iPhone 6 set a new record for pre-orders, the company announced on Monday, with more than 4 million pre-orders for both iterations of the smartphone pouring in for the shiny new device
Apple announces record pre-orders for new iPhone
A few of my friends are having a great time with AT&T and their iPhone 6 Preorders.
AT&T has deactivated their current phones and have activated their new iPhone 6s, which is great news except that the new iPhone are still in China.
lol

Hmm wasn't really mentioned in the keynote other than for Pay
But did anyone hear anything if the NFC was opened up for apps to use and can be used to launch websites or used with cameras that have NFC?

I assume that's just to interface with Apple Pay.
So a lot of you seem to be super knowledgeable about Apple, so I am going to ask you guys this. I have an iPhone 5 and am due for an upgrade at the end of December.
From what I can see from the 6 I like but I am not sure I love it. The following disappointed me:
-Still an 8 megapixel camera (although they did add some features)
-Base 16 GB
-4.7 seems a little small compared to competitors, but 5.5 seems to big.
So I guess my question to you guys that bought the 6 or plan on buying it is, what advantages do you feel it offers over the competition?
My biggest thing is I am not sure I could deal with losing iMessage.

In my experience my Note 2 has been less buggy than both my iPhones. I returned each of them at least once to the Apple store and I still have the same Note 2 from a 1 1/2 years ago. I think Curious3GTL should probably go down to the store in December and play with what the competition offers if he's worried about size and OS. Sadly at AT&T (not sure about the other carriers) it's hard to actually grab the phones because of the security lock in the back or they put that case that's like a book which I can't stand.

Apple Restricting Use of NFC Antenna in iPhone 6 and 6 Plus to Apple Pay
Sep 16, 2014 1:10 am PDT by Richard Padilla
The NFC antenna found on Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will only be used with the company's "Apple Pay" mobile payment solution and will not be available to developers for use in third-party apps, reports Cult of Mac. The confirmation comes by way of an Apple spokeswoman, who also declined to comment on future plans for the technology's use in other instances.
The move is similar to the Touch ID sensor's debut on the iPhone 5s last year, as Apple restricted its use to iTunes purchases and device unlocking. However, Apple announced at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference that developers would be able to integrate Touch ID into their iOS 8 apps. It is possible that Apple will allow NFC to be used with third-party apps at some point in the future, however it appears that the company is focused on polishing the technology for use with its own services.
Apple Pay will first launch in the United States next month as an update to iOS 8, and will be featured in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as the Apple Watch when it launches next year. The service will be compatible with American Express, Mastercard and Visa credit/debit cards, with 220,000 U.S. retail stores listed as partners. Apple will also be launching an Apple Pay API for developers to integrate the service into their apps.

Its not my permanent case, but it'll work until they're more cases that come out.

Walt Mossberg/Lauren Goode (iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus), Re/code:
[iPhone 6] And, despite the larger screen, all my apps -- by Apple and third parties -- just worked. None that I tested looked distorted or blurry. Apple says its App Store now offers 1.3 million apps, a new high.
[iPhone 6] In my tests, I found the iPhone 6's Wi-Fi speeds -- both downstream and upstream -- were roughly double those of the 5s, and about 25 percent faster than those of the Samsung Galaxy S5. But I saw little difference in LTE speeds, either on Verizon or AT&T.
[iPhone 6 Plus] Oh, and if, like me, you rarely get a full day out of your current iPhone's battery, this might excite you: In my tests, which involved setting the display brightness to 50 percent and cycling through my regular routine of apps and phone calls, the iPhone 6 Plus would last from early one morning until evening the following day. (Calls sounded great, as well.)

David Pierce/Nilay Patel (iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus), The Verge:
[iPhone 6 Plus] Huge phones get to have huge batteries, and the iPhone 6 Plus is a huge phone with a huge battery: I consistently got about two days of battery life from the 6 Plus in regular daily use -- slightly more than the day and half we got from the iPhone 6, and basically the same as the Note 3.

UGH. Still no fucking shipping info for my phone. God dammit mom, you just HAD to have the 6 Plus.
When I ordered it said ships by 10/7, wtf. So much for ordering at 4am.

It's pick one of the other, until there's a breakthrough in batteries....
it's still not out yet guys, looks like it's going to be a while. Don't bother checking the servers over and over again slowing it down. Looks like it won't be up for another ....10 minutes remaining
