Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
Regarding the "self-worth" thing, there was a lot of that in the early days when it was considered prestigious to own an iPhone and they were even seen as status symbols. But I think this faded some years ago. If people are still doing it I can only laugh - with 4 million iPhone 6 pre-sales and a predicted 6 million on top of that this weekend, I think anyone who still thinks they are unique or special because they own an iPhone has some serious personal issues. Delusions of grandeur or some kind of psychosis, insecurity, etc.

NOT trying to sound like I am hating, because frankly I use iOS devices as well as android, but a question for those of you deeply embedded in the iOS infrastructure:
Does it make you angry or frustrated with Apple that a lot of these new and amazing features in iOS have been in android for a number of years?

Sometimes, sure, I want that feature. But I know it will come eventually and when it does it will work properly.
Hence why I said my comment is not pointing at you folks...just saying that it still is happening. Very strange...and stupid.

I prefer iPhones because the hardware and software sync up a lot better than Android IMO.
When the Samsung S4 came out there was a lot buzz about the phone, so I traded in my iPhone 5 to a friend for a S4. Don't get me wrong I liked the S4, but with all the features it had it didn't allow me to utilize all of them without some lag & crashes.
The good thing about the iPhone is, that, even though the features are limited stock, the phone is consistent and nearly never gives me problems. If I do have problems, you have the convenience of going to the Apple Store and getting it fixed quick.
I've tried the G2, S4, S5, G3 (my 2nd choice if I didn't like the new iPhone update), and Note. I feel like the iPhone is a much more solid phone while the others have better capabilities and more features.

For the time, it was a great phone. Small, light and with the extended battery, would last for ever. Had my seven years, even working after dropping in the toilet once.
Moar pics of Iceland
iPhone 6 Plus Camera Review: Iceland ? Austin Mann
A impressed by the part where he boosted the mids and highlights of an image.
Still pretty shitty but not bad.
Now if only Apple allowed RAW files it would be even better!

Need some input:
I want to update to ios 8 but need that 5.6 gb of free memory. Even when I delete all my songs I only have about 4 gb of free memory. I see that I have 2 gb tied up in text messages and then a whole shitload tied up in a bunch of apps ie: the file size of one of my games is 46.5 mb but it's 'documents & data' is 125mb. Same for a bunch of other apps.
What is the best way to get rid of these documents & data files hogging up my memory.. without uninstalling/reinstalling the app?
I've heard there are apps you can buy for like $20-$40 that allow you to clean all of these junk files (phoneclean, iexplorer, cleanmyphone, etc). Anyone used anything like that?

You would think that somebody determined enough to stand in line for a day or two to get a launch day phone would surely be determined enough to set their alarm for 12am a week ago and just preorder the freaking thing. That's what I did. Sure, I went to work last Friday on a pretty short night's rest but I have a phone waiting for me with my name on it. Don't even have to wait in line. Just show up any time I want.

?Insane? interest in gold iPhone 6
Gold & Co London chief executive Amjad Ali said the company has been taking orders for the past six months in anticipation of the iPhone 6's launch.
As at September 14, the company had a total of 438 orders, he told emirates 247. "The UAE is our biggest market. The local order-book is insane," he said.
Gold & Co London makes Burj Al Arab-branded 24K gold iPads and iPhones, among other solid gold gadgets.
The company expects to make the first deliveries of the golden phones to Dubai customers on September 20 or 21, almost a week before the regular iPhone 6 models become available in the country.
The cost of an iPhone 6 in 24K gold starts at $5419.45, with a black gold model setting you back more than $6649.
A 24K iPhone 6 Plus retails at more than $6021 for the solid gold version and more than $7226 for the black gold version.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone 6 in the US on September 9.
The new model comes in two forms: the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus 'phablet'.

Why is glass used instead of plastic? IMO the side of the frame should wrap over the glass to give it some protection. The 5C has the same issue. I guess doing that would make it harder to service.
You are so clever. If a phone can't take minimal abuse like falling from a night stand to parquet floor, I don't want it.
One day when you'll have pets and kids you'll understand how dropping a phone is a norm. Sometimes my phone has legs of its own. It's life.
I've replaced a bunch of screens on iPhone 5/5s a few times, and even with cracked screen it was a pain in the ass removing it and required substantial force, which is quality built in my book.
But that video could just suck, I'm waiting for more hands on reviews!
