I'm glad to hear Jack stepped up to the plate and took it back.
Hopefully comptech will be that cooperative with the springs.

I am finally happy with my Unichip.
When I first got the chip I installed and could not tell much difference so I took it by a local tuner (GRD) in Naperville, IL. They checked it out and said the the A/F was 14:1 and I was getting pre-detonation. They tried to upload a new program but the chip would not accept it. They advised sending it back to Jack, which I did. Unichip gave me the new
"E" map. I installed it about a week ago and could not tell much difference.
Today I took it by GRD to have them check it out again and they said it needed some adjustments. They made adjustments and were able to upload the program to the chip.
All I can say is I can feel the difference now. Custom tune is the way to go.
I am going to see if Jack will cover part of the cost of the custom tune.

did you get a dyno sheet?

Jacks been out of town so I've been talking to Joshua. He recommended a costom tune also since I'm near a unichip friendly dyno. Hey dj5 how much was the custom tune. Joshua recommended that shop to me. I told him about the problem GRD was having uploading a new map and he said they just needed the new update. I guess they have it now since yours is working. Great to hear

They charged me $150 for dyno and custom tune.

I didn't do a dyno before the unichip install.

ant7701, i've followed your proceedings w/ interest as i'm now experiencing some similar symptoms. i have recieved a reflashed chip ("D" map ) and installed i immediately got flashed cel's then consistant cel during my first wot run. the power gain seemed to be there but the cel was read as 300 random,301,302,303,304,305,306 all misfire codes with one freeze code302 cyl 2 missfire...plus 1399. the car is still running fine but now however high rpm is showing some power loss. called josh at unichip this am , no callback yet
any thoughts? anyone else experienced this ?

Just received a note from Jack saying he would cover $100 of my custom tune.
I am now happy with the results but it was a pain getting there. Should have bought the blank and did the custom tune to begin with.

That sounds great dj5. That's about all the gain I was expecting. At this point I would be happy with 1hp increase on the dyno. So far both chips have yeilded the same as stock even though the car feels stronger. If Jack is willing to give the $100 dollars back then 50 bucks is definitly worth a custom tune.

My advice to everyone that is experiencing the same symptoms/problems as me...get out while u can!!!!!return the friggen thing cause unless u get a custom tune they will never find a way to fix it by just sending u new chips w/ guess maps. I guess this one will work better....yeah right. i have now had to ship back three full kits...$20 each. You do the math!! Plus, not to mention, on my third and final chip..the car flew. BIG power increase, but i had CELS the entire time so i personally think this chip is useless to some of us. just a big friggen headache!!

Uhh...I dunno. Just call them up if u want to return it. I'm not trying to tell everyone to return this product, but if ur experiencing the same shit I went thru, it's not worth it.

reoccuring unichip problem, (according to josh @ unichip) flashing cel's i'm experiencing are caused by a faulty capacitor in the PNP harness assembly which was included in the design to eliminate random misfire readings sent by the crank position sensor during wot operation. he is sending out new harness today. i'm suppossed to install to see if this is a fix. will report results

Has anyone successfully returned their unichip? I planned on getting mine dynoed but haven't yet. I don't have time nor patience to go through a bunch of iterations only to see marginal results. My 90 day warranty expires on 8/26 and I want to get my $$$ back. Has anyone gotten their money back?
Thanks

For those who already returned the chip, what exactly did you have to do? Will Unichip just refund the money less your deposit if you mail them the chip or is it more involved?

Randy just lost interest and returned it, but lost his deposit. Although he never even opened the box.
Ant had major physical problems with the chip so I'm sure they gave him a full refund. If you didnt have problems you will probably get 500$ back without your deposit.

I took a short trip in my car last night for the first time in a while. I decided to be a little rough to see if the chip was doing anything. Well, my tires barked a little almost everytime it shifted from 1st to 2nd. VSA even flashed once. The only time it ever did that before was before the engine/trans. warmed up and it was shifting hard.
Maybe it is working for me.

I always chirp 1 -> 2 shift. I also break traction when VTEC engages in 1st gear. So I'll have traction from like 2500-5500 then I start chriping again Pretty cool... but 100% traction would be faster New tires needed...

I have less than 22,000 miles on the stock tires, so I don't think that it is the tires going bad that is causeing this.

update to my post #775, 0f 8/30: recieved new harness and installed using the "D" chip , no change good power thruout but cels occurring at 6.2k to redline. (random cyl. misfire)
josh @ unichip said car could be timing sensitive so they sent a new chip with "D" fuel map and no timing advance in the "a" map setting , 2 deg advanced in the "b" map setting. installed, did idle relearn and (6) runs each in "a" and "b" settings .
results: slight power loss thruout but cels occurring at 6.5k to redline. (random cyl. misfire) power loss could be temp/humidty related. unichip will send another chip with fuel adjustment only, as they dont believe this cel problem is timing related. i'll repost results after install
