Much of the stuff they are showing on this watch...why would I waste my time fooling around with the watch as apposed to pulling my phone out of my pocket?

FWIW, I'd rather use a watch than Google Glass or anything of that sort of device. So apple was good to get into the watch game with Android.

Because you'll save 1-2 seconds of your life each time by using an Apple Watch?

Imagine the amount of time saved over the course of your life....

I've been considering that exact issue since I am considering a smartwatch and, for me, it boils down to being able to walk away from my phone and know that I can still get my notifications and messages. Since I work from home, it offers me more freedom to walk around and deal with other things without needing to keep my phone on me all the time, especially since my new phone is huge and a bit unwieldy at times.

For fitness use, its better than a phone, especially at the gym or on a bike.

GPS...I mentioned that already...safer

Everything else...extraneous, adding to the disconnect of humans in America. But most likely fun and people will like playing with it.

The charging apparatus is also pretty ugly...I like the moto360 approach with wireless charging.
