mantis I forgot to tell you... you know those pop rivets, or whatever they're called, that hold the splash guard on by the front wheel? One of them sits under the air filter and over time can bounce around enough to poke a hole in the filter. When I went out to CA, HellaWhat told me that happened to him. You gotta take that out and use a zip tie.

It's the rivet at the very top of this pic. Then you can loop the tie thru the rivet hole, and the big oval hole right there by it.

More than 3,600 posts and 240+ pages! Mostly it is Mantis and Danny. They are real post whores. I can say this because my posts on this thread are below 300 while theirs are well above 600. Sorry Casper, you need to try a little harder to be in their post whoriffic league--even I have you by a few posts (and I don't even try). Cheers!

Mantis, I haven't seen any posts relating to performance inhancments relized from your new CAI. Can you tell adefferance?

You guys missed a great Rod show at Market Hall. Not to mention the Texas Bikini Team. I guess I just did. Not many imports however. Still it was fun and they had cold beer.

For all of you who are going to Ennis on the 21st, I'll see you there. There should be quite a few of my Max buddies out there as well. If it rains, I'm not even gonna waste my time heading down there but I would love to go on the 28th as well.

Hanzie, don't forget your race happy amigas!

Oh, gotcha. Is that because of the air leak, or do you just like ridin low? Is that causing any tire wear problems yet?

I'll probably make it to Ennis Fri. unless it's raining, which is supposed to happen according to the weather lady this morning.

Well, Ennis is startin to look like we'll be going on the 28th instead. If you check www.weather.com and use the zip code 75165 for Ennis you'll see that Scattered Thunderstorms are predicted for Friday. Sounds like Ennis is a no go.

Well, the rain is supposed to occur earlier on Friday. Hopefully it will dry out come racing time.

mantis, i asked this question in your aem pic thread already, but you'll prolly see it here first...

Did you need any new hoses to replace that metal thing, or did you just stretch that "heater hose" to reach?

The gains aren't as noticeable as the headers were, but I can definetly tell there is a change. Also, the CAI gives a whole new meaning to the phrase 'vtec range'

I got a woody the first time I got into vtec with the cai on.

Nope, all the hoses they supplied worked like a charm. I did end up cutting off about 35% of the smaller hose just so I could route it a different way.

I thought something was funny when I had a hose and 2 'pinchers' left over after the install.

You can do that easily. The end brackets(if you will) are completely removeable, and you can paint them all as one piece without having to worry about getting paint on the polished part of the STB.

so did you use that "extra" hose when you changed it, I thought you just took the heater hose and attached it to where that metal piece came from. I'm kinda confused right now cause i'm in class and can't go take a look at my car. I'll give it a try later today and I'll probably have another question or 2.

ok, the metal piece that slants upwards was running 2 lines... the 2 hoses they supplied replaces both of those lines. You'll have to take the engine cover off to get to both of them.

Once you get under the hood, and follow where the 2 lines from the metal piping connect, it'll all make sense to you. Kinda hard to explain without visual...

I assumed you looked at the pics over in the other thread, but its kinda hard to grasp WTF is going on with such close shots.

I don't know about putting it into a spray can. That'd be fuckin' pimp if they could though.

back to the other subject, this pic is right near the throttle body.. this is the smaller hose supplied by AEM...

here is another pic from a wider angle... as you can see, it attaches down underneath, I don't have a pic of the other side it attaches to

If you look at this pic, follow the hose near the oil cap, that hose runs over to underneath the intake...

Well, now that the CAI & rim issues are settled, on to bigger & better things.

I just ordered two amps like the one on the right in this picture.

Each one will power one sub. It sucks b/c now I need another battery & a new alternator.

I wouldn't just stop by Home Depot to pick up some paint. That piece of metal was painted with a metal paint so that it wouldn't rust or chip. Make sure you get similar paint to paint metal. If Home Depot doesn't have anything, check here (www.caswellplating.com). They are a metal plating shop that sells VHT paint that paints metal.

thanx for the tips mantis. I just got home and took a look at it, it looks like that smaller hose is gonna be a bitch, but I'm gonna go try. Did you just use those small squeeze clamps that are on the stock hoses right now, or did you use the screw clamps? I only have one extra screw clamp, so i think I'm gonna have to use the stock ones.

That's one big ass amp, and it's just the right one correct? So do you have to have 2 batteries, or just a new one to replace your pretty blue one? And a new alternator, that sucks.
