus bumper down the line if I get to turbo this thing like I'm hoping

Yes, sway him because he has stated repeatedly that he's on a budget and the wheels he REALLY wants are Volks/Weds. I'm not a wheels snob...I just don't buy shitty wheels.
Don't tell me what I mean.
Yeah, not buying a quality wheel in your case is prudent.
I despise blanket statements that absolve you from having been a part of the misconception. You do this a lot.
I actually agree...although I feel fairly confident that I know what I'm doing now...I've only had 2 customers, one being Austin. I'm absolutely petrified of not knowing what's under the paint and finding out too late...and I've learned something new every time...which is not fair when "practicing" on other people's cars and charging pro pricing. I am having this very internal conflict with myself over whether or not to touch my virgin awesome unfucked stock fenders on the S2000...no rubbing now...but I do know how fucking sexy the car would look with a 15/20MM combo on it. I have a 15 out back now and no rubbing...

Yeah, ain't gonna happen in eastern canada unless you just drop it on bags and drop it this low when it's parked.
I see some pretty funny shit every winter. Winter tires are obligatory here and even then there's days on my daily commute of 10 minutes that I see 3 different cars in the ditch or implicated in collisions. wtf people.
It's only one spot so far and I noticed it over new year weekend and it's been bugging me since. I prob look at it every day and touch it to make sure it hasn't got bigger.
It's a Honda though. Next to Mazda absolute shitty paint, chances are it's going to rust or the clear coat is going to magically disappear over time...
I got a crappy scratch on my rear passenger door that the previous owner fixed with touch up paint, probably from a tree branch. I hate it, gotta fix that. A few weeks ago I noticed somebody rubbed against my rear passenger fender too and made tiny white streaks too! Gotta buff that out.
Rest is surprisingly good for a 04. =)
Did you buy a camber kit too? Unless you wanna end up with inner wear...

I think the lower portion of the front bumper is from a Lexus. RS told me, but it's been a while. That's one of many Google Images of Custom 3G TLs. RS's NBP is on there too.

As for camber kit, I got Skunk2 UCA for the front, going to go with natural camber in the back and see where I end up. Even -4 isn't all that bad if the toe is within spec. Worst comes to worst I'll get an SPC upper arm for the back. I do think I will be running some aggressive camber though considering I want to push another 10mm in offset in the rear if possible

You don't need to take everything I type so seriously man.
On the topic of buying quality wheels, I'll be honest and say I don't have the money nor the desire to spend +$2K on wheels alone. I'm likely making less money than the majority of people here and I don't pretend I can stick with the amount of customization a lot of people put into their car. Cheapie wheels are "good enough" for my need, and it would further kill me if I destroyed expensive wheels due to the potholes we have here.
Regarding the tranny maintenance, I've even mentioned I made this sound worse than it actually is, as it's hard to quantify over a forum post. You don't need to selectively ignore this post. All you guys input is always appreciated.

I don't think I'm better than anyone for having pricey wheels. If I were not able to afford them, I'd prefer to have the stock enkeis.
I just get annoyed when people tell me what I meant or what I'm saying. I was only telling him not to regret spending $800 on something that isn't what he wants. Because if he's anything like me...in 2 months, when the newness wears off...he'll realize he's now tasked with selling the cheap stuff he bought for a loss...and then it'll cost that much more to jump on the wheels he actually digs.
I'm not wearing panties.
