If anyone thinks the G35 looks better than a TL, they're on crack! The front of that thing looks like garbage. Nissan, hands down makes the worst grills in the auto industry. If you choose a G35 over a TL, say it's because of the power and the extra bells and whistles, but NOT cause of the looks!
And with the very minor changes that was made to the car (front is all we can see), how is it that the TL became UGLY all of a sudden? Everyone begged for turn signal mirrors and now that we have them everyone is crying that they're ugly! Well what the hell does good looking turn signal mirrors look like anyway? Yes, that blue color is a mess, but the car is still the same and people are ready to abandon ship. Despite being almost 4 years old in design, the TL is still one of the best looking cars on the market, PERIOD! And looks is what makes people buy cars, not turn signal mirrors, paddle shifters, push button start and all this other non-sense. When we bought our TLs it was because the car looked hot as hell! The technology and power was icing on the cake, but it was the way the car LOOKED that got us to the dealer. The fact of the matter is, is that the TL was a head turner back in '03 and it still is now, despite the changes that were made.

I think the perfect car would be the body, interior and nav from the TL dropped on to the chassis of the new G35. I guess that would be the 09 TL.......I can't wait that long, so I guess I will either get 07 base TL or 06 TL, depending on what the 07's look like in person.

The 07 G35 is a sharp car. Very good looking. Taking its looks from the M35/M45. The TL is a good looking car as well. But you know, it was time for Infiniti to make the car look good with 4 doors.
To you it may look garbage, but I bet you my paycheck its gonna make MT or C&D car of the year.

LOL, I just sold my 2000 Grand Prix GT with 88k miles on it last Saturday and I really liked mine too! I was sad to see it go, sort of reminds me of the TL though in that it had a lot of bang for the buck and was like a sporty/luxuryish sort of car (I'll probably get flamed for that comment so bring it...)
I still have my 2001 Saab 93 SE convertible that I'm trying to sell or trade in toward the 06 TL. I really like that car too but I bought it used (beat) and want something more reliable. But I've got to say that 4 cyc w/turbo is a blast to drive and it got better MPG than my Grand Prix (24 and 22 respectively).

I'm keeping my eye on the G35 as well. I want to buy a new car now and would ideally like to have the G35C but I can't wait. (I have an '00 TL and have been planning to get the 07 TL, but...).
The new G35 is bigger in some dimensions but smallet in others (shoulder room).

i dunno what kind of experiences, if any, you've had with nissans, but from personal experience i LOVE them and they are very reliable. if the 06 g35 sedan didnt look like crap, i may not have had the WONDERFUL opportunity to buy my TL (i love this car). but i'm still a nissan fan at heart.
go on the maxima or 240sx forums and see how many of those guys/gurls have over 150k on their maximas and then tell me "they're all crap"
so wise up and get ur facts straight before posting up BS.

I think a $40K Type S is a big mistake on Acura's part, as people spending that kind of money are going to gravitate towards either Lexus, G35 or BMW due to higher HP, RWD or AWD. The Type S loses the bang for buck value that Acura is famous for.

If I was going to spend $40K, I would get the New G or Lexus. Since I am only willing to spend in the $35K range, nothing and I mean NOTHING even comes close to the TL for value. Does it have the best performance, no, the most luxury, no, but dollar for dollar and feature for feature, the TL can't be beat. The only question is whether I get 06 or 07 and that will depend on what the 07 looks like and offers. I hope they don't change the looks too much as I think it is an awesome looking car. I guess I just have to wait.....which may just drive me to drink...I want one sooooo bad.....

I don't know where this talk of the '07 G35 being $40k came from. The '06 G35 even with Nav and Premium pkg has an MSRP of about $37k. I don't expect them to push prices up on the '07 much further in this competitve market and deals somewhere between MSRP and Invoice should be attainable a few months after intro. Basically, on price, an '07 G35 and '07 TL base will be pretty comparable, maybe 2k more for the '07 G35 at intro. But I expect it to be less expensive than the '07 Type-S.

thanks chfields, I used edmunds for my post and it was comparable to your numbers at $37k for the 2wd. I should have specified that I was assuming non-AWD to be apples-to-apples. Anyway, the '06 TL is a great deal for sure at current discounts. But put Nav on a base '07 TL and we're talking about $36k MSRP... so I think it will come down to which someone can get a better deal on when comparing prices on the '07 TL with Nav and the '07 G35 equiped like the '06 you did above. I think both cars are very sharp.

Overall, the RL is aimed at an older audience that wants a cushy ride, lots of electronic trinkets and plenty of luxury touches for long-distance touring or driving to the coountry club with friends. The TL is a more youth-oriented car (especially the Type-S), with a sportier ride and more aggressive styling and handling.
And keep in mind there is still an $11,000 price difference between the RL and the Type-S.

Not only that... I personally think Infiniti's build quality has improved so much that it surpasses that of Acura. Look at the leather seats of the '06 G35 quality compared to that of the TL. The TL's leather is like that of a civic or accord. The backseat of the G35 is more comfortable than the TL.. It reclines! That's a sign of company wanting to satisfy its customers...
Basically, I'm pretty fed up with Acura putting that type of quality in a 30k car.. totally not acceptable.

Those most notably being the slight hp change on the base and of course the Type-S, fog lights, headlights, turn signals on the side mirrors, steering wheel, gauges, and minor interior leather upgrades.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the TL..but people like you who don't see the obvious or accept the facts are getting rather annoying.

The only downfall of Infiniti IMO is their Service Department kinda sucks most of the time. if you think Acura's bad, just go service your infiniti. worst customer service ever. My dad use to own an I35 and now a G35x. They're reliable and fast but everytime you go into service you get pissed off. we also needed the CD player replaced twice in 3 years cause it kept on skipping (not nissan's falt really cause they do'nt build the head unit but still). We're waiting for the 07 TL to come out to possibly replace the G. I know for sure we're not getting another infiniti. It's between the TL and the ES now. Infiniti's interior material's pretty bad.

Again, everyone is intitled the his/her own opinion...but PLEASE do not act like the people on here that have been reading this thread for MONTHS, have NO idea what they're talking about
...& yes we can compare the two. you say "we can't say if the TL has this or that", but we can. Like NUMEROUS articles have said...there have been minor changes. Those most notably being the slight hp change on the base and of course the Type-S, fog lights, headlights, turn signals on the side mirrors, steering wheel, gauges, and minor interior leather upgrades.

Three Wheelin'
sounds like the 07 G35 will blow the TL out of the water.....but I wonder how much price difference the two would have. Even as of right now the current G35 and TL, feature and spec-wise the G35 edgess it. But if you factor the price, I dont think I'll pay for more. I wanted to purchase the Lexus IS250 AWD but just couldnt justify the extra $4k price over the TL, if you include the NAV option. Considering it only has 200 plus horses, while the TL has more with NAV.
