And I highly doubt anything the UniChip does could blow our engines. The stock ECU will back off timing severly if something is out of line. The majority of what AAM does is turbo applications on DSM cars.

That must be what my tuner was talking about then Steve. They must be blowing up turbo DSMs. The shop I used specializes in DSMs, subarus, and EvoVIII's. They actually had the first evo8 in the 10s, then the same one was the first in the 9s

Doubtful, they flow isn't increased that much. I don't plan on updating my map any time soon and I just installed the UR pulleys. If scalbert comes out with the RES I might adjust it...

Just got off the phone w/ Jack. My new kit will be going out tommorow so I'll keep everyone posted on what goes down. Jack also said the winter should NOT affect our lean/rich conditions but I'll wait and see how it goes.
Another good point. i mentioned about the hand-held uni-chip controller that we could purchase to make our own adjustments....and he said "WE'RE IN THE MAKING" He said they have thought about this and are working on one. They are also working on another web-based version of this where u would be able to make ur own adjustments over the web. We would have to buy a data cable and plug our uni-chip into our PC's and over the web make some adjustments. He said he has no ETA on the two devises but is hoping for the end of the year. Good shit mang...
Also...about track testing for the uni-chip instead of dynos....I was considering this highly but it's also the middle of the summer and it's like 90 degrees everyday w/ alot of humidity. There would be no point in track testing until the fall.

wow thats great news!
and I agree about the temps Ant. unless I get an unusually cold dry night sometime soon, I probably won't know how the chip does on the track til fall.

I improved by almost 1 full MPH in 15 degree warmer weather. Late September and October track time might make it up to 2 MPH, although I've got a few other tricks up my sleve too.

On the thought of track testing. Eventhough its 90 degrees out there, but if you run back to back with Chip and without chip, wouldn't that give a good indication on whather the chip is working regardless of the temperture??

I have an appt with the dealer tomorrow for the tranny recall among others. I guess it's time to take the chip out. I let you guys know if there is any difference at all. The chip has been in the car for over 1.5 tanks of gas.

Just got my remapped chip yesterday and installed it today. Only got to start it up, did not drive it. So far it started up like stock, no hesitation or stall. I have to leave for a picnic and concert. Will be taking it out tomorrow. Will report back.

Let it idle for 10-15mins before you take it out for a drive. I did this the first time I installed the chip but not the second, and the second I had idling problems.

First impressions, better than stock, but different from the first map. The first map gave me that 1/2 throttle rush, but from 1/2 to full I felt no difference. Now the power is more linear. At all degrees of the throttle I feel alittle more guts. Just like everyone else. I'm in a perdicament, do I spend another 75 bucks on a dyno to see if it is working. Or just stick with the but dyno feeling alittle more rush through the gears. Otherwise I do like when the chip is in. The is a slight better feel. The idle was fine after a few stop lights. it was down around 500 then went back to 750 normal. That even happens when I do something to the stereo and I have to disconnet the battery. Nothing I was worried about.

LOL.. When I told Jack my issues he said just send it back.. Then I prompted him and asked if I needed to provide any info with the return. So I got a Return Autorization number..

I've had 2 dyno's done for the UniChip Groupbuy and a custom tune... you can drop the additional $$ on a dyno. Seeing and HEARING your car on the dyno is a pretty awesome experience too.

I say run it at the track. this will be the best test
I just sent my chip out UPS to be remapped. should have it back in two weeks. I think I will track test it then .. might also have my UR crank pulley by then. Maybe 13s

Just got back from a 600+ mile round trip w/ chip. This was the 1st time in about 3 or 4 months that I really drove my car. I had zero problems. I only had a few WOT runs, but never had any flashing lights. I kept the cruise set at 85 and just held on. I was just excited that I did not have any issues.
I keep hearing that our cars are very sensitive to temp., alt., etc....
Do our cars have different ECUs from the factory? I don't think so.
