HAVE FUN WITH THAT SHIT!!! I looked at the setup when i had the car, that looks damn near impossible, no room and if i remember correctly it was all jacked up. hehe, I could try to help if you decide to do it, not that i would be much help though. Isnt the setup with the headers in front and behind the motor?? I can't remember now. If i were to help, it would have to be on a weekend.

I wouldn't mind helping you screw up your ride, let me know when you plan on doing it.

Man, it looks like a post whore war was going on here. It's going to take me a spell to get all caught up.

Anyway, PlanoTLS came by last Friday and let me get some measurement off of his TLS. I even got to take it for a quick spin over some dips to see how it handled them.

He's got Comptech springs, sways and that sweet looking Mungen spoiler.

Bottomline is the drop looks great! And it did just fine on the big dips test.

Many thanks to PlanoTLS, and I owe him one.

Mine won't look as tight as his due to the slightly smaller tires, by about 1/2 inch, but it will look much better.

So what am I going to do?

Well, I'll let my sig speak for itself.

Congrats on the headers, Mantis. I had Goodson Acura install my Comptech headers and they charged me like $237 or something--well worth it to me not to screw everything up.

I would be of no help whatsoever (except to drink beer, of course)!

Has anybody had their ride dyno'ed in the area? If so, where did you go to do it and what did it cost? I think there are some places in Fort Worth but are there any places closer to North Dallas?

I've been wondering about a Dallas-area dyno spot. How much does it typically cost? I'm guessing around $50.

Umm, There is a dyno shop in Lewisville. There is also one in North dallas somewhere off 75. I work with a guy who has a Bullit, and he dynoed like 2 weeks ago. I need to do a before and after dyno, so I'm looking also.

Welcome to the coolest group of Acura, and Honda owners around.

Sorry, but I've been back to back on things every night and just finished a game and reviewing my kids homework.

So I promise to get caught up with everything going on. Especially the mods-craze that seems to be gripping this group.

Hey Dyno guys! :P

If several of us are interested in having some dynos done, perhaps we should try and get a "club" discount.

It could be worth a try.

So I would be interested.

RUF,

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm in for a group dyno. I really only wanna do it *after* I get my mods done, basically to compare where mine is relative to others with similar mods. So, maybe two weeks from now would be great for me (if it's not too far off for everyone else). I'm in Valley Ranch, so anywhere in Dallas/North Dallas/Lewisville/Arlington is cool for me.

I pray that I got in on the OBX headers before SSAutoChrome closed the dealio, cuz I'm gonna be really if it doesn't work out. I wanna have one shop do all the work at the same time, so I can work out some kind of deal on all the labor. I'll save at least $100 going that route, I'm guessing.

Later

I am absolutely in on a group dyno--or even going down by myself and then posting the results.

It would be pretty cool if we all went down the same day to the same place so we could compare results apples to apples a little better. This way we could see just what the stock looks like to just adding the ice box (assuming they are in by then), just adding the header, exhaust, or all the various combinations of the parts.

This would be pretty cool.

I dynoed my CLS with an AEM cold air on it. I did it at Carboy in Houston when i was there visiting my parents. The highest run out of the three was 209hp i believe if i remember correctly. I still have the sheet, i can email a copy if anyone wants it, gotta run to school, i will check back when i get home and send out the emails if anyone wants to see. Also if you look on the TL site, someone posted there a stock run at 200hp, so i was impressed when i saw i gained 9hp from the aem, it sorta didnt feel like it though, it felt about a 2-3 hp gain. oh well

Goodies have arrived!

OBX headers are sitting next to me, and the 2003 road-lamp replacement pieces are installed in the car (much sportier IMO).

I've got tracking #'s for the CT springs and sways, and will be here on Friday.

Hey Dean, get those damn Ice Boxes shipped, will ya?

I've got the upgrade bug big-time now. I fear I won't make it through the wait...

Excellent Deeznuts!

Where can I find pics of the comptech ice box? I hear it has a diff design vs. AEM & Injen.

There's a real nice shot of it installed in the CL-S with the CT S/C in this thread. Looks pretty stock, actually.

I think that CARB certification is a California pollution issue.

Damn icebox, i don't know what to do. It looks like I may have wasted my $ on the AEM. I love the way the looks on the engine (not that I see it often), but I may have to get the new Icebox. Is the filter in the same place as it was in the stock air box? Based on that picture it looks like it's the same.

What is CARB certification? I was reading that the OBX headers don't have it, do we need it in TX?

The CARB is a California certification. They have the highest standards of all 50 states, so if it is CARB legal, it is legal in Texas. The company actually sends the part to a CARB lab who tests and certifies that it meets or reduces the emissions level of the stock piece it replaces (that is why the supercharger is not back yet--CARB pending).

I don't know about the OBX headers except that they are not yet CARB certified is what I have heard--somehow I doubt they will check it here in Texas--but we are all going to hear about it if there is a problem!!!

Inferno, I'm gonna post before and after pix of my car from totally stock to when I'm done, but to answer your Q, it makes the front end look similar to the 2003, i.e. no road lamps. Lata

Nutz,
Did you paint the lower grille like the 03s, or did you just leave it all black?

I haven't touched anything else. I'm gonna have to take a look at an '03 in my parking lot and see what the differences are.

So you got your springs . . great. I was wondering.

Also, your CLS is a great car, but not a 4-wheel drive car. So stay out of the weeds on this field trip. :P :P

I don't think this picture gives you a good view of the ice box. It is catching the S/C more than anything else.

As for the looks, it's fairly stock (OEM) looking. And quiter too.

That's what got me hooked, besides the expected gain of 13HP at the wheels.

RUF, actually the pic does show the Icebox pretty well, you just have to scroll over to the right, the pic is huge.
