Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
So, I now have a 4s with a busted glass and fucked up LCD screen.
Gazelle says they'll give me $30 for it
Ibreakufix.com says $80 to fix it. Doubt I could sell it for much more than that...probably just worthless right now.

Do it yourself? Robot Check
I had a razr (old school flip) that did that.
No way, 4s is a lot of screws and time where the 5 is pretty quick but the initial screen removal with the suction cups can take some time. I have done probably 20 4/s for friends and it will take you an hour or so, $15 for the screen with digitizer and tools, ifixit.com for the tutorial. Just take your time and while you are reading through the directions the first time, take a piece of paper and make boxes with the color screw and number of them so you don't mix them up. That will make more sense once you read through the ifixit guide. I can help you out if you have questions.

The T-Mobile plan is an awesome deal and i am seriously thinking about switching. I was wondering if i was to get a iphone 6 or 6+ with a At&t contract and then switch to T-mobile if they would pay my early termination fee's.

It actually has done that to me but not since I put a case on it.
Hmmm so Starbucks is offering Pro Cam 2 for free.
Pretty nifty camera app. Has so many manual controls You change. ISO, shutter speed, focus distance, white balance. Can even change aspect ratios 16:9, 3:2, 4:3 & 1:1 (MP count will chsnge depending on ratio) or even shoot at a lower MP. Pictures can be saved in TIFF format too
Also for video you can shoot at different resolutions and frame rates. Such as 24fps.
Controls suck but pretty sweet for free (it's normally $2)

You guys must either treat your gear like shit or have bad luck.
I have 4 cables total, one in my car, one in my wife's car, one on my nightstand (usually ends up on the floor during the day) and the one with my spare battery...only ONE of those cables is an actual apple cable. The ones in the car get thrown all over the place and left hanging, etc.
And in the past year + that I have had them I have never had one break, go bad, flake out.
Its a solid little connection and much sturdier cable than the 30 pin. And a better physical connector than mini or micro USB (imo).

have yet to have any lightning cables break or get damaged on me.Ohh and I only have 2 cables, one at home and one at work. The one at work gets thrown around and stepped on like crazy since its under my desk.

What I see more with micro USB is actually not the cable, but where the cable plugs into the device where that female connector in the device gets loose and stops woirking. Happens many times on Morpie cases and seen it on phones and speakers.
nope, but I'm sure a case that supports it will come out soon. They had it for the 5 IIRC.
Wait do you mean induction charging or something like witricity?

Yes, because its a shitty connector and more than half these companies cheap out with crappy soldering job and single point connections. They are the weak link. There weren't designed to withstand the day to day use that the cable itself was designed for...how backwards and cheap is that...
My wife has destroyed several Apple cables, usually the actual cable right after the connector. She just asked me for a new Lightning cable. I think I'm just going to give her the one that came with my Mini and grab a microUSB adapter for mine.
regarding the treatment of the cables, I don't treat them like they are gods, but I also haven't changed the way I treat them compared to other cables I have owned since I started owning cables. this tells me they are flawed lol
considering how I treat cables and have never had an issue, this tells me you're flawed. But that isn't new info, lol.
