Edmonton Acuraziner's
Yeah I've experimented with this quite a bit when I first got the car. I think I'll go with letting the e-brake fully catch on N and then puttting in P.
As for starting the car up and moving from P to R or P to D though, does it make sense to do:
Method 1:
- Start car, put foot on brake
- Release e-brake, keeping foot on brake
- Put into D or R
Method 2:
- Start car, put foot on brake
- Put car into D or R
- Release e-brake, keeping foot on brake until you're ready to go
Currently I'm using Method 1.

I honestly don't know how much our shop rate is. It usually takes an hour per each side. I'm not a tech. I just do oil change, tires, lights, etc. haha I've seen them lowered an Acura RSX (coils and camber kit) and even raised(lift kit and bags) a truck.
I use waffle weave towels. Arthur, I hope you aren't thinking of using drying towels at the coin wash after you hose it down, because that has the possibility of introducing even more swirls. Unless of course you're hosing the car down with the PW, then doing a 2BM wash and drying it off.
It's always much easier to wash and dry a car that has a wax or sealant on it since the water beads on the paint. I could get into the whole process of washing a car again but I posted a mini write-up sometime back in summer on this thread.
For me, this is what I do: I wash the car using a 2BM and my PW, then use my leaf blower to get the majority of the standing water off and out of all the crevices. Then I use my WW towels to mostly dry the car off. Lastly, I take my quick detailer and go over the entire car with it using my plush microfibers to dry it off. The quick detailer adds a bit of boost to the existing protection on the car and gives it some extra gloss. One of the QD's I have is anti-static so it helps resist dust build up on the surface. Probably not too noticeable on a white car but it is on darker colors.

^No, I never hose down my car and just use drying towels. haha. I clayed my car and waxed it before winter and I kinda got hooked with detailing stuff (not as hooked as you :P) I'm even planning to get a full detail from you this summer. haha
Oh very cool! A fellow detailing enthusiast in the rising! Yeah if you ever have questions or want some advice on detailing feel free to give me a shout. Btw, anyone going to the motor show? I'll most likely be helping out the autoobsessed booth on Saturday evening after work and on Sunday.
Lol sorry won't be able to provide free tickets
I got my acurazine stickers in the other day. Got a pair this time. One of them is a bit sloppy with the cut on two letters. I guess it still beats the one I have on right now. One of the letters are tilted the opposite direction from all the others.

@Vince - what "2BM"? haha i will be going to the motor show on saturday evening! maybe i'll see you there lol. Auto obsessed is one of the reasons im going haha, prob pick up some products. I'll be looking for something to help with the swirls on my car..and what is this QD that is less static?? I really need some of that..
With tint, if they can't see you, they'll wonder what you're hiding (cell phone, kindle, Subway sandwich), and are more likely than ever to nab you for the tint.
I thought I was caught for sure a couple of weeks ago, as the cop should have pulled up beside me at a light. Instead, he hung back off my bumper...never pulled up alongside. In retrospect, I believe he was probably running my plate to see if I was worth pulling over.
At least in winter, it's cold enough that they need a reason to get out of their car.

Lol you'll need a buffer and a bunch of products to help with the swirls on your car. Acura/Honda paint is quite soft hence why it gets scratched easier.

I believe you're going to see more of it, as the cops enforce the distracted driving laws. Fastest way to get a ticket is to let the police see you trying to avoid one. That's why if you get pulled over for speeding, you might just get a warning, but if you've got a radar detector on your dash, you're getting a ticket.

I heard from my cop buddy that police aren't actively looking at every driver on the road to see if they're breaking the law. It is more so those obvious cases where people appear to become oblivious to their surroundings and drive with no disregard for others on the road.
I don't see this law being enforced all that effectively. There would have to be a ridiculous amount of cruisers on the road at all times watching both citizens and other cops. Of course this would never happen since it would be an incredible waste of resources. Yes, I've spotted a few cops talking on a cell phone and driving at the same time. If you can't follow the rules you've sworn by how can you enforce them? Mind-boggling.

But reading in the papers how the police talk about how they see drivers trying to hide phones in their laps, etc. makes me realize that they are watching. And I figure, if something gets in the way of their watching, they're more likely than ever to act on it.
And as an aside, I for one hope they do step up enforcement of the distracted driving law. There are too many liabilities driving around out there.
In the past, I would have agreed with you. In fact, several years ago, I was at a dinner and there was a city cop talking to a guy, and when the guy complained that he had been pulled over and the officer made him peel right then and there with a razor, the cop said "it must have been RCMP". And I too have avoided a ticket thus far (and my windows are dark...limo dark). I even recently pulled up to a light on Whyte Ave, with a couple of uniforms just standing on the corner, and nothing.

It would be interesting to see how they would step up enforcement on the distracted driving law though. In order to do so, they will have to divert more of their resources to pulling people over. This means another area of policing will have to be compensated for, so what will be put on the back burners to rack up these tickets? I support a greater enforcement of this law but at what cost will it come? While police are out looking for offenders, will more serious crimes be overlooked as an oversight? But if they can devise a plan to balance everything out then hats off to them.
Yes I've heard how the RCMP are way more strict on the tint law than EPS. Occasionally they have tint check stops set up in Sherwood Park and there are a bunch of reports of people being caught in Sherwood Park. I'd imagine the same would apply to the Greater Edmonton Area since it's covered by RCMP but Sherwood Park seems to have it the worst.

"2BM" is 2 bucket method. Two buckets with grit guards in each of them. One bucket is rinse water only while the other bucket is the soap bucket.

Only place I've seen those is eBay, Since they are the flat type and not domed you could always just tape off the area around your bumper and paint it or buy some CF wrap and cut the outline
yeah i was thinking of just plasti dipping it since i still got half a can. Anyone have the outline anywhere? tried shading it over with a pencil than cutting it out, didnt turn out so pretty haha

Guys anyone know someone with a 99-03 Acura TL, or 1998-2002 accord that has a roof rack. I need one, and looking to borrow one for a weekend. I might buy one but my tranny is slipping more and more and it will need changing soon and I don't wanna spend 400-500$ on a new roof rack right now.
no luck there, or in whole Alberta. I saw some cheap ones (160$) at Canadian tire, but I don't know about fitment. And I would need to fogure out a way to clamp 4 snowboards down to the rails. Or get a snowboard/ski accessory to go with it which will be a lot more $.
